Im very picky and found good consistent food and a variety of food. However ive had the hardest time with getting them to get the sauce right on my orders. The place is always clean they are generally friendly until i called about the. Latest mix up. They kindly offered to replace the meals we bought when we wanted to come back. They took all the information down and said he would put it on the board. Well… I called to let them know i would be sending my son to pick up the orders i was confronted with a nasty dry attitude grilled me like im stealing from them. When all this could’ve been avoided by checking my order. Who likes to pay good money for some food to drive all the way get ready to eat and cant because the food u wanted and paid for was not whar u asked for. Im the one should be mad??? Especially when u know its a problem. One lady there older lady is very attentive to customers and your order. Whens shes there i NEVER have a problem.

Great food. Delicious bbq that tastes home made but better. I’ve had lunch about a dozen times here and they have never disappointed. I’ve had the rib tips and ribs each time and are smoky and tasty. I’m glad downtown Pittsburg has cleaned things up and this place is in the center of it. Hard to find good bbq in the East Bay which makes this place even better. Authentic tasting bbq with great service and flavor.

Sadly I too must give Dad’s a poor review I went there last night craving barbecue ribs since the joint I normally go to was closed I have been passing by this place for years and never bothered to go in, so tonight I traveled all the way from Antioch to try their BBQ. When I went in the service was friendly the place was clean that was a plus, but once I got the food that’s where the problem started First of all they give you baby portions potato salad in a to-go container that is usually reserved for salad dressing baked beans out of the can with no real flavor and what you call rib tips were not because they just got the end piece, cut into the meat sliced up to make it seem like it was a lot I paid $ 17 for ribs and rib tips and I didn’t get $ 17 worth of food I brought an Order of tri-tip which was okay but in my opinion the sauce was just horrible, in all I was disappointed in the quality and the quantity of food. I don’t expect them to give me half a cow but I expect better from a barbecue joint when I spent $ 20 just for my meal me and my friend went in there and spent a total of $ 35 for two of us to eat and he came back home and was disappointed and didn’t even eat his food just put it in the refrigerator for $ 35 I could have went anywhere up here and ate a full meal and been satisfied needless to say I will not be returning back to Dad’s for anything I did not like the sauce the meat was moderate at best, the portions were small and I just was not satisfied so I don’t know when I’ll ever use that $ 5 gift card but my guess is I’ll probably just throw it out the window when I pass by and hopefully somebody who goes there will pick it up and be able to use it.

Met Dennis the owner. Very nice. Place is very clean, food order came right out and was delicious. The potato salad is off the hook. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Will use in the future for take out for home parties.

Went back, workers were friendly this time. Delicious ribs and hot links. Potato salad, baked beans. Mmm. They have mild, medium, and hot BBQ sauce. The«hot» is actually quite spicy. Yum. I’m starting to think this is my favorite barbecue joint, period.

I got word of this joint from a coworker when I told her the night before that I was craving some bbq beef ribs. She recommended this joint. I know she eats good for a skinny girl and that right there is where the root of the problem began… shes a skinny girl. HAHA! Anyways, I ordered takeout the half slab of BEEF ribs and I also ordered the double combo of tri-tip that she was raving about all night all with the sauce on the side. I like to taste the«time» people put into their rubs. I got home and realized the dude gave me a full slab of PORK ribs. WTH!!! I never order pork ribs anywhere because my own smoked pork ribs would turn Muslims into Catholics. I gave it an honest and forgiving go and came to the conclusion after just 2 ribs and some of the trip-tip that they care more about their sauce than the«time» put into the prep. The smoke ring was lousy as well as the rub. One would have to sauce it up a great experience. Their spicy bbq sauce was great though. The verdict: Go here only if you live close by and are craving great spicy bbq sauce and canned beans. Otherwise don’t waste your gas.

Terrible! The banana pudding is like the same consistency of Mashed Potatoes. I will NEVER go back to Dad’s! Absolutely disgusting!

Perfectly fine service.(We are white and Asian.) Food just OK. Sign in the window said gumbo but come to find out it’s only on weekends; disappointing.

I had the Ribs and Fried Chicken Wings. The ribs are tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. I chose the mild sauce, and it was a great compliment. I was able to pull the meat away easily with a fork. The fried chicken wings were tender and juicy inside, and the outside was light and crispy with a savory blend of spices. I asked for a small side of Mac Salad, but I think they forgot. It’s okay, I reminded them and they brought it out promptly. It was fresh and cold, cut into very small diced pieces, with some mashed potato consistency, and had strong mustard and pepper flavors, with hints of pickles. The chicken and potato salad could use a bit more salt, but I am sure many of you will find that to be a preference as I do, as one can always add salt, but one can’t remove it once it’s in there. The establishment is clean and orderly, with a family feel, as it seemed small children were present that were quite possibly related to the owners or staff. They were well behaved and respectful, and it was cute to see them talking about the food they were eating, and favorite songs. This was definitely a Mom & Pop shop, always a preference for me, as I prefer to support family owned business. It also appears to be a Black owned business, another preference of mine when it comes to BBQ, southern, seafood, and soul food combinations. I will definitely be back to try the fish and links … and quite possibly the peach cobbler

I was craving some BBQ last night, and my girlfriend suggested Dads. We pulled up, and on first impression, I wasn’t impressed. There logo/signage was very basic and didn’t resemble anything relating to BBQ. Its just and chef’s hat, with the Dads in the middle. We were served promptly, but without a smile. I was digging the old school, down home BBQ vibe, lines of white bread, checkered table clothes, and sit down counter. I ordered the combo, with pork ribs, chicken, beans, and potato salad. My girlfriend got the gumbo. While we where waiting, I noticed they where using no name GENERICBBQSAUCE. I also couldn’t stop staring at the photos of their banana pudding, and cobbler. It just looked messy, and unappetizing. The gumbo was on point, but I wish they didn’t use those small frozen shrimp. My food(combo) was average, and so were the portions. I was expecting more considering I paid $ 15 for it and was only offered three side options, macaroni, potato salad, and baked beans. I would have been happier if I could have chosen the Mac n cheese or the greens considering the price, and that I wasn’t paying for the atmosphere, looked more like a take out place. I might come back, but if your looking for some better BBQ, just drive to Oakland, or even Bone heads in Lafayette.

A lot of people complain about the ambiance and the service of this place and to that we say: get over yourself. No, there is no mood lighting or music and the staff aren’t going to greet you like it’s Disneyland but it’s FANTASTICBBQ. Isn’t that why you are going there after all? We have tried Texas Roadhouse, Dickeys, Back 40 and we would pick this place hands down over any of them any day. For the price it is a LARGE amount of food. We can barely walk out of the front when we are done. Who ever says that the portions are small must be a competitive eater. Go to Dads, especially if you live in pittsburg and only go downtown to eat at the Mecca.

Food was actually good. Service from the female waitress… no bueno. Coming from a Southern family whom throws down in the kitchen… and having an aunt and uncle who are complete beasts on the barbecue grill… I’m used to great food. I’ve been looking for barbecue as good as or close to my family’s. When I walked in, there was one family sitting down, and two people at the counter getting ready to leave with their food. The black lady working never said hello… just a minute. NOTHING! If you read my other reviews… this is a huge thing for me. It wasn’t busy… learn to be polite and acknowledge a paying customer. I didn’t walk out this time because I really wanted some ribs. I stood there. finally found my own menu… and eventually a black man… I believe he was the chef… walked up and asked if I was ready to order. He was very nice. Food wasn’t as good as my fams, but the ribs were very good. Mac and cheese was ok… baked beans were really good… but the potato salad… YUCK. stay away from it. I’d go back… and the black chick would want to play nice. I go zero to 100REALQUICK.

I’ve been coming to this fine establishment for sometime now. I usually order the Rib Dinner, which is absolutely delicious. Today I decided to try something different so I ordered their Fried Chicken & Fries and man was it slammin’. The chicken was cooked just right and the serving was very generous. The fries were average but that’s alright, no big deal. The chicken was very good and that’s all that mattered to me. I also ordered a small side of potato salad which is also one of my favorites here. At the end, I was very satisfied with the order and will be adding this item as a «go to» on my list.

I had a major craving for ribs for the past few weeks… the kind of craving that made me dream about amazing ribs for a few nights, the kind of craving that made anything I ate that was not ribs taste sad, the kind of craving that was truly all-consuming and made people wonder if I were pregnant. Dad’s BBQ has been on my radar for quite some time now, and since I needed to have ribs ASAP, I figured that it was a time as good as any to finally check them out. The place is decidedly not hole-in-the-wall as some reviewers seem to think. It is on the small side, granted, but it is clean and well-organized. The staff gave us immediate service and was quite friendly. I cannot comment further on service, however, as I chose to order to go. We ordered a half slab of ribs with medium spicy sauce. And for our sides, we ordered corn muffins, green beans, and potato salad. Our order totaled $ 40, including tax and tip(we did not order from their lunch specials). I should note that if you are looking for pulled pork, they do not offer it here, which was slightly disappointing. Upon opening the styrofoam container, we were greeted by ribs swimming in barbecue sauce. The sauce was quite delicious, but the ribs were just alright to me. I am left a little suspicious if they saw the inside of a smoker as they seemed more like baked ribs to me, which is not necessarily a bad thing but is not what I am looking for from a barbecue place. The texture was fine, not too tender but not tough, but my cousin said that some parts of his ribs seemed undercooked. The potato salad was quite tasty but a little too mushy for my liking, the green beans were delicious, but the corn muffins were disappointing. I am not sure if I would go back to Dad’s unless they sell that medium spicy barbecue sauce. But I thank them for inspiring me to go on a mission to learn how to smoke my own perfect ribs.
