A decent, small zoo that took us about 1.5 hours to walk around and see everything. We went in December so it wasn’t too crowded(just the occasional screaming kid to deal with). The«enclosures» seemed a bit small from what I’m used to seeing at zoos(I’m used to the National zoo in Washington D.C.) but they seemed well-kept. Many animals weren’t around but then again we went in December.

Built on the side of a hill. .. .isn’t everything in Pittsburgh? It takes an airport-sized escalator to get from the parking lot to the first walking trail. Bring your walking shoes! But it is all worth it! Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium are about as good a zoo as a zoo can be. Personally I’d rather see all those guys(and gals) back in the wild. .. . even if it meant they’d be extinct one day. Each one of us deserves to live the best life we can. .. and believe me, living in a cage is not the best life that lions & tigers & bears(oh, my!) can live. But, I suppose if you gotta have a zoo, this one is one of the better ones. Just next time around folks let’s let ALL creatures(humans & wildlife alike!) live out their lives in freedom. What do you say?
