Just ribs and chicken, with sides. The meat is a little on the dry side, but their wonderful barbecue sauce quickly cures that. The ribs are very meaty. I wasn’t impressed with the sides, but I only tried two — the cole slaw was chopped almost to a mush and what they were calling«red beans and rice» was actually dirty rice. Maybe they don’t like the term«dirty» rice? But I’m a fan and I’ll be back for the chicken or the ribs.

So my wife dragged me downtown for the City of Pittsburgh’s annual Light Up Night.(A night when all of the downtown office buildings, stadiums turn on their lights, have ice skating, ice sculptures, music, food, lots of activities for kids and fireworks) My wife and daughter go to Light Up Night every year but, this was my first time. There were people everywhere! Twenty five thousand or more easy. Every place I went to, to try to get food was either packed or had ran out. So while in Market Square I though of A & J Ribs! Boy am I glad I did. Not only were they open but their line only had a few people in it when I walked in! They now have added fried chicken to the menu and it is damn good! I got a five whole wing dinner with two small sides and a can of pop for $ 8.99. The fried chicken is made to order so it took about 15 to 20 minutes to get because they were busy but, boy was it worth the wait! The sweet potato pie was good as well!
