Got the tacos with rice and beans. Rice and beans were authentic Mexican style and excellent. Tacos were also fresh and authentic. The pastor were the best but loved the chicken as well. Service is great and would definitely go back.

We got two orders of enchiladas to go and found at least 6 bones in our food. Some were very jagged and sharp. I can’t even imagine if our daughter swallowed one. I called to let them know and they said sorry. The food used to be great in the past, not sure what happened. Today it was mediocre at best.

I love this authentic joint and they have an extensive menu. This isn’t your typical American Mexican. It’s the real deal and well worth the visit. I ordered the carne asada with cactus and spicy enchiladas. Holy cow it was good. Comes with handmade tortillas. The salsa verde was kick butt HOT! The ambience isn’t much and they only have about six tables. Great service and food. I would return when in the mood for the real deal.

I don’t get why this is a four star place! Their hard shell tacos are made by frying a tortilla.(The second Mexican restaurant that I’ve been to lately that doesn’t have decent shells. What do I have to do, go to Taco Bell? Sheesh!) The result is something way too hard. Then add the chicken that seemed good(flavor saved them from getting one star) until I almost broke a tooth on a chicken bone… NOT good. Hey! How about $ 3 for a 16 oz bottle of Coke? The appearance of this place is underwhelming inside and out. I will NOT be back.

Came here for breakfast after a run with my lady, because nothing says«post-running meal» like mexican food. But, she was in the mood for mexican and I can always go for a breakfast burrito, and this was on our way. No breakfast burrito, but they do have an extensive menu of what looks like authentic mexican food, including lots of breakfast items. However, maybe it was because I was looking for something else, or maybe I’m just a bigger fan of tex-mex(and I don’t think it was either), but I didn’t love what I got. I ordered the Cubana, which is a sandwich with a fried egg, chorizo sausage, regular sausage, breaded steak, mayo, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño, avocado and beans. It was huge. And it was good, but it wasn’t any better than that — just good. Even with everything on it, it was lacking in flavor. It needed salsa or hot sauce or some seasonings, but either I tasted jalapeño, or it was kind of bland, even with everything that was on it(in fairness, I removed the tomato and avocado). My problem, I think, was that I ordered breakfast. It is what I was in the mood for, but I think I would have enjoyed something authentic from the rest of the menu since I do like authentic mexican food, a lot. But, I wanted breakfast and this is where we ended up. Service was fine. Location was small and I can imagine finding seating at busy times of day is impossible. There’s maybe 4 – 6 tables inside, and no outside seating. Prices are great, especially for the amount of food you can get. I advise that you try it, but just not breakfast. Try something else and I think you’ll enjoy it more. As for me, I liked my breakfast — I ate every bite — but it was just okay.

I’m a big fan of both authentic Mexican and Americanized, Tex-Mex food. (There is a BIG difference, right?) EHV puts out some of the very best REAL, authentic Mexican food in our area! Forget dining in! There are maybe 6 tables at most, and they are packed at peak dining hours. No worries, just visit in off-peak hours or consider take-out? The Al Pastor tacos are the best I have ever had! The simple steak-stuffed burrito is the largest I’ve ever seen and is big enough to satisfy two. Their refrieds and rice are also great! You can easily get take-out from here and feed 4 for about $ 20 – 25 or so! Just beware of the hot sauce. When they say hot, they mean HOT !! This is my new local new for real MEX food! Sometimes their posted hours can fluctuate? Just beware: Sometimes they close early if a Mexican or other related global SOCCER-EVENT is on the TV!!! GOAL !!!

I have long been in search of a truly authentic Mexican restaurant in the Tampa Bay Area. After reading some reviews online, I made the drive from downtown St. Pete to this proverbial ‘hole in the wall’ in Pinellas Park. Boy was it worth it! The chips and salsa seemed homemade, and tasted more authentic than the stuff you get at your typical Mexican joint. With only 6 tables, limited décor, and tiny kitchen, it has the feel of a little street corner Bodega. I had three tacos(carne asada) and rice and beans. The food was excellent, and cheap! Can’t wait to go back and try some of their more ‘exotic’ menu options. Highly recommended.

We go to El Huarache Veloz at least once a month. The meal here always makes me wonder why I go to any other Mexican restaurant. The only thing they don’t have is a cheese dip… so sometimes I go to other Mexican restaurants for that cheese dip, but then I am disappointed with the rest of my meal. So — just go here. They have chips and salsa(but it is not on the menu). You get FRESH, homemade chips and homemade salsa. Fair warning — the salsa is hot. But it is great. Their tacos are fantastic — I am a sucker for their carnitas. This time, I had the flautas and my husband had the Enchiladas verdes. Always great. The refried beans are cooked down, well seasoned, and made with bacon — what’s not to love. Reasonable prices — 2 dinners, 2 drinks(they serve NO alcohol), and chips and salsa for under $ 30. It is a humble place(6 tables) but it is good, authentic, homemade food.

Now this is Mexican food. Holy lord. This authentic Mexican eatery is hidden in a strip mall and is so easy to pass without noticing. The restaurant is TINY, but the taste is HUGE. I had a breakfast plate, jeuvos rancheros, that had three tortillas on it. On top of the tortillas were a sunny side up egg and avocado and sauce. It was served with rice and refried beans. This meal was GLORIOUS. I ate it in its entirety which is absurd because this plate was gigantor, but I couldn’t get enough of it. The waitress was nice as well. I will definitely be back!

This place is in a little strip mall. Don’t let the outside fool you, it looks like a little dive, but the food is authentic and awesome. I had the Dorado tacos from the appetizer menu. There was so much food I couldn’t finish. I will definitely be back and we would recommend to everyone.

There are 4 tables. No one speaks English. It’s pretty dirty and almost left, but I wanted Mexican food so we stayed. The food was okay, but I think it was frozen and they just microwaved it and then put it on my plate. It was very inexpensive to eat there. I won’t go back.

Maybe I didn’t get the right meal here, but I wasn’t as blown away as the other reviewers were. I love hole in the wall establishments and this one definitely lives up to that definition. 6 – 7 tables, kitchen, register. No frills – just the way I like it. My fiancé and I started with some horchata. It was very good. Sweet with a little kick at the end. However, my favorite horchata is still Señor Taco’s. As we looked through the menu, we were overwhelmed and confused. There were«Appetizers» on the first page, however, I later found 75−80% of them were meals. It was confusing. I was hoping for actual appetizers like guacamole, but no such luck. They also had empanadas, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas etc., so although there were many selections, it was still confusing to navigate the menu. I ended up with a shrimp quesadilla and my fiancé got the shrimp fajitas. Both came with rice and refried beans. The meal was great – 4 stars. Overall, service was friendly and fast. I just had two bones to pick with this place: 1) Menu is too much. Simplify it and be clear between«entrees» and«appetizers» so I know what to expect with my meal and 2) I’m picky when it comes to meals with no appetizer selection. The good did take quite a while to cook and there were no appetizers to speak of. That would have been nice. I think I would give this place 4 or possibly 5 stars if it made a couple improvements. For now, I may have to stick to Señor Taco.

This place makes some great tacos. @$ 1.50 they are quite a deal. Eveyone else seemed to think so too because the place was full. I had 2 beef and 2 carnitas. All were great. Washed down with a Tamarind Jarritos FTW. Its a humble place, but that never stopped me from eating some great chow.

Most authentic Tacos I’ve found near St Pete. I don’t even want to post this review & risk bringing further attention to this place. Upon arriving and looking up at the business sign I knew I was in for the good stuff«AUTENTIC» [sic] Note that John B. gave this a five star review and he has an insanely long Unilocal list dedicated to hole in the wall taco joints in SoCal(the mecca of Mexican food within the states) — enough said.

Locally owned restaurants are where you’ll find the best food. This place is definitely authentic Mexican. Seeing the 5 star rating and excellent reviews on Unilocal,I had to check it out myself. It’s a very small place with basically no décor other than a few streamers and two tv’s. One in the front and one in the back. My table had one salt shaker on it. All of the tables were full and everyone there was Mexican. That was a good sign that the food was going to be authentic and good. I was the only non-Mexican there. The server was very polite and friendly. I ordered 5 tacos. 2 steak, 2 chicken, and 1 marinated pork. They came on a soft shell with cilantro, onions, lemon(lime is out of season and very expensive right now) and salsa. The salsa had a delicious, different flavor. Kind of «smokey», but I liked it. I’ll definitely be back!

Seen this place on 49th st. many times. Finally stopped for lunch, and I was very glad I did. I had carne asada with guacamole, pico de gallo, cactus, Green onion, rice and beans. Huge platter of food which I devoured. The surprise was the cactus, so tasty! Don’t pass the gem! Ps– take a pic as soon as it arrives cuz one taste and you won’t want too stop eating!

Had a head-meat taco. Possibly the best taco I’ve ever had. Small place, simple, modest looking. I could tell it would be good because 99% of the customers were Mexican, and it was packed!

It’s late. I’m hungry and the sign says they’re open. But when I open the door there’s only one couple inside and all the other chairs are on top of the tables. I sheepishly ask if they’re still serving and the gal nods her head and begins prepping a table for me. She suggests the enchiladas and I suggest that they be filled with al pastor. They are absolutely delicious. The plate is filled with food and I walk out positively stuffed and immensely satisfied.
