I went to Eyetique because it was listed on my insurance’s website, and I was hoping to get my glasses completed quickly as I had scratched my existing pair. I was told that if the lenses were in stock, then I would likely have them no later than the next day, probably the same day. This was just what I was looking for, as I was scheduled to leave for vacation about 5 days after my appointment. The exam was fine, and the doctor kept saying he wanted to «push» my eyes to get them to be as good as they can be. Fine, sure, great. I want the best vision I can have. He then asks if I want glasses and sets me up with a sales person to pick out new frames. The sales man was very nice, chatted with me, and was honest with his opinions about the frames that I was trying on. I appreciate that, and we kept on narrowing it down until I had picked out my top choice. First, I was told that my glasses could not be made in time for my vacation as «the order for the day went out at 4:30»(which is when I was in my eye exam) and one of my lenses would need to be ordered the following day. Okay, not a big deal. Outside of their control, but the order going out for the day becomes important later in this saga. Now, I have very good insurance, but the sales man informed me that my glasses should have cost nearly $ 1,000 before insurance and that my insurance is «great» so it would only cost me over $ 400. I was FLOORED. There was no discussion of a price range that I was comfortable in, and there was no question about whether or not I have a budget(which I do– I’m a social worker for goodness sakes!). I don’t even have a strong or outlandish prescription or anything fancy with regard to my lenses. I was speechless, and in my sticker shock daze, I went ahead and gave him my credit card. After leaving the store, I spoke to my husband on the phone, and I realized how outlandish that price was for a basic pair of glasses. I called back literally 30 minutes after walking out of the door, and I was told by the same sales man that helped me that there is no way to cancel my order as it was«already placed and in process.» My husband ended up calling back, and he was assured by the salesman that he would receive a call from the district manager the following day. No call the following day. Called and spoke to the store manager who explained that the district manager was off that day and assured us that we would receive a call the following day once he was back in the office. No call the day after that. The store manager called at 5pm to say that she had lost my husband’s phone number, and assured us that we would receive a call that day. Still nothing. Three days after the appointment and still nothing. We ended up going into the store and re-selecting frames that were in a more comfortable price point, as the store manager indicated that the district manager might approve an exchange and refund for the difference, but that would be up to him. She assured us that we would receive a call from the district manager that same day. When the district manager did finally call, it was not a productive conversation at all. He explained that the no refunds policy is «posted where it needs to be.» This apparently means it states«No Refunds– Exchanges Only» on the bottom of the receipt from the credit card machine, and as soon as you sign that receipt, you can no longer change your mind(quite honestly, I had no idea that companies were able to add writing to these receipts). This full policy is not outlined until you sign the itemized receipt, but the«No Refunds– Exchanges Only» is indicated to be sufficient to have you then. The district manager also indicated that the lenses had already been cut, so there was nothing he could do. This was infuriating, as we had been attempting to get a hold of him for 3 days, since literally 30 minutes after leaving. When asked why the order was not held while we discussed it, his answer was that it «had already been placed.» He offered to allow us to change the frames… for store credit for the difference. At that point in time, I said I would keep the original frame selection as I will not be patronizing their business at any point in the future. Definitely feels like a bait and switch here. If you live on any sort of budget, do yourself a favor and save your money and look elsewhere, even if your insurance offers them as an option.

I went into Eyetique to schedule an eye exam. I had already confirmed with my insurance that it would be covered at this location. The woman seemed to be totally out of it, she insisted on making a copy of my insurance card. Her co worker was totally uninterested in helping her even though he was not with a customer. I left with no appointment, the woman was to call me back that afternoon, she never did. The next week, I went to LensCrafters, walked in and got an eye exam. There was a voice mail from Eyetique notifying me that I had an appointment the next day. I never scheduled nor agreed to this appointment. This place is totally incompetent in my opinion.
