I’m currently sitting here stuffing my face with the Pittsburgh Marshmallow Factory marshmallow’s and it’s pure fluffy heaven! I always get SUPER excited when peeps season comes upon us. I was also equally excited when the manufacturer decided that peeps were also good creations for Christmas, St. Patrick’s, Valentines Day and any other holiday you can make up in between! I’m gonna say it… these blow them out of the water! It’s one thing to be coated in sugar and it’s another to take marshmallows to a whole other level like the Marshmallow Factory does! They’re so light and fluffy but packed with serious flavor! I tried the Coconut, S’Mores, Hazelnut, Carmel and Chocolate ones. By far and away my two favorites were the S’Mores and Coconut. I think I like that they’ve added a little more than flavor to both. The S’Mores is made up of a cookie and chocolate on the bottom of a big fluffy marshmallow. No fire needed! The Coconut has toasted coconut flakes coating the outside. YUMOLA! They’re inside the Pittsburgh Public Market but they also have an online site to order from:
I dare you to try the Ghost Pepper marshmallow! It’s made with what they say are the hottest peppers known to man… Naga Jolokia. I steered clear because I become a snotty mess(nice, right?!) with hot foods and there was no way I was embarrassing myself. But for the daring… go for it! For the rest of us, enjoy the other awesome flavors!

When I wandered into the Pittsburgh Public Market for the first time, I didn’t expect to leave munching on gourmet marshmallows, of all things. Still, I’m glad that happened. I don’t know if I can go back to eating grocery store marshmallows after trying some of these soft, pilllowy puppies. For a buck a piece, we got the ginger, cinnamon and bananas fosters marshmallows. I was impressed by how much spice was infused into the ginger and cinnamon; this isn’t just a light dusting on the outside. Ghost pepper flavored marshmallows were also for sale(these were $ 3 a piece), and while I didn’t sample it, my partner in crime said he could feel the heat in the sliver he tried. So if you do dare get the ghost pepper one, don’t stuff the whole thing in your mouth all at once. The guy managing the stand was friendly and eager to chat up his products and provide samples. Right now, the Pittsburgh Marshmallow Factory only has one storefront location in the Public Market building, but they may sell their goods in other places in the future. You can also place orders via e-mail(check the website for additional information), and they’ll ship, too.
