We did find that this cabin was one of the best(we found one even better in the same neighborhood). The price is right, the house is adorable and nice… however, it was the customer service we experienced with Guy that turned us off. *update: the cabin is a bit smaller and right up against a busy street and in front of the main entrance of the community* The first issue came about while trying to negotiate a price. Everyone negotiates these days and it’s always worth a try. So, we gave it a whirl. Instead of politely declining the negotiation and saying his price is final– he recommended that we stay in the ghetto. not even joking. he recommended the ghetto. According to him, his cabin is the best in all of the land and he has 50 other people wanting to stay so if we’re ‘too poor’ to stay at his cabin then we must be fit for the hood. Pardon me, when did being good stewards with your money equal poor? *update: we asked him to take the price down by $ 10/nt. called us poor, then lowered his price online by $ 50/nt.* So, we decided to keep looking. We still couldn’t find anything better so we decided to take the plunge and reserve the cabin even though we thought the people were jerks. All of the other sites gave him 5 star reviews but who knows how that is filtered and how many of those are real. The 2nd issue came up when he told us that we would have to deposit all of the cash into his bank account since pay pal takes 9 days and our reservations were fairly last minute. obviously there are a few hesitations about just handing over large quantities of cash(including the safety deposit) into someone’s bank account without having any kind of guarantee. We understood this is his home and business and just wanted some security before blindly depositing money into his bank account. So we called and wanted to get more information. Again, his response: «if you’re not happy with how I do business I have 50 other people wanting to stay here» Ok, fine. So there’s no guarantee about your money and this guy is awful to talk to or do business with. This isn’t exactly the first person you’d want to hand cash over to seeing as this is how he operates: give me cash, no questions allowed and if you dont like it, shove it. You have to decide how trusting you want to be with this total stranger. You can’t have a conversation because anything you want to ask about or understand is met with a ‘if you don’t like it, well, i’ll get someone else to stay here’ I won’t be doing business with him again, nor will the rest of the family. we were all fairly insulted by this man’s cocky attitude and disrespect. treat your customers a little more politely and with respect. it goes a long way. maybe his business is so hot now, but you treat enough people like crap and it will eventually catch up to you.
