Fantastic Cuts & Design Salon

Anyone who knows me knows I’m very particular with who does my hair. Ever since my regular hairstylist left the area, I’ve been in desperate need to find someone who could do my hair. I called today to see if they could take me in, and the person I spoke to on the phone told me I could come in right away. As soon as I got there, Josue took me to his station and asked me what I wanted. I told him what color and showed him a picture of the cut I wanted. I also told him I wanted to keep the length, as I have been growing my hair out for a while. I explained to him that I was really upset when a stylist got too scissor happy with me and chopped off 4 inches when I asked for a 1 inch trim. He sympathized with me and actually showed me how much he planned to trim prior to doing anything with my hair. He did an excellent job and kept my hair type in mind, explaining how my layers would look with my natural waves. On top of that, he has a great personality and is super personable! We had some great conversations as we waited for my color. I am definitely going back to him and I would recommend him to anyone!

Let me first begin by saying, I am very particular about my hair. Matty at Fantastic is not only talented but a wonderful person! I always feel happy and satisfied at the end of every appointment. She has been cutting my hair for years. She is a true GEM!
I have very thick hair and I don’t really have time to style it everyday. I like to just wash it and go, and Matty gives me the right cut for this every time. I usually get long layers and on occasion, wispy front long bangs. Not to mention it is the right price, $ 25 is a steal. I decided to make a big change in January with my hair. I wasn’t sure what to do but I knew I wanted something a little fun but still appropriate for work. I decided on the color red. Often I see red on women and it either looks too bright or all in all, cheap. I was very hesitant at first, but decided to go with it. I cant imagine changing my red, it is everything I wanted and more! Matty executes my mermaid hair perfectly-​every time. My hair hasn’t been damaged by it all. I’ve had it now for about 7 months. I have long thick hair that reaches at the end of my back. At any other salon, it easily can cost 175 – 200. At Fantastic Salon, my coloring is a steal! $ 75!!!
I recommend Fantastic’s to everyone. Hell, I live 45 minutes away but I make the drive to Fantastics for all my hair needs!

I’ve never actually visited any hair salons for my haircut so I wanted to try something different. I walked in and met the owner, Mati, who was very sweet and nice. Luckily, I visited when it wasn’t busy but I noticed that there were plenty of haircut stations which is a good thing on busy days. Mati led me to the chair and cut my hair.
Not knowing what I wanted to do with my hair, she showed me plenty of pictures showing different men’s haircuts and gave me some suggestions of how I should cut my hair. I thought that this was very helpful as I honestly know nothing about hair. I ended up getting a fade. When the haircut was done, she styled it to make it look good and suggested products for me to use.
I like this place and will be coming back whenever I need a haircut. The prices are decent (about $ 15) and the workers are very nice. My new favorite haircut place!

I’ve cut my hair once here before and it was pretty decent. Wanted to come back again so I scheduled for a 2:00 appointment and it was closed. Even their voicemail said they were open from 10 – 7 so I’m not sure why they were closed. I would understand if they were to lunch or something but I had an appointment. Very disappointed. I wanted to have them be my normal hair cutter, but I would like reliability.

I have my own personal stylist that I go to in Benicia, but my parents have been going here for years (since her old location til this new one off San Pablo Ave.) and neither of them have ever been styled anywhere else but here since the 1^st time. Personally I come in when I just need a trim or a quick relayering or can’t find time to go to Benicia. I’ve seen Maty’s work on my Mom and she is always happy with the results — she got my Mom to do blonde highlights once! ;)
Sam has cut my hair a few times before — love how she layers and she has the cutest personality, you just wanna keep talking to her, haha. I’ve always been happy with the results and my hair always looks healthy.
Maty recently cut my hair and it was perfect — I asked to keep my length because I had been growing it out for awhile. I showed her a pic of actress Shay Mitchell (Emily from Pretty Little Liars) because I love her long layers and Maty cut my hair to the «T» to match Shay’s. My hair looks so much fuller with tons of body and it’s still long in the back like i wanted!
Amazing prices, i got a great cut for $ 20 — i ain’t complaining! ;) Although if you’re into the fancy shmancy Shampoo/​Condition process prior to your cut and full blown styling afterward, this isn’t the place for you. Of course you’ll get a basic blow dry afterwards but if you need to get pampered, I’d choose a different type of place. She provides those services at an extra charge tho of course. I think this can be good or bad. Knowing the option is there is great, not everyone has time for all that! But I do appreciate the beauty and luxury of getting that wonderful scalp massage and the bouncy curls, so that’s when I choose my stylist instead.
Overall, i love this little gem… I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised as well ;)

I would write more but I didn’t get a call back when I called to set up an appointment. Instead I got a good haircut in Hercules. Family Hair Saloon.

Came here to get my hair trimmed and since I always drive past this place going home I decided to give it a try. Maddy, the owner was the one that trimmed my hair and she layered it in the front. I specifically asked for her to trim 2 inches to cut off my dead ends and layer it in the front a little bit and she did it very good. She showed me how much she was going to trim and layer before she did anything. I’m very picky about my hair espeically because at other places when you ask for 2 inches they usually chop off more.
The owner was very nice and sweet while cutting my hair making sure I was okay with the whole process. Prices are not bad at all!
I would definitely be seeing her again to get my hair cuts from now on.

Maddy did my hair for my wedding and I looked so pretty, she is a wonderful person and an excellent hairdresser, I have been coming to her salon since 2006 when she used to have her salon in Hercules, I would follow her wherever she goes. Very friendly and professional, her salon gets busy I suggest you make appointments however she will accommodate walk ins. Prices are very reasonable.

Marty is the best especially for men. She does short hair to perfection. The salon is in a great location, with plenty of street parking. Overall a great atmosphere.

After reading Mary’s review. I decided to check out the Brazilian Blow Out since I am really tired of having to head into S.F. and pay an arm and a leg for one. I got a great deal for my first time $ 250 and I must say that my hair looks fabulous!!! Make sure that you ask for Ryan he did a great job!!! The special on the Blowouts will end on October 31^st, so hurry!!! What a fantastic special!!! And now all I have to do is drive down the street instead of sitting in traffic for hours and also having to pay bridge toll.

Discovered this place while cruising down San Pablo hoping to try a new place to get my haircut at and I am so glad I found this gem.
There is always ample street parking right in front of the salon and once you step foot in, you are quickly greeted by either the receptionist or the hair stylists themselves. The inside of the salon is nothing too fancy but there are two benches and magazines to keep you occupied while you wait. There is also a restroom which is very sanitary and clean, along with the salon itself. I have personally only gotten cut by Maddy, who is the main stylist of the salon. She does a fabulous job on cutting my hair exactly how I want it to be so no need to worry about your hair turning out horrid. I would suggest calling ahead of time to schedule an appointment as she does get very busy, especially in the afternoons. She is VERY friendly and is sure to engage in neverending conversation as she works her wonders on your hair. Her prices are very reasonable, about $ 14 for a haircut and offers an even better deal on hair coloring and highlights. I never go anywhere else for my hair needs!
I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you’re in the area and itching to try a new stylist at a decent price!
