Zero stars. Worst hair cut place ever! Instead of admitting they didn’t know how to achieve the style I wanted, they chose to cut it wrong and then try to explain to me that the way they cut it is actually the way I wanted it. I’m pissed! They butchered my hair the last time I went there and I decided to give them another shot with a different stylist and I guess that’s my bad because I hate my haircut again. Don’t go here for men’s cuts

I’m mortified from the experience I had here getting my hair colored.
The colorist wanted to wash my hair first in order to apply the dye. After washing my hair there were puddles of water all over the cheap plastic smock. (What they put on me resembled a cheap table cloth rather then a smock at a salon). I had to ask her to wipe the water off.
After applying the dye to my hair the colorist proceeded to mash my hair together very roughly. This was terrifying; it seemed as though this woman was inexperienced. Hair is delicate and should be treated as such not mashed around! The color wasn’t right and a second coat of dye had to be reapplied. This made me cringe because after the 1^st round I didn’t feel comfortable having this woman touch my hair.
In about two days the color had almost completely washed out.
I would steer clear of here and go to a salon with more experience and professionalism.

I have been here a few times. The 1^st chair hairdresser is good but she has regular clients and has never taken me, with or without appointment. The girl on 2^nd chair is ok. I go to her for basic trims 2 – 3 times a year because she does the job and you can’t beat the prices. My bangs, which are trimmed regularly, are trusted upon someone else.

I experienced a new hair salon on Saturday — Sweeney Todd Haircutters in South Plainfield. I had an appt and came a little early and was taken right away. I went with a new hair stylist, Chrissy and she did a fabulous job!!! I was going in for just a hair color and through conversation, got some highlights too! I received so many compliments. I would recommend this salon and this new hair stylist Chrissy! 5 Stars *****

Coupons! I got a coupon for $ 6.66 and let me tell you, THAT is a great price. Service was quick and my hairdresser (although she wasnt the one I usually go to) was polite but not over the top fake friendly. Sign up for their email coupons and they send them out like every 3 months — perfect for my haircut schedule.

When I went there in past and paid more for a Sr. stylist, I had a decent hair cut. I started getting email with coupons or half off haircut so I made an appointment and went there. In my rush to get there on time, I forgot my coupon and told the girl as soon as I realized it while signing-​in the front desk. The person was not so friendly and would not honor the half off coupon rate. I was told with attitude that it clearly says that you must have the coupon in order to get the $ 7 off. In these days where many salons take competitors and/​or expired coupons, I thought it’s bad business on the salon’s end that they would not honor the half off and let a customer walk away when you a free stylist … They just lost a customer — I won’t be going back — coupon or not…

I am new in town and really needed a haircut. This place is cute and very clean. Kelly cut my hair and was very friendly. I like the prices and they are very personable. It is not fancy but you do feel like you are being listened to.
I am satisfied and will be going back.

Refused to take 5 mins to blow-​dry my hair because she did not have time… that’s just bad business.
Did a poor job of shampoo/​rinse (spent like 30s… I had to ask her if there was still soap in my hair)
I asked her for hair advice. She responded politely but only gave short, direct answers. Wasn’t very helpful.
My haircuts have def looked better. It’s not terrible but I’m not thrilled either. I’d be pissed if it weren’t so cheap.

I love the a la carte pricing. A haircut is just $ 15 and they won’t blowdry and style it unless I actually want them to.
Unfortunately, the stylist who cut my hair was not friendly (didn’t say a word to me once she started cutting) and did a terrible job.
UPDATE: I went back and had a senior stylist (their rates are a little bit higher) give me highlights and a cut and she did a wonderful job! She was friendly and honest. Gave me her opinion but respected mine. And everything turned out amazing!
UPDATE: I have gone back several times now (mainly for highlights) and found another employee there who is just as good as the senior designer! (The senior designers cost a little more). But both of these girls were very friendly and chatty (but not too much) and did an excellent job on my hair!
For the price, I won’t go anywhere else! Oh and they also have awesome hours. I have since increased my review to four stars because I only had that one bad experience with a specific hair stylist and I have not seen her there since.
I also wanted to respond to Kisa below. When I first went for highlights there, I told the senior designer that I wanted red and I picked out the color. She informed me that red highlights on my hair would fade fast and that blonde would work better. While I knew what she was saying, I was not interested in blonde highlights. I did have to be more assertive than I should have been but I was firm on my decision and told her that I definitely wanted red. Well, when the highlights came out, she thought they were perfect! And i loved them too. So, while I do sort of agree that they might try to pressure you into something they want — it’s your hair, you make the final decision.
