Claire’s, a jewelry store? What a joke! I walked in and asked right away if they could sell earrings for piercing without having the piercing done at their store. I was told yes by the manager, and that it would be $ 8 off the price listed on the sign and was told they were sterile in the packaging. My child has an appointment to get her ears pierced at the doctor’s office on Wednesday, but we wanted to buy 14k CZ studs before hand since they can’t be changed for several weeks. We picked them out, got to the register, and the lady started opening the box. She stopped herself only to say that they can’t sell them in the box. They have to take them out and close the backing onto the stud. I commented that they wouldn’t be sterile anymore. The manager turned around and said it was their policy. I asked what the reasoning was for the policy. She said, «Because we can’t be responsible for people piercing their own ears… You can try Sally’s or something.» I explained that we have an appointment in two days with her doctor to have it done. She responded, «It doesn’t matter. It’s our policy.» First I would like to say that it’s the same concept of refusing to serve alcohol at a bar because you can’t be responsible for people drinking and driving. It’s absolutely ridiculous! Second, setting aside the fact that they lost a $ 50 sale and a customer permanently, I had to walk away with a very upset 4 year old because we didn’t get to buy the earrings she picked out and has been anxiously waiting to get for the last few days – and I’m left having to try to explain why. Such poor management of this store! I definitely won’t return in the future!

Ew. This place was gross. They should call it, «Dumb Girls.» Trashy Chinese jewelry for trashy moms and their sad, plastic kids. The place was very crowded. We went in so my 10 yr old daughter could get her ears pierced and she looked around and started saying, «too much pink! too much pink!» I couldn’t find the ear piercing area and asked the cashier where it was. It was just a little place up in the front window. Didn’t seem sterile or comfortable at all. I didn’t see any employee there that I would have trusted with the job. My kid said«no way!» and pulled me out of there. We went to a body piercing place where there were real professionals who gave her a mellow, painless ear piercing experience. Why do people think they need to buy this stuff? Buy something of quality, made in America. Or make your own pretty stuff! No wonder American girls are so bad at math and science by the time they graduate. Their parents are raising them on crap like Claire’s.

You can find some really cute scarves here on sale sometimes. I usually go straight for the clearance racks at the back of the store. There almost always is a clearance rack for 50% off items that are more than $ 10 originally. There is also a clearance rack for items that are less than $ 10 originally; you can get 10 items for $ 10 for these items. Sometimes you can buy one item for $ 1, but other times they require you to have 10 items to get the deal. There are usually signs for other sales in the store, but I almost always just stick to the clearance racks. I usually can find a few things that I could wear, but a lot of it is kind of out there or something you probably could use once or twice(e.g., hella glitter, feathers, holes or furriness). I have found scarves and tights here for under $ 5. The scarves have held up in the wash, so I’m pretty happy. There’s some cute earrings in the sale area, but I usually can’t find 10 items to get the 20 for $ 10 deal. The earrings tend to not hold up as well as the scarves, so I feel the scarves are much better deals. The staff is helpful and almost always offer you a basket to hold your items when you’re shopping. Sometimes you can get coupons to use for your next purchase, like a few dollars off of your next purchase of X amount of dollars. Overall, good place to get some cute cheap accessories.

Love their clearance racks! If you go during a promotion time with clearance items, you’re bound to find a good deal. Unlike other Claire’s I’ve been to, this one actually has buyable items on their clearance racks! By that I mean, usually the Claire’s I go to in the South Bay have really ridiculous items on sale that aren’t very professional(an example would be neon pink leggings with holes in them everywhere or ridiculously furry boots in neon colors), but there’s actually some nice items that are on sale here. I’ve gotten some really warm and fluffy knitted black tights for about $ 3 and some regular black tights with dotted print for about $ 2. I’ve also seen some pretty nice quality scarves for around $ 2. They have about 2 racks with the 10 for $ 10 deal which gives you a pretty good selection, but most of it is earrings and my ears are super sensitive, so I can never get up to 10 items from that. I believe there’s at least two cash registers, and I’ve seen them use both when it gets busy. It gets a bit crowded at the register, but it usually doesn’t take long to check out.
