From my 10/20/2014 review on the old business site. This location is now called Lightning Creek. My husband and I visited on 17 October 2014. We went to listen to a live band called Makenna & Brock and to dance. This was our experience: When we first entered the building it was well lit. A stereo was playing in the background. An employee of Lightning Creek ran in from outside and informed us that there would be a $ 10 per person cover charge for the live music. I’m not sure what time Makenna & Brock started, but from what my husband and I saw it was not impressive. It was our understanding that the band would begin playing between 9 and 10p.m. When 10:30p.m rolled and the realization set in that we were wasting our time watching the band spend their time at the bar and/or wonder around the building… well we decided to cut our losses and go downtown to the 505 or Bourbon Street. I was told by an employee of Lightning Creek that there would be no refund for the cover charge. I was also told that the band would not start because there weren’t enough customers. Sorry, but I paid money to hear a band and dance with my husband. The evening at Lightning left me wondering if we paid for the privilege to watch somebody else drink our money. I’m not sure if the decision to wait for more customers was made by the Makenna & Brock band or if it was a Lightning Creek policy, either way it was incredibly unprofessional. Based on our experience we would never return to Lighting Creek and we would not go out of our way to watch the band play or drink or whatever they might decide to do when booked. It was an incredibly disappointing experience. As I explained to the employee of Lighting Creek, it wasn’t my fault they didn’t have enough customers and 10:30 p.m. was too late to wait and see if the band would actually start playing. There was one positive about visiting Lightning Creek… the drinks are reasonably priced. However, do not expect any employee to check on you at your table. You will have to walk up to the bar to receive any type of service. Also, even if you purchase drinks, a cup of ice water will still cost you $ 1. My husband and I do not have many opportunities to go out dancing so I don’t know if charging for water with the purchase of another drink is typical of these types of establishments.
