It’s a fun place if you’re in the mood to dance! But watch your credit card statements– the bartenders will over tip themselves! I’ve talked to a bunch of people who have had this happen. Warning– The bouncers get creepy and will make you uncomfortable!

Staff acted very unprofessionally. We didn’t even get into the bar before this happened. The bouncer also made friend of my friend’s style of speaking. Is not worth the trip.

I wanted to get in with my friends for a bachelorette party. I never had a bad experience with jimmy d… until tonight. Well, apparently there is a dress code… I don’t know why because the place smells like sweat and broken dreams plus it’s filled with smoke. There is a dress code for guys which includes no boots? Keep in mind, that’s stated nowhere on their website. We were in line getting our ID’s checked and the bouncers(oh, the infamous bouncers) were yelling«boots, boots»! Everyone in line was confused but continued to go through. We all proceeded to go in except my friend who waited in line AND all of a sudden was told right in front of the door that he was not getting in because of his boots(WHICHWERENOTTIMBERLANDS). Well why the heck didn’t you pull him aside before hand? Instead they yelled boots for five minutes to thin air? My friend of course was upset and asked why he wasn’t personally informed and they began to harass him! There was 4 bouncers harassing my gay friend. After reading through the comments, I am not sure if this was all actually due to boots or because my friend is gay. DONOT waste your time or money by coming to this place! Side note for JImmy D, I am sure you make a good profit but clearly you need to make a change in staff. Both your Google and Unilocal account have horrible reviews, yikes. Unless they made some changes, I will never recommend.

At first I really liked this place! My Asian girl friends and I always go there during weekends! Yesterday the security guard threw me out for no reason, and kicked me downstairs! I kept asking why they kicked me out because I didn’t do anything wrong I was just dancing and one of the guy grabbed my arms and pushed me out of the dance floor! It was such an embarrassment and I wish I had called the police because he kicked me when I was going downstairs! after reading the reviews! Oh wow so they are just racists because it was a club full of white folks! They don’t want us Asian girls to be there!

2nd experience here was awful. Horrible service and security guards are so rude. Not coming back.

This place has no class. Black security guard threw out my black boyfriend for absolutely no reason. He wasn’t even drinking that night. If you want a night with a bunch of coon workers go there. I asked what the problem was and could not get a straight answer. Will not be going back. Pittsburgh is known for racism in their bars. Not surprising.

It was everything i would want from a Dance Club. I have no problem with the price of drinks or the atmosphere. However you should be warned that their bouncers are complete morons. One of my friends got treated barbarically. While she was dancing, enjoying herself, and doing no harm, one of the security guards came up and forcefully grabbed her by the arm. I asked him why he was doing this and his response was«You’re a tough guy aren’t you?». When we got outside the bouncer had her show her I.D. to the cop that was perched outside(which was a non-issue because she’s 27 and looks like a 27 year old). The bouncer that took her outside told the bouncer at the door to not let her us back inside. That was another nonissue, because any business that condones that kind of behavior towards women(or any person in general) will not get any of my money. I went ahead and read some of the other reviews, and I’m not the first to post about the security/bouncers kicking people out for no good reason. I will not be going back their ever again i pray something is done about their bouncers behaviors, before someone gets seriously hurt.

Jag offs wouldn’t let me in to help me friend find her way home. «Sorry pal, not my problem.»

Jimmy D’s is average at best, and the bouncer was a classless jagoff. With as many bars as south side has, I wouldn’t go back to Jimmy D’s again.

I entered Jimmy’s D with a couple of friends tonight. I went downstairs to use the bathroom. And as I was coming up the stairs, dancing to the beat of the music, I’m stopped by a security guard midway. He tells me that I need to leave and made me leave from the back door with my friends. I go to the front to make a complaint and the same security guard that kicked me out, tells the people in the front door that my friends and I are not welcomed back. I would not recommend anyone to go, especially the way they treat their clients. It was definitely uncalled for and unjust.

If I could give zero stars for this review I would. A group of us from out of town decided to go out after catching a game at the ballpark. After bar hopping in the«southside» district, a group of locals told us to check out Jimmy D’s for a good bar to dance in. Walking up to the bar, we were refused entrance due to our attire, which was t-shirts and jerseys for the opposing team. The bouncers were outright rude and offensive. When asked why denied entrance the reason they gave was«we have the right to refuse business to anyone for any reason, since this is a private establishment». They said they thought that the fact that we were wearing clothes representing another team would upset the other patrons and cause a fight. The fact that a local bar would refuse business is just baffling to me, especially a group of young women looking to have a great time and celebrate a special event. To make it worse the police officer standing at the front door was rude, misogynistic, and demeaning to a group of people that was just asking why such a rule was in place– we were just trying to have a great time visiting this new city. What a way to portray Pittsburgh bars in a negitive light. I would recommend for anyone visiting the city to save yourself and go anywhere else.

This bar is not even worth my time that I’m spending to write this review. Their bouncers try to use intimidation to scare possible business away. They refused to let my friends and I in because we were wearing an opposing sports teams gear. I could not believe a business would refuse service due to something so trivial.

We were really excited for a night out in Pittsburgh as it was our friends bachelorette party and all 7 of us had never been to the area before. The bar owners refused to let us in because we were wearing sports gear that was of the opposing team. The men at the front door were extremely rude and I cannot understand that they did not want 7 women willing to spend money in the establishment for a special occasion there. Will take our business else where for future Pittsburgh visits.

Got caught in a fight between a few very dunk guys, scariest moment of my life. None of the bartenders or anyone working there attempted to stop the fight.

Takeover Tuesdays – pretty much the reason to go out mid-week. The dancing starts at 10, and you can certainly have a lot of fun. Be warned, it does get more and more crowded as the night goes on. The drinks are… well…they’re just standard drinks, but the bartenders are all really friendly. I enjoy coming here on the weekends as well because it seems to have a core of loyal followers. Dancing, tons of fun. The music has always been good when when my friends and I go. Be warned, it does seem to be a hangout for lots of single guys – it’s especially apparent when they line up on the edge of the dance space like high school wallflowers.

Decent… 3.5 This was my 2nd adventure here. I don’t remember my first time so that’s why the review waited. haha There are two floors. From the first floor, it looks like a regular ol’ bar. It has some tables on the back wall. & a bar of course. Upstairs there is another bar and the dance floor. We enjoyed ourselves here for St. Patty’s day. They made electronic mixes from everything to Nirvana, Skrillex(uh that’s already electronic, my bad), Kanye ect. I did hear the same Jason DeRulo song 4 times. but I guess we were there for 4 hours so I can’t judge… But even though«Talk Dirty» just came out, I’m officially sick of it. thaaanks I don’t get why there isnt a bathroom on the second floor. Also, i don’t know if i’m the only one who noticed– but there are 2 men’s restrooms and only one woman’s.

I came here on a Saturday Night and found the place filled nearly wall-to-wall. I have never seen at Pittsburgh dance club at such a capacity! I liked that there were so many other people, but it was a hassle having to meander to one bathroom serving two floors. The crowd was disrespectful. There were several guys who just walked up to my friends and started dancing on us. Seriously? The walls were also lined with guys just staring at people dancing. It was pretty much a 21+ frat party. The music was okay. The DJ played songs that my group enjoyed but had difficulty transitioning between tracks a few times. There was a $ 5 cover with free admission for students with their student ID. Also note that smoking is permitted, but I only see a few people seize the opportunity on the second floor.

Love Jimmy D’s! It just gets so crowded!!! I’m glad they remodeled it to accommodate more people, and they’ve started actually counting everyone that goes in. There is a different DJ upstairs and downstairs on a busy night, and the drinks are very reasonable. The atmosphere is very laid back, and everyone is just there to have a good time. This is definitately one of my favorite bars in Pittsburgh.

Right up front I have to dock a star for smoking. Ew. Gross! It needs to just be all non smoking… oh to go home and not smell like an ash tray! Jimmy D’s was WAY different back in the day when I went there. I knew it had good music… but it had been a while. I’m not a house music type of girl, I need some down and dirty jams! So going to Villa first was a total bust. Not a house music fan. This place plays the good stuff. Lots of Rap, R & B and old school jams! The stuff you can get down with! Since I’m a total old head now, I want to hear some Biggie mixed with some LMFAO and some dirty Dougie tunes! You’ll find that all here. The drinks are CHEAP cheap cheap here, with well drinks and domestic beers being under $ 3…YES! I get grumpy if I have to pay over $ 5 for anything in the Burgh! So I’m into this. The ONLY weird thing was that the floor upstairs shook with every bounce and step. It was pretty dead when we got there, but once everyone was on the dance floor, it was bouncing pretty hard. I mean, if the floor gave way, they’d be a lot of good lawsuits going… so hopefully that doesn’t happen… but I’d say it’s a little weird to feel the floor shake below you… I guess that’s the price you pay for the good jams…
