Food is very delicious, but… The food is very delicious, however it’s too salty. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and the burger was small and only 2 pieces of bacon which btw it was way too salty. Same goes for the beef pattie. Also is a bit pricey, but food is worth it.

This was my experience eating here at Sabor A Mexico. Semi-stale cold chips. Extra mild salsa. Meh. Big group comes in, like 7 or 8 people. One dude weights like 500 pounds. No kidding. Get our order in before the big group. Two taco combo Taco enchilada combo Small guacamole.(For the record, guacamole never makes it to table the whole time we are there) Another couple comes in and takes the corner booth. Time goes on. Glass door to patio has no hydraulic shock absorber so door slams like God slammed it and he’s angry. BAM! Surprised the glass did not break into a million pieces. Couple at corner booth can’t take the neglect anymore, get up and leave. We could still leave, it’s not too late. Oh no, food is coming. A few minutes later another couple sit in same corner booth of invisibility. Tacos very very small. Same stale tortillas used for tacos. Beans are sour. GF: Don’t eat the beans. Me: Why? GF: Rancid. Me. Eww gross. Me: Are we going to get sick? GF: I hope not. Tacos are just okay, not very good. I’m afraid while I eat. Don’t want to get sick. Second couple get up and leave due to a lack of acknowledgement of their very existence. Patio door slams again. BAM! Check please. Check please. Check please. One and only waitress only worried about the big table with the 500 pound man. Check please. Two more couples take the booth of doom and neglect. Good luck folks, Bön Appetit! Walk to front. Check please. Finally get check. Give Visa to 12 year kid who works there. Credit card machine runs out of paper. Time goes on. Is Ashton Kutcher going to pop out and tell me I’m being punked? No, I’m not famous. This is really happening. We did not get sick for the record. Let’s just say it’s doubtful we will return.

Our waitress was very nice, and gave us great recommendations of the Molcajete, which was delicious, but HUGE. EASILYENOUGHFORTWO.

Save your money. This place is nasty. I had the huevos rancheros. It came with rice and beans. They looked like they were old. They were also cold. The chips were cold and stale. My husband had menudo… he said it was ok… their prices are high for the quality of their food.

Carnitas tostadas and horchata from this place are unreal. Literally the best carnitas I have ever eaten in my life. The chips were stale but the salsa was fresh and spicy and FULL of cilantro and veggies. Service was slow but it was also the Fourth of July so that’s understandable. But seriously, get the carnitas tostadas. They’ll blow you away.

Because they keep the doors open, there were flys landing on me and my food every 30 seconds. Super gross and annoying! The restaurant was empty and it still took 15 minutes for the food to get to us. I started to get antsy since I was hungry and getting grumpy. The food was average, the cost was high, and the flys were gross. I won’t be going back there again.

Sabor a Mexico is the same place! simply went way down hill… sorry.(for me). We used to love this place as it was family owned(by a family that liked and knew how to run it. Ok… so pros and cons: The only pro now is it is in a great location, the inside is reasonably clean and well laid out, some of the food is passable(fair to midland). The cons: The host and waitress(which may be part of the new family running it, not sure) has no skills to waitress, and is a bit rude… the bell rang in the kitchen to indicate her order was ready, and after about three minutes the cook rang the bell again and she snapped back while taking an order from a table«Hey, I know, I will get there!» Next, the place is about ½ full and they seem like they are running a marathon(can’t keep up) so it is taking a long time. So what do I want to see? Yes, another potential family member(kid about 13) eating his food in the kitchen where the whole place can watch, and his friend(appeared to be) back there with him picking up food from the prep table and shoveling it in his mouth. The scary part was the other cooks helper who appeared to be about 12 was using a very dirty towel to wipe on the counter, then out to the table in the place to wipe it down, then threw it on a sink full of dishes and repeated this with the same towel a couple times(gross). The food finally came, and the chili Verde omelet was okay, but wait! chips and salsa never came! thought they were just running real slow.(HALF the reason I go to a Mexican Restaurant is to have chips and salsa in my face right away… oh well, WAY better places in the area now(not sure about Mexican), but Pizza and BBQ… I am sad for me, because had been going there for years! Now, I will NOT go back until is changes owners again… which will likely be soon.

Service is horrible. The restaurant was completely empty our order on the counter and the waitress was ignoring us eating an apple after we asked to have our order. She finally let us pay, their machine wasn’t working properly and she refused to figure it out so we had to pay differently. We went home with their silverware, which was bizarre for a to go order. Our food was a disaster, the fish wasn’t cooked properly and my chicken was overcooked. I’ve always overlooked the small things about this place but the attitude of that waitress was awful and the food being bad and making my friend sick just topped it off. Never going back again.

I’m giving the extra star because they were open on Christmas. We had the enchiladas and chili relleno. The meat was over cooked and dry. Food coming out was pretty fast but after that we never had any refills, etc. it’s alright if your hungry and no other options. We won’t be back here though.

We went here on a Saturday night at about 8 pm with a group of 21. We were told we had too many people and they couldn’t serve us. It wasn’t very busy. Ridiculous!!!

I can tell the difference between chewing meat and chewing fat, cartilage, or gristle. Please do not go here. My experience was in the summer of 2013 and the actual owner prepared my food. Standards are set low. Perhaps the lowest quality food I have had in California, but it’s only been 18 years here.

Not good! I wanna say average but it’s definitely below average. Flys all around landing on our food, service was ok and the food was bad. I got the big wet burrito combo and barely ate it. The steak tastes like its been sitting there for days with absolutely no taste. Bad everything no reason to ever come here

Oh man, I’m actually embarrassed about how bad it was. I tried to like«Sabor A Mexico» as it was recommended by friends, but it wasn’t good. The people there are really nice, so it’s hard to write a negative review, but I hope they get some help and pull it together. It has potential, but the food was just not good.

The name is now«Sabor A Mexico» and the food continues to be without a doubt the best I have had in a long time. Service was first rate and the cooks went out of their way to create a magnificent plate of Chile Relleno(with a white sauce with veggies) Cheese and onion enchilada and a chicken taco that is better than anything I do at home. The refried beans melt in your mouth and all was washed down with a cold draft beer, American and imported. I know there may be some who would not agree with my food reviews, but each of us have specific likes. I love food from every nation and when I find good places to eat I have to tell everyone I know. Stop by and give them a try.

OMG… this place was horrible. I’m sure they’ve survived simply because of their location and the fact that not everyone reads Unilocal reviews. We returned the first order of a carnitas burrito because the meat was burned. We finally gave up after the second attempt because it came back burned as well. At least they took it off our bill. The chile relleno was just OK. Their one redeeming quality… they serve Coke products. We won’t be going back.

This is a nice no frills Mexican Restaurant in the heart of Touristy Pismo Beach. I stopped there for breakfast while doing a routine weekend ride. They serve both Mexican and American breakfast favorites… We opted for Mexican: Huevos Divorciados was nicely presented, a large portion with fresh veggies in the homemade sauces. The shrimp omelette was on the bland side and did not have Jumbo shrimp as advertised and a small amount of nicely cooked home fries. The service was very good. I give this 4 stars for this area… If the whole of SLO county were culinarily competitive it would certainly not be 4 stars… but given the very limited choices here it’s 4 stars. .Definitely a good place if I were hung over and back in college as they serve beer along with decent coffee.

Cool little spot, just like past reviews said, the sign is what caught our attention. My wife had the asada tacos which she said were good, and I had chicken enchiladas, wasn’t too impressed but then again I’m a verde sauce kind of guy instead of rojo. The rice and beans were damn good and they just started serving Victoria cerveza, good stuff!

Don’t let the poor spelling on the Happy Hour sign dissuade you: this place is real-deal delicious.(Actually, I found the spelling of ‘Fri’ as ‘Fry’ to be quite charming, and it was one of the reasons we decided to try this instead of a more American-ized Mexican restaurant, but to each her own!) We stopped in on a blustery afternoon after a lengthy bike ride from Avila Beach. The place was empty except for us, but that meant we got one-on-one service from the nice older Mexican woman working. She was prompt with refills on both drinks and chips and salsa. The salsa was a little spicier than I would have thought, but really good, and the chips had that super fresh crunch that only good, homemade tortilla chips can have. I got the chicken flautas, and my husband got the lobster tacos. He loved his, but I was definitely glad I got what I did. The flautas had a crispy, almost-sweet crunchy shell, and the seasoning was excellent. Each meal comes with rice, refried beans, lettuce, and guacamole. We were starving from the ride, but this really hit the spot and didn’t leave us feeling like we couldn’t make the 8 miles back home. Should I find myself back in Pismo looking for Mexican food, this is the place. Plus, we love supporting small businesses, and while I don’t know what it would be like in the on-season(we visited in the beginning of March), it was not too crowded, and I want to see good restaurants like that survive.

Everything was delicious! I ordered the fish tacos and they were cooked to perfection. And the horchata is creamy-definitely not the powdered kind. And I also had the fried ice cream and wow! It was all gone within minutes. Service is great and the prices are affordable. You should definitely drop by if you’re in the area. I mentioned this place in my blog:

What a hidden treasure! This unpretentious pink diner in Pismo Beach serves the most delicious homemade Mexican seafood. We were meeting friends for dinner. Feeling rather nauseous at the time, I thought I would just order Jamaica and enjoy their company. However, after seeing their platter arrive, I had to order something shrimpy. Our friends ordered the shrimp platter that seemed expensive at 54.00, but it fed their family of five well. It actually should have been called«Forrest Gump Special» because it was like a «box of shrimp; you never know what you’re gonna get!» It included garlic shrimp, bacon-wrapped shrimp, fried shrimp, flat-ironed shrimp… you get the idea. And in the middle of the platter was a mound of carne asada, beans and rice. I finally decided on a lobster tostada that was not on the menu. Viva Mexico has lobster tacos, but not tostadas. They kindly obliged me and WOW! What a flavor explosion – enough to knock that queasy feeling right out of me! I suppose the pickled jalapenos mixed in might have helped. This seems like a weird combo mixed into the lobster but it had such balanced sabor it was incredible! I did not gobble down one of these lobster tostadas, but TWO because I had to have another one! Everything here was great from the friendly staff to the yummy Mexican seafood. Run, Forrest, run to Viva Mexico!
