Watch out… they sell you hard stale day old pastries as fresh!!! Bought some doughnut holes, they were hard, dry, stale and not good at all.

Stopped in for the lemon pistachio shortbread cookies which are my favorite. The owner was making lemon cakes and suggested I try. Now I have a new favorite. If I wasn’t in a hurry to get somewhere I would’ve turned the car around to buy the rest. Hopefully they have them on my next vistit.

Delicious croissants! Came in after seeing it on the Unilocal newsletter and it was amazing! Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their treats. We got a chocolate croissant and a maple bacon one.

These are all so good! So far I’ve had 4 different ones and I can’t decide which one I like the best. But the maple/bacon and lemon glaze is up there! Going to make this a weekly stop!

Love this place! The brown sugar shortbread is so delicious and of course the sugar cinnamon croissant(cronut,) is amazing too. Really friendly owner and employees. Love to stop by there for a snack and walk through the park. Never disappoints and the selection is great!

My family was craving for cronuts after they have tasted it while in LA and Lucky enough I found this bakery that bakes locally. I bought 2 dozens of mix cronuts and I got 2 free. My friend and I also bought one of each varities of the other goodies they bake. We sat on their comfy chairs and enjoyed every bite of them. Everything was so good!!! I regret that I should have bought what was left of the cronuts after I paid and saw there was a line if people that bought what was left of the cronuts. The baker/owner Chef Paul is really friendly. He also does catering, cakes, special orders etc. I would surely call Chef Paul first to make sure that he bakes me some cronuts especially the bacon cronuts before I go there. Yes, you can call ahead to make sure that there would still be some more cronuts for you left. While devouring all the cronuts, the customers that buys ‘em are buying by the bulk too like me. So make sure to call ahead because they sold out fast in a blink of an eye.

Today was my very first visit to this incredible bakery. I bought a variety of cronuts for coworkers. OMG! We absolutely loved them. I can’t wait for my next visit to this great bakery.

People are always happy to see you. They are in the strip mall around the corner from Tina’s and The famous Bear claw which holds it own. Next to the park, you park and walk in and look at the beautifully prepared yumables. I start at the far end and move slowly all the way round so you can see the attention to detail on each treat. Everything is hand made/homemade and delish. There treats never last a day on our island. You own it to yourself to try some very good, quality made yum. Go for it, you will not be disappointed!

This bakery is fantastic. Apparently the guy who runs it is a run man show and is a professionally trained pastry chef but the delicious treats served up every day at the Good Butter speak for themselves. The chocolate walnut brownies are perfectly gewy in the center but are not too heavy like most brownies. The crunuts, as always are delicious especially the expresso bean ones but the Russian Tea Cookies are my favorite – buttery yet not too heavy and melt in your mouth delicious. Yay Pinole for supporting such a great home grown bakery now lets continue to support him so his business continues to thrive!

Never had a croissonut/cronut before so I was excited to see that Good Butter offered them. I’m all about supporting local business so I was excited to try. The place itself is small and really hot on the inside. There’s a few tables but I wouldn’t want to eat in there just because of how warm it was. They had a large selection of desserts from their famous croissonuts to brownies. They also served paninis which sounded yummy from reading their menu. We got two croissonuts and it was about $ 3 each. A bit expensive but I understand because it’s specialty dessert. They have a $ 5 minimum for credit charges. We got the cinnamon brown sugar and maple bacon. I didn’t really know what to expect since this was the first cronut type thing I’ve had. Overall, it’s good. I enjoyed the cinnamon brown sugar. Not a big fan of the maple bacon but my bf liked it. To me, it just seemed like a croissant that was in a donut shape. It was flaky tho which I liked and there was some parts that were nice and moist. But for the most part it was a bit dry, which I guess makes since it’s half a croissant. Not sure if I would come back for the croissonut because I don’t see myself craving it. But it’s always nice to support local business! So maybe I’ll try their paninis and other desserts if I’m passing by.

Finally, we were able to find Good Butter open. More our bad luck than anything. Considering how late in the morning it was, there was still a pretty nice selection. I would like to try to get there when they have just opened, to see all their goodies. The shop is small, but the use of the space is really well done. Nice tables and chairs to sit and relax whilst you nibble. Clean. Fresh. We chose a lemon frosted Cronut, a lemon bar and a fig Petite Four. The petite four was a surprise. I’m use to them being rather dry with only the frosting to hold the bits of stale cake together. The figs must have soaked through the cake because it was very cake like. The frosting and little decoration on top was different. Can’t put my finger on what was different, but I don’t think I want to do that again. Now the cronet and lemon bar were a different story all together. Glaze on the cronet was not too sweet and the cronet it self was very flakey but with a bit of texture that made us have to bite and tear. The texture looked like that of a croissant, but wasn’t the same. Nice surprise. The lemon bar was a real delight. The baker said the lemon was a soufflé’ and I suppose it was. I’ll take his word for it, never having had a soufflé’, I wouldn’t know. But it was light and had a little curd texture that was very nice. Great lemon flavor and the cookie bottom was a very light, not overly sweet graham type crust. I would like to go back when I’m able to indulge again and get the Turtle brownie. That looked like a craving stopper if I ever saw one! I was shown the menu for sandwiches while there. The baker was very bubbly, informative and helpful. Over all, a great little bakery that should not be overlooked. They are located in a plaza with plenty of free parking. Fernandez park is on the other side of the plaza. Perfect for getting a treat and go play or take a walk.

This is a great little family owned bakery. The people behind the counter of very friendly, everyone has a smile of their face. The shop is small with a couple of tables. There is a small parking lot that seems to be always full. Street parking is easy; this is sleepily Pinole, not busy Berkeley or Oakland. They do the baking in an industrial kitchen in Richmond and bring everything to this shop. I haven’t tried the cronuts, a cross between a donut and a croissant, yet, but I have tried most of the other goodies they offer. I especially like the berries and cream, a little towel of cake, berries and not overly sweet cream. The tarts are also very good. Most of the cookies are good. It took me several stops before I felt I could write a review. I only buy one small treat at a time and it took me awhile to be sure they offered a good product. I wasn’t sure that they did when they first open, but I am now. So, 4 stars from me.

My first real experience with a Cronut and I was not disappointed. This place has some yummy treats!!! Tried the lemon glaze and chocolate glaze… And both were so delicious. Soft and flavorful. I can’t wait to go back and try the other stuff on their Menu!
