Very small and right when busy. That makes me uncomfortable… The food was good but the service was kinda slow. My visit was a couple months ago but I’m just getting started on Unilocal.I would Definately recommend the marcona almonds! Soooo good.

Strolling the main drag and walking off dinner at the other end of the strip when we came across Mission. A hard look in the front window got us curious(would have never seen this place from the street in a car passing by, so we were doing a double take from sidewalk level just to believe we may have found yet another handsome and inviting establishment in Pittsfield). We were not dissapointed and despite full bellies just had to indulge in a glass of wine and we made room for the House Meatballs. Noted the Paella on the menu and had to quiz our helpful server at the bar. Without our having it(yet) she went on to confirm they make it all the time, have a chef and an owner who have the skills and the travel behind them to bring Paella to Western Mass, and aside from a presentation in the iron one usually sees their Paella delivered in, they opt for a big bowl and compares favorably in every way to what their clientele say their experience have been. Hmm, maybe a chance to get in one more meal before heading back home?! EDIT: Sitting here now the next night and I am pleased to say the Paella kicks ass. Split the Mariscos and there was more than enough. If you ordered it in Spain you would be happy. Order this here in Western Mass and it’s awesome. Maybe a tick more seafood but otherwise a great value for the money. Also had a cheese plate and truffle fries while we waited(not long at all but it’s early).

Not as impressed as everyone else. This place is seat yourself during lunch time. We came here around 2 – 3 Saturday. Ordered the Potatoes w/Chorizo, Scallops, Shaved brussel sprouts and kale, Pork tacos and the cheese stuffed dates, and the butternut squash soup. Neither one of us were particularly blown away by any of the dishes. None of the dishes really stood out as particularly good either. I’m sorry but I was just not a fan…

Great tapas place! All items on the menu sounded wonderful but I went with a shredded brussel sprout /kale /bacon dish in a balsamic vinaigrette, and goat cheese crostini with honey and pecans. With a tempranillo wine. All were terrific. Great service, lively atmosphere. There was no live music the night I went, but they do have live music a few times a week. I would definitely come back here again.

Went here with my boyfriend on a Friday night around 7. No wait at all. I had a glass of wine and we shared two dishes. First was the baguette with goat cheese, honey, and pecans. Sooooo good. My boyfriend does like bread(because he’s weird) but he still loved this. We then had the pork tacos with red kale and fries. The tacos were AMAZING. They just melted in your mouth. The atmosphere was calm, quiet, and perfect for a date night. I heard they have live music too! I can’t wait to check this out. The best part of all of this… our bill was well under $ 30 with tip. We will definitely be going again to try more of the plates.

Now my 4 th visit. Each delightful. Each time I go with new people we experience different items but I am addicted to the fresh anchovies in a lemon zested oil. I adore them !!! I saw someone with the lobster sliders and they looked amazing… 3 plump and overflowing little buns of love. Inside woody and cool, great music. At night filled with 20 – 30 year old upbeat folk. But scattered in were some older too. Good beer and wine selection. Something for everyone. I had to have the beet, avocado and oranges on arugula. Perfect on a hot summer day. I am looking forward to more mussels later in the week. This is one of my all time favorite places where I would never tire of the choices. I have heard that the Paella is excellent… Hope that is in my future as well.

Intimate tummy tapas restaurant. Everything I tried was delicious. And a various and uncommon draft beer selection made me happy. When I asked for ketchup for my garlic aioli fries, they responded that they make their own sauces. Sign me up!

We stumbled upon this place after a full day drive from Washington DC. We were pleasantly surprised to find such amazing food in Pittsfield. The five is relaxing, and intimate. Fantastic food. A complete gem. Generous portions. Interesting menu. Fantastic service. We tried the bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese. Yummy. The Caesar’s salad is grilled. So good. Also tried the meatballs, The cured meat plate, curried cauliflower, and the papas with Spanish sausage. Possibly the only downside is that noise level. Price tag for dinner for three was around $ 100.

We stopped in here because we had been skiing all day and wanted something other than clam chowder and burgers. Little did we know, downtown Pittsfield has some pretty fantastic modern spots! Everything was excellent– the restaurant is intimate, quiet, and tastefully lit, has plenty of interesting wines and beer($ 6 a pint), and fantastic tapas and large plates. We ordered bacon wrapped dates(ohmahgawduh), garlic shrimp(which comes in a sauce you wish you could politely drink straight from the bowl), spicy crab cakes, and an awesome shallot truffle mac and cheese. All of the food was fantastic, and the server was attentive, yet let us be to have nice conversation and just enjoy the food. She even comped the Mac and cheese when it came out ‘overdone’ as per the chef. We still ate every ounce of it and loved it! We finished off the night with some excellent crème brûlée, though they have a flourless chocolate cake that looks ridiculous as well. If you find yourself in Pittsfield, don’t hesitate to stop in. My only pieces of advice would be to be careful if you’re coming with a large group as the restaurant is small and has mostly small tables. The only complaint might be that the live acoustic music(oh yeah, did I mention there was GOOD live music starting at 8?) was a little bit loud for our initially quiet evening. But really, I can’t complain at all. Definitely stop by.

Great service, great food. The Rioja was really good. The sauces were house-made. At first we were like what kinda place doesn’t serve ketchup? Well, it’s got it’s own aioli sauce and its own BBQ sauce smoked in-house!!! The chef really takes pride in creations and it totally shows. Open mic once a week. Nice wood décor with bay windows!

Great food and warmth combined. I sampled the patatas bravas, dates wrapped in bacon with blue cheese and beef tenderloin. Fabulous flavors all! Made me remember tapas in Barcelona. The best tapas I have had since then:) You can’t miss here with terrific food, great service and lovely ambience.

This is my first time venturing out in Pittsfield, and it was great bar. I was a little put off when I was asked to present both my ID& another form of identification. BUT this bar has a great hipster vibe. I would recommend this bar for a «catch up» place, basically bring a friend who you haven’t seen in a while and bring them here. The music is really low :-( BUT the drinks are a great price!

I had been in a couple of times just for drinks, always had a great time and was impressed by the selection of beers and wines offered. When I finally stopped in for lunch, I ordered the salmon BLT sliders and they were delicious!

This place really got 3.5 stars from me, but thanks to Unilocal’s system I had to round either up or down… As you can see I went down and I did that for their tacos… Yup you get three taco rolls and fries for $ 8 somehow at this tapas place which is a steal if you ask me. Never have I ever been to a tapas place that has plates that are called tapas but they are full meals – and for $ 8 too! Crazy! Too bad those taco rolls were not that great. The meat was all dry and it was literally just meat rolled up in a tortilla. The fries were good though with the mayo to dip in – just like Amsterdam!(only at a tapas place ha ha) We also got their muscles in a curry coconut broth and boy oh boy was that sauce addicting! So thick and creamy, there is no way they used light coconut milk in this dish, but we used a ton of the extra bread they brought us to scoop up all of that goodness. Lastly we got their goat cheese salad which was tasty and had an obscene amount of goat cheese on it. Almost too much and this is coming from a person who LOVES cheese. I think it was almost like a dessert with some mixed greens under it, but who doesn’t love cheese? All in all, this tapas place has glasses of wine(two of which were out the night we went) that are pretty tasty and normally priced at $ 8 – 10 per glass, it is a nice ambiance inside with the dim lighting, a variety of table styles, and it isn’t a place where they rush you just like Spain which I appreciate.

Great interior. Tin ceilings, post & beam. Local art displayed on the walls. Communal seating, smaller bar, or private tables. Spanish. Small plates. Friendly staff. Live music on wkends. Stand out dishes: exceptional chicken croquettes w Chipoltle cream, fish tacos, dates wrapped in smoky salty bacon, Arugala salad w citrus dressing fingerling potatoes & pumpkin seeds. French press coffee @ the table. Creamy, velvety, peanutbutter chocolate ganache dessert was lovely. Surprising little spot in this area. Parking adjacent to the building is convenient.

I’ve never been to Spain so it is fair for me to say I don’t know what a «real» Tapas bar should be like. I’ve been to one highly rated restaurant in NYC that is self-proclaimed to be a Tapas restaurant, and that may be my best reference point. Many places offer a Tapas menu that generally consists of «small plates» of more or less creative preparations that may or may not be Spanish dishes. With that said, I’ll say that I liked Mission Bar and Tapas and enjoyed the food. The atmosphere was a good funky. The lighting was dim but bright enough to see the remnants of an old storefront’s tin ceiling. While fabric was hung by the front door to help protect from the cold drafts from outside, those drafts still worked their way half-way back through the restaurant to our table, especially when the poorly supervised child of a family seated by the door kept going in and out the door. All the beers on tap were craft beers. We started with an Atwater Vanilla Java Porter($ 6⁄16 oz.) and a Jack D’or Pretty Things Saison($ 6⁄16 oz.). The porter was not overly sweet and the saison had a good amount of hops. For appetizers we ordered the Bacon Wrapped, Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates($ 8) and a Sweet Potato Tortilla Espanola with Sage Almond Butter($ 5). There were six stuffed dates skewered on toothpicks and sprinkled with, according to the menu, ground almonds. But the nuts tasted more like walnuts. In any event, the bacon was fully cooked and the flavor of the blue cheese came through with the sweetness of the dates. The Sweet Potato Tortilla was like a wedge of sweet potato pie. It was full of flavor and spices including a bit of ginger I believe. It also had a very nice crust. We decided to share one of the three available Paellas for two. We chose the Valencia($ 21) with chicken, chorizo, and shrimp, made with callasparra rice, vegetable broth, saffron, and peas. There was not much flavor from the saffron, but the overall flavor of the dish was quite enjoyable. The texture was not as soupy as we had expected, it was more of a stew consistency. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was prepared and delivered more quickly than I had anticipated, but that was not an issue. We are likely to return to try a few other dishes on what appears to be a very interesting looking menu. And yes it is true that they DONOT have a phone.
