I just purchased one of their mixed boxes of cookies for my 90 year old, 100 lb mother, who turns up her nose to just about everything. There must have been 15 – 20 cookies in that box and she pretty much chain ate them and polished off the entire box in a few hours. She didn’t offer me any to try so I can’t speak of them personally, but judging from her consumption, they are definitely mom approved.

Their assorted biscotti is the best biscotti I ever had!!! Buy it every single time I go to the strip.

Really was looking forward to sampling the treats we purchased from Sweet Lilly. We ended up being a little surprised and a bit disappointed. My wife chose some sort of Italian type of pastry that she can’t recall the name of. It had Citron and was supposed to have ricotta inside. This piece seemed a bit dark and when she went to eat it this evening, it was incredibly dry and if there was any ricotta in it, it had dried out already. Kind of seems like these may have been leftover from the usually busy weekend since we were there on a Monday. The other issue I have is with the Lady Locks. The pastry part of these was just about as perfect as you could get. Each one was about 4 inches long and the cream filling was poking out of each end. The powdered sugar topped it off just fine. Imagine my surprise when I had one, bit into it about half way and found that the cream filling did not go the whole way through. The filling only extended maybe an inch in from the end, or so, leaving a gap in the middle of every one. My wife has baked Lady Locks in the past and I have had them from many different bakeries over the years. These are one of my very favorite pastries. Never, EVER, have I had one that was not completely filled, never. I can’t decide if someone got lazy or they are trying to cut costs but, it’s not likely that we will visit this store again other than on the weekend, if at all.

I’m from the burg but left for work reasons. Whenever I’m back I always go to the strip. Amongst my old faves S&D and Mancinis I’ve now discovered my sweet Lilly. We actually went in because we have a dog by that name and my wife wanted to get her treats. We ended up with treats for the pups and some of the best pastries I’ve ever eaten. We ate the food when we got back to DC. Thank god because if I’d have gone there the first day I would have gained 10 pounds in 3 days. Amazing.

Bought some sweets from the man(?owner) who had set up expansive tables outside of the Macaroni Co. If I hadn’t asked about his goods, I’d have no idea it was the same bakery across the street! I’m not sure why stickers aren’t on the boxes or containers to drum up business, but perhaps that’s part of the deal with renting the space. I seriously love the upside down pineapple cake cupcakes – they are moist with a flavorful yellow cake, fresh pineapple ring and cinnamon sugar filling. The turtles are good, though a bit costly at $ 2.25/apiece. We also got the cannolis, which were disappointing. They were freshly filled, but the ricotta filling was terribly bland. The shell was overcooked and tasted slightly burnt, or perhaps like something else cooked in the same oil(and if they aren’t fried, then I’m out of explanations). The dusting of powdered sugar was the only saving grace, as it added that sweetness the entire dessert lacked. I think I need to try other baked goods and will update my review accordingly. For four cannolis, two cupcakes, and four turtles, it was around $ 24.

Trip to Pittsburgh… Really good sweets… had the chocolate turtle, upside down pineapple cup cake and peacan pie! All really good. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Also purchased some peanut butter covered popcorn for the dog… They have a host of dog treats… A ton!

You know all of those delightfully tempting treats outside of Penn Mac in the Strip? Now it’s double trouble. They still set up outside Penn Mac but they have their own store front a block up, next to Deluca’s. From biscotti to homemade apple pie and baklava, My Sweet Lily has plenty of sweets to choose from for any occasion. The owner is friendly, helpful & quick. They accept credit cards for purchases over $ 10 but will make exceptions to $ 5 for smaller purchases. The decorations are bright, colorful and welcoming. I’m impressed by their use of the space and I look forward to going back!
