Learned about Toll Gate Revival – has only been open about 2 months – while searching for unique Pittsburgh furniture stores online. Then, after my guy and I took a look at TGR’s exceptionally great Instagram account we prioritized a trip to Lawrenceville last week to see this cool store for ourselves. And it didn’t disappoint. TGR was all we’d hoped it would be. Awesome retail space, great Butler Street location, and a mix of reasonably priced and higher-end items. I love using old things in new and creative ways, and I think TGR caters to that mentality. Repurposed 1800s barn wood, old crates and tools and trunks, and other decorative items and furniture pieces abound here. I loved every second we spent at the store and left feeling really inspired and creative. By the way, another solid Instagram account belongs to local builder John Malecki, who has affiliation with Toll Gate Revival. Check him out. During this initial trip to TGR we left empty-handed; try as I might, I just couldn’t get my husband to agree to utilize a funky old chest as a coffee table! Maybe next time.
