I was greeted with a refreshing drink when I checked in. When I informed John that I needed breakfast @ 6:30AM, he put me in room #1, which had a small shower, no tub(sigh!). I had trouble opening the bi-fold closet door, but an email to John brought him to show me how. The only outlet for charging is on the wall with no table. The Malaysian restaurant I chose for dinner was so-so, despite it’s one time Zagat rating. Ayeyada frozen yogurt is terrific, though!(Especially after spicy food) I didn’t like my room, but the food was great.

This entire review can be wrapped up in one word: Outstanding. The White Horse Inn is by far the best Bed & Breakfast my girlfriend and I have ever been to. It’s quaint, charming, quiet, relaxing, and all around a wonderful place. John, the Innkeeper, goes above and beyond to ensure all guests have the best experience possible. Not only is he an amazing cook, making everything from Quiche to French Toast each morning, but he is extremely humble, friendly, courteous and kind to everyone that walks through the doors. On top of all these attributes, the one thing that put our experience over the top was the fact that John knows every guests name; and not only that, he gets to know you as a person. Simply put; he makes you part of the family. Now on to the inn itself; the inn has«old New England charm» and is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Each room is the perfect size and has all the amenities needed, including a full bath and even an «imitation wood stove» electric heater for ambiance. There is a quaint sitting room on the main level with a stove in the corner that warms up the room nicely, a library of interesting books, and a collection of board games(for those cold snowy days). Each morning when you wake up and go down to the breakfast area, you are greeted by John who offers you a coffee, tea or juice. As you walk into the breakfast area there is another stove burning, making for a very nice setting. There is a nice selection of cereals available with breakfast, as well as fresh fruit, a variety of toasts, generally banana bread and yogurt as well as the fresh made breakfast made by John as I mentioned above. John is always accessible to the guests and offers his cell phone if you need anything. The inn is located right on the main road in the center of Pittsfield and is only minutes away from the Lee Premium Outlets as well as many other attractions in the area. Overall the White Horse Inn is the perfect getaway in the Berkshires and we can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I were able to make a(unpaid) reservation after several days of phone tag, confirming at least twice. When we arrived, no one was at the inn. We called the numbers they had available, and received to answer. We went out for about an hour, and came back to the same situation. We were disappointed to have to find another inn at the very last minute, but were lucky it was low season and found a room elsewhere. We never did hear back from them…

Stayed here for one night with my GF. It is a really nice house that was really clean and well kept. Gary and family were very nice and welcoming. We walked into downtown Pittsfield which was pretty close. The room we stayed in was nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. The Breakfast served was very good(I personally did not eat the french toast because of all the berries in it) but my GF loved it. If you are looking for a nice B&B to stay in, I would take a serious at the White Horse Inn.

We were supposed to spend a couple of days in Pittsfield and we chose the White Horse Inn because of its charm and location, as well as the B&B atmosphere that we like. Unfortunately, a grave medical emergency prevented us from being able to fly, thus forcing us to have to cancel our trip. This review is not about the hotel itself, but about customer service: it was excellent as Gary was so understanding and gracious during what was an otherwise trying event. The White Horse Inn will certainly be our first choice when we are able to make our visit.

Four stars, and I’ve never even been here! «Why», you ask? That’s easy: their cordial attitude towards guests extends as far as their refund policy. After having booked a three-day weekend here with my lady, she had a deadline at work pushed back and we needed to cancel. Having booked on Expedia, we logged in to cancel and it said the cancellation deadline had expired by three days(so no refund). But the weekend was almost three weeks away! So we emailed the owners directly, and they were nice enough to make an exception. We got a full refund. Four stars, not five, as their cancellation policy could be a bit less harsh to begin with. We will definitely try to pay them a visit later this Summer. They deserve to be rewarded for such exceptional customer service.

We stayed at the White Horse Inn for our anniversary in June, 2009. The owners are very friendly, and made us feel welcome. The room we stayed in was large, clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed peace and quiet, which was a concern of mine in a B&B. I had never stayed at a B&B before, and the experience we had at the White Horse will bring us back again. Breakfast each morning was unique and delicious. The portions were sufficient, and the food was very tasty. One morning was a quiche which was hot and yummy, and the next morning was a delicious fruit pastry. The location is just outside of downtown Pittsfield. There was a little traffic noise, but it was not excessive. We will definitely consider this spot again should we head out to the Berkshires for another vacation.
