FASCINATING! From the website: «Passing through the door of William Cobb’s home, visitors step back in time to the year 1791. George Washington is President of the United States and has appointed William Blount as Governor of the Southwest Territory. Governor Blount has taken up residence at Rocky Mount to conduct the business affairs of the new territory. The tour experience invites one to become part of the happenings of the year 1791 through the first person interpretation of daily lifestyles, domestic and work skills, food, clothing, furnishings and games.» My husband and I just visited this site, on a whim. It was so interesting, and not at all crowded. They took us through the great room, office, 2 upstairs bedrooms, the dining room, and the kitchen. All of the docents were in costume, and spoke as though they were in that time period. All were very knowledgeable(particularly the gentleman who led the tour through the office and dining room, and the woman who did the tour of the kitchen, and welcomed questions. There is a small museum, a gift shop, and a 15-min or so movie at the beginning of the tour. I will definitely return with my kids when I’m in the area!
