We purchased boost mobile’s prepaid cellular service from this location, which took some work on the part of the staff to arrange a port from our existing phone number to the new one. They were very helpful doing so, and we left with our phone awaiting activation, having paid for what we thought was everything up front. Two hours later we got an email from Boost Mobile that our account was ready but there was not enough money in the account to activate the phone. This was not the case, since we had already paid for that(55 $) on site when we bought the phone. We called Radio Shack and the fellow who had sold us the phone assured us that the money just hadn’t posted and that it soon would, at which point the phone would automatically be activated. This was not the case. The following morning we still had no service, so I called Boost. They explained that what actually had to happen was we had to give them a 12 digit PIN number from the receipt of our 55 $ payment, and have that applied to our account. I did that over the phone, and they were able to activate the device at that point. However, I was disappointed that despite extensive conversation with the staff about the process, and calling back when it appeared they were misinformed, we were still told the wrong thing as to what needed to happen. Never mind the ridiculous rigmarole needed; that’s on Boost, not Radio Shack. Having had that problem, I spoke with the store manager to ask about returning the phone and cancelling everything. The misinformation we received about the service, the lengthy wait to speak to Boost, and the fact that the phone has no service at all anywhere in our home led us to give up and try again. The manager was very helpful and understanding, and assured us we could return all material and they would contact Boost when we did so in order to get the service charge refunded as well.
