I’m a hound dog for cupcakes and specifically attended the Better Block event today so I could sniff out a new sugar dealer. This little shop opened just last month, as far as I’m aware, tucked right off Park Blvd in a converted residence. It was bopping today but I could see it having problems with visibility in the future. Total family business. It looked like the owner had her daughters or just friends helping her out behind the counter, but they were friendly enough, and even scrounged me up a shopping bag when I asked. There’s a glass counter with half a dozen different cupcake flavours for 3.25 apiece(today I spotted mocha(my fave), chocolate, peanut butter, carrot cake, lemon, and another I may be forgetting). The frosting is fluffy whipped cream, tastes like, with strong flavour, and a nice but slightly dry cake. There were also fairly priced cookies, brownies, muffins, whole pies, and a few savoury rolls for sale, as well as candy(ring pops!) on the counter for the kids. I particularly liked the pumpkin spice cookies. I possibly bought four of them and ate them without pity on my walk home, although there are a few tables and chair set up and it’s a nice, new, clean space inside. All in all a good effort! It doesn’t have the location factor of The Cupcake Spot, the price point of Keyscakes, or the chic décor of Cake Affection, but there may be a place for it. Good luck, Complete Sweet Shoppe!
