Stopped by for dessert last time I was in Pittsburgh and it was good. Nothing really stood out about flavors, and the service was ok.

Great flavors and the profits go to great causes! Two scoops, Banana Cream Pie and Southern Apple Pie makes a great closer.

The service isn’t fantastic here, the ice cream is just Perry’s hard, so nothing special from any other place, or even the grocery store. Why then give it 4 stars? The sales contribute to micro grants to good causes. Depending on the flavor of ice cream you get you might be helping a dad visit his kids, fund a baseball team, help a family after a tradgey. It is ice cream with a cause, located downtown near Market Square. Helping you cool down on a Sumner afternoon and feel good with the extra calories by donating to a family in need.

Awesome concept — a percent of sales goes to supporting various causes(not only limited to Pittsburgh!!!). Just sign up, and they will put you on the board and pair you with a flavor. Sweet workers — we came in late on a Friday night 10 minutes before closing and everyone was still super friendly. Plus, the scoop sizes they gave us were huge! Ok ice cream — I believe it is some type of generic ice cream not made in-house.

Everyone is always friendly here. Great concept: for every flavor sold they donate a portion of it to a specific cause. Prices are pretty steep and they don’t always have the flavors they have advertised. Ice cream taste is always excellent.

This place was highly rated on Unilocal so we headed over at 9:20 tonight(Saturday night) with excited 7 year old in tow. We walked up to the counter where we were told by an employee that they had to close 40 minutes early because it was just the two of them. Many others were turned away as well. This is not the way to run a business, Dream Queen. I am giving them 3 stars only because I applaud the concept.

After lunch at the arcade we were looking specifically for the best ice cream shop within walking distance. Fourd it! Walked in and were greeted enthusiastically. A wonderful young man explained the concept of supporting various non-profits by purchasing ice cream. Talk about taking the guilt out of indulgence! I had peanut butter s’mores and luxuriated in every bite. Returned the next day to show our support for charity and ate more ice cream. Love this place! Would have gone for 3 days straight but they are not open on Sunday. Great ice cream for even greater causes.

Wonderful service, delicious ice cream, and amazing flavors. The only improvement I would make is to add lids to the cups for people who want their ice cream to go.

Let’s get this straight: no, the ice cream is not homemade, but Perry’s is a pretty solid vendor! A visit to Dream Cream isn’t simply about the ice cream itself, but the mission and cause behind what they do as a business. Their philanthropic business model alone is enough for me to promote this great place. My sister and I tried the Birthday Bash and Butterscotch Swirl. It’s reasonably priced and the hospitality of the employees is fantastic. Really inspiring idea!

What’s Your Dream? This is the question Dream Cream Ice Cream asks… More than a great place, this is a GREAT concept. They have been open for a couple of summers, and every time a «first time» customer comes in they receive you with a round of applause. Way to make you feel special! Once that’s done, they introduce you to their mission. Every ice cream flavor represents a cause, it’s there to collect money for someone that needs it. It could be for a cure, a shelter or even to help one of their employees save for college. Point is, their mission is to help, and they are genuinely happy to do it. All you have to do is go to their site, share your«dream», pick a flavor and apply. You might think that they would raise the prices really high to do this but, not at all, at only $ 3 a generous scoop and $ 5 shakes, you are going to be able to help again and again, and indulge in their mouthwatering flavors. The birthday cake has real cake in it, the butter pecan is creamy and perfect, they have a peanut butter s’mores flavor, red velvet(which I can imagine is very popular), and many more but, as soon as I saw the Banana Cream Pie, I had to have it. Real creamy banana flavor(my favorite), with wafers. It was the perfect sweet, comforting dessert for a hot summer day. The menu changes, obviously, with the applicants’ choice of flavors, giving people the opportunity to try different things and help many. As of right now, they are only in Pittsburgh but have the Dream to expand and go to other major cities, with the goal to help more and inspire others to do so. I for one, would eat ice cream every day to see them succeed. Wish their dream, and everyone else’s that participates in this wonderful project, comes true.

I always have a pleasant experience at Dream Cream. The staff is really nice and I’m usually in and out. They offer a variety of different flavors and my favorite flavors so far are the coconut and coffee ice creams. Not a big fan of the crazy ice cream flavors like Popcorn or Rainbow, but if you like something off the beaten path, you can find some options here.

Love the idea of this place. Indulge in yummy ice cream and help someone’s «Dream» happen. The ice cream was good. I’m think milkshakes could be a little better. Overall recommend this place!

Delicious ice cream! Always a lot of flavor options to suit any palate. The prices are reasonable, service is quick and the portion sizes are substantial– there are times I’ve been okay with a «single scoop»! Proceeds go to charity and the scoopers are volunteers from those charities, and it’s always interesting to hear their stories!

Best ice cream I’ve ever had and for a good cause. As soon as we walked in the door the cutest little boy walks up to us and asks«have you ever been here before?» We answered that no we hadn’t and as soon as we said that everyone started clapping! The man explained that they were clapping because we were supporting a wonderful cause – every week volunteers from an organization come and 25% of your purchase goes directly to them! It was a wonderful concept and not to mention, all the flavors were amazing!

Dream Cream makes you feel great about indulging. You’re not there to eat ice cream, you’re there to make a donation. At least that’s how I justified it

Love the changing variety of flavors! The coconut one with almond fudge is amazing. Plus you can’t bet the fact that you are helping make dreams come true by eating ice cream! Love the idea. The people, ice cream and dreams were great :)

I’d been meaning to stop by here for some ice cream for awhile, but the opportunity didn’t arise until tonight. My friend and I were headed to the Benedum to see Annie, but she didn’t want to have dinner beforehand. I asked her if she wanted to get ice cream, and she assented, so we headed to Dream Cream for a quick before-show snack. My friend and I really liked the concept of this business – since others have articulated it in their reviews, I won’t rehash it. When we walked in, we were asked if it was our first time here, and we confirmed that it was, so we were given a round of applause by all of the employees. The two young men behind the counter gave us samples of the red velvet ice cream, which was the flavor of the month and supported the Children’s Miracle Network. While the flavor was interesting and tastier than I’d imagined(I’m not a huge red velvet cake fan), I decided against committing to a scoop, but the good salesmanship won over my friend. Instead, I went with the birthday cake ice cream, which was quite delicious – almost on par with the similar flavor at Dave and Andy’s – which supported another employee’s effort to obtain hospitality training to start a restaurant. Regardless of which flavor you choose, you can’t go wrong, since they serve Perry’s ice cream, and they all support a great cause! The one suggestion I have is to provide signage or labeling indicating the cause that each flavor supports, since this may sway some people’s decisions. I did ask, and one of the employees said he knew all of them, but I didn’t want to trouble him to recite them all, so I just chose a flavor and asked him to tell me what the cause was. Other than that, this place is a great way to give back to the community while enjoying some delicious treats, so give it a try if you haven’t stopped by yet!

Before heading to the Benedum Centre to see a musical we felt like having ice cream. I was actually just looking for an ice cream store nearby and I am so glad I found Dream Cream. The staff is exceptional. Friendly, chatty, simply lovely. I love the fact that with each and every single flavor you’re supporting someone’s dream! Not only a charities dream but also an individuals dream. On top of that, the ice cream that I tried is by far one of the best I’ve had in Pittsburgh. The place itself doesn’t look very fancy, but who needs a fancy place when you have very welcoming and always smiley and bubbly staff members. This alone, plus the best ice cream in Pittsburgh so far would be more than enough to go back. And that your sweet tooth also supports someone’s dream, makes it all just perfect.

Who knew that buying ice cream would be helping another achieve their dreams? You get delicious ice cream and help out a good cause: a win-win situation! I stopped by just before a show at Heinz Hall and had the opportunity to meet 3 cute ladies, who each explained what they were raising money for. I initially only wanted 1 flavor, but I ended up getting three(not because I’m a fatty) because I wanted to support the girls I’ve met. The ice cream is delicious– thick, creamy and flavorful. They have a bunch of flavors(20 or so?), and you can try some of the unconventional ones before you decide. As for the price– super affordable. Three huge scoops in a waffle cone with $ 5? And support a project? You can’t beat that.

I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed Dream Cream. We’ve been coming since their opening night awhile ago. I absolutely love the concept of how proceeds go to a Dreamers dream or a local charity/organization. For instance, at the moment the cookie dough is for the Urban League to create more school programs to help more kids graduate. Even my diet can’t argue with that! They always have many flavors to choose from + yogurt or sherbet flavors(Perrys Ice. Cream) The owner is really nice. We’ve been coming so much that we always chat with him and catch up while we are there and wave as we’re walking past on the days that we don’t stop in.

Eating Ice Cream to help a noble cause. Pretty Awesome! right? Well, it gets better — the prices are very reasonable and the staffs are super friendly and professional A portion of the money for each flavor goes to a specific cause. If you’re interested in knowing the cause — Thomas(the owner) will be more than happy to give you a run down of that specific or other many course the store supports. And don’t worry — the same flavor doesn’t always go to the same cause — they rotate every now and then but you can always ask before trying. So, go help out a cause and spoil yourself with one of the many flavors of Ice Cream.
