A friend and I visited to try Indian food but not really knowing what to order. The two men behind the counter were so absolutely helpful. They were happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations for us. We ordered samosas, chiken tikka masala, and I forget the other order but it was all amaaaazing. I will be back!

So much improvement in dining and catering menus. Quantity for catering is more than expected and all the food items are fresh and delivered on time.

We have had food catered from sunshine on quite a few occasions and it has been consistently tasty. We haven’t had a chance to visit the restaurant yet, but may be soon.

Bad business practices and overpriced food. I came here twice. I gave them a SECONDTRY after my first bad experience. By the time I walked out of the door that second time, I was confident in my decision to never return. First visit: I came with my friend during dinner time, and we seated ourselves in the completely empty restaurant. I asked about some vegetarian dishes, including baingan and bhindi masala, and maybe one or two others, and they reported they were out of all the things I asked for… The only vegetarian dish I could get(that had no dairy) was the jalfrezi. My friend ordered one of the chicken dishes from the tandoor. The server asked us if we wanted it ‘dry’ or ‘gravy’ and we confirmed twice that my friend wanted the ‘dry’ dish. We also ordered the manchurian(with gravy), which comes with one bowl of rice. Halfway through, we were almost done with our rice and the server came by and kindly pointed out: «Oh, do you want some more rice? I can bring some out for you,» as he took our bowl. And I was pleasantly surprised and said, «Oh that’s nice. Yes, thanks!» The food was too salty, and also very heavy. Could not finish. After we packed up our food and went to pay at the register, I checked the bill. There were some weird prices I didn’t recognize. Wait, why was there an extra charge for rice?! The rice that he so kindly offered me earlier was actually something I was paying for without being told? I pointed out my surprise to the server, and he adamantly proclaimed that the rice was extra. There was no getting around it; he was determined to hold on to those few dollars of sneaky rice money. But then wait, why was the chicken dish we ordered also more expensive than the price on the menu?! We pointed this out, see, on the menu! And the server firmly told us that we ordered the ‘gravy’ dish, not the ‘dry’ one, and surprise surprise, the ‘gravy’ dish is more expensive. We insisted that that was not what we had asked for. He told us we were wrong. He was hostile. He argued for those extra dollars of that dish we didn’t order. Defeated, I paid the bill and figured I would come back some other time and give them another shot. Second visit: Again, it was empty inside. My friend and I seated ourselves. Again, they were out of things I asked for. I’m pretty sure they should take the baingan off the menu because it doesn’t exist. Samosas are overpriced, and have a very bland filling — nothing but potatoes. We ordered a different(dry) manchurian dish, which was essentially chinese fast food, deep fried and covered in ketchup. Bhindi was yummy, but again so salty. The saltiest bhindi I ever had. Could not finish. My friend’s paneer dish was a soup of heavy cream. Which seriously could use some rice. And that sever — yes, it was the same guy… — he tried the sneaky rice thing on me again. Come on! That guy was kind of mean again when I went up to pay. And, when I looked at the bill, I realized that this place is just not worth the price. For two people, at lunch time, and the bill well over $ 40, it is one of the worst deals in the area. As I left, I knew I wouldn’t be back. The folks here do not run an honest business, and that could be what drives away customers and keeps their tables empty all day long. Or maybe it’s because the food is not very good. There are a lot of wonderful indian restaurants in the Edison area. I can go to those other places, where I won’t pay extra just to have some rice with my meal.

Its surprising that i’ve been working close to this place for last 2 years and never knew this place existed. I tried this place with a bunch of colleagues past Monday and the food was delicious. We read that the service is pretty slow so we ordered food for 7 people prior to going there. That made it easier since food was ready by the time we got there and it was fresh and hot. We ordered the Pepper Chicken, Chicken 65, Paneer tikka Masala and chicken malai kebab. Chicken 65 with its flavor and spicy taste stood out. My colleagues are not into spicy indian food but they still liked other stuff. Everyone was happy with the food and wanted to go back there. Since then we have been there twice already for lunch. Everytime we order ahead as it saves time. So if you are going in a group, better call and order ahead. I would definitely come back.

We ordered food for our Diwali party from Sunshine. The quantity was more than we could ask, the food was very delicious… it was delivered at the time promised and the owner lady Ms Rekha was very cooperative and flexible. Had a very good experience. Will always consider Sunshine when it comes to catering.

Really good food at reasonable price… Usually I get take outs from this place with occasional dine in… The Biriyani is really good. They have a Hot breads Bakery in the same facility if you need dessert(P.S Hot breads accepts only cash). Overall the ambiance is not too pleasing but the food makes up for it…

Unfortunately, I seem to find out about great restaurants in places I’ve lived after I’ve moved from there. Lucky for me, this time I didn’t move so far away! Being 15 minutes away from Oak Tree Road, I often just opt to make the drive to Indian restaurants I know I are good rather than try new places and face the possibility of disappointment. However, I’m glad I took a chance on Sunshine! In my humble opinion, the thing they do best here are the snacks. I get the samosa chat every time I go and even though it sets my mouth on fire every time, the flavors are amazing! The samosa is piping hot and crispy with the cool yogurt sauce and other accouterments generously piled on top. Great combination. If you looking for something slightly less spicy, try the Dahi Puri, a twist on the traditional pani puri, with yogurt replacing the tamarind water. Their main courses also hold their own. I’ve tried the Chicken 65(deliciously spicy), and the Lamb Korma(amazing depth of flavor). The only bad thing is the service which can be slow even with not that many people around. Just get a snack for the delicious Hot Breads stand to tied you over while you wait!

This place had very reasonably priced, yet quite delicious, Indian food. We were even given raita on the house because we unknowingly ordered a «dry» dish. Give this place a try for fast food/take out.

the place looked a bit shady and parking was difficult. the food took a while to get to the table considering there were under 5 customers there but the food we ordered, palak paneer, rotis and matar methi malai, was very yummy for the price,. it was a bit heavy but tasty. will come back for the food again here !!

We have been doing take out from this place for more than 6 years. There was a time when they seemed to have changed the chef 3 – 4 years ago and the food quality dipped, but now they are back on track. We ordered some chicken biryani and chicken chilli last weekend and it was great. The prices are reasonable — its definitely a take out only place.

Sunshine makes really good Indian food at a great price and my wife and I love to eat here. But there is one thing we are disappointed with, their catering services. We had ordered food from them for a baby shower for 55 people. The first problem was that delivery was late, we asked for 11:30 — 12:00 and they came around 12:45. By this time everyone was hungry and anxious for the food. The second problem was that they are very stingy with the portions, we did not have enough Tikkis for Aloo Tikki chat or enough malai in the rus malai. In the future we will make sure not to order only from Sunshine but to only get the dishes we want by the tray instead.

I am amazed at how much this place has changed over the years. The place is a mini strip mall offering great sit down food and take-out, jewelry and DVD/CD movies. Adjoining is a grocery store. Their now larger kitchen offers all major diverse Indian foods — a very wide variety of North and South Indian foods. I loved the Patiala Chicken and Masala Dosa there was awesome. There is also a Hot Breads store branch located inside there which offers great deserts.
