Reservations are a MUST! I called two days ahead and made early reservations for four people for my parents’ 54th anniversary. The owner greeted us at the door and waited on us for the entire meal, turning away all day-of reservations. It was a very special dinner, and we really appreciated the personal touch and exceptional food. We started with escargot and some Italian wine. Mind you, my father does not drink alcohol at all… ever,…but he had TWO glasses of the wine. The side salads and dinner bread were so good! And then we had Lamb for our dinner, and it was so tender and delicious. The best ever! Thank you, Dagher, for a memorable meal!

As my elderly father made his way into the restaurant in his wheelchair, with our family group of 10, the host issues him this greeting: «Oh, Jesus Christ!» We had a reservation, for which we were on time. But apparently he’s never seen an elderly man before. We were led through a front dining room with an empty table for 10(why wasn’t this spot offered?), through a small bar and through the main dining room before arriving at our designated table, which my dad maneuvered as best he could. We were left on our own to move chairs and get him where they told us to go. Next, the house was out of 3 of the 5 wines ordered, 2 of 3 beers, 2 of 3 sparkling waters and several liquors. Um, that’s not reasonable. We got baskets of hot from the oven rolls(frozen dough) which were fine but came with frozen pats of butter. That’s just lazy. Apparently whatever the owner tells you to order is all you can really count on being available. The proteins were fine — trout, beef, pork — but the sides and sauces were dismal. Frozen 5-way mixed with frozen green beans and reconstituted sauces. Eek! No one could tell us anything about the sourcing of our $ 25 – 38 meat items. Again, lazy. The desserts, much hyped, were middle quality frozen factory-made and, again, served very cold. This place is an experience best left to locals, with whom the staff have relationships, and those people rave endlessly about how great everything is here. We weren’t treated very well for our $ 750 check in a dining room where 6 other people were eating. And that greeting on the way in? Inexcusable. Not that any apology was offered.

My husband and I came to Calloway Gardens for a weekend getaway. Well… let me be the first to tell you that that Pine Mountain is NOT a hot bed of activity during this Season. Most restaurants are closed on Sunday and those that ARE open close early. I jumped on Unilocal to see what my options were and came across Horse and Carriage. Now, I’m a bit of a hotel and restaurant snob so I thoroughly read reviews from all the various websites before I make any decisions. So, after reading the reviews, I made reservations. After driving down a long dark road we pulled into a beautiful old farmhouse. The owner, Dagher, greeted and sat us. He also served and cooked our meal! I wanted mussels, which weren’t on the menu, and he made mussels(which were probably some of the best I’ve had). He was so wonderfully accommodating and the food was absolutely outstanding. The salad dressings were home made and delicious. The lobster tails were perfectly prepared and we ended the meal with a creamy cheesecake. The dining experience was so pleasant that the other couples near us actually made reservations on the spot for the following night! We will definitely be back!

This is truly a surprise! A great restaurant tucked off the main drag on a country lane. Trust the owners suggestions for both wine and food. We had the trout and lamb shank. Both excellent.

The service is unbelievable, we had a wonderful time. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere perfect, and the food is delicious. But none of these compare to the personality of the owner. He makes you feel special and the world is a better place because of him. If we travel again is this area, this is the one place I would not miss. Even without a reservation he opened the doors to us and we are so grateful because I can not imagine a better place to eat.

Took my wife to callaway gardens for our first anniversary. We originally had planned to eat at the gardens but while in town we heard about this place and how they go out of their way to serve you. We were lucky enough to get a reservation(make sure you get a reservation) and it was one of the best dining experiences. It completely made our anniversary. Everything was 5 star! I recomend this to everyone!!!

Based on all of the fantastic Unilocal reviews, we decided we had to try Carriage & Horses– we were not disappointed at all. Great place, great food and great Owner, Daghar! We were only staying two nights in Pine Mountain and we went to C&H both nights. We enjoyed the filet and lamb shank and on the second night the wife called to make our reservation — a must– and she spoke to Daghar. She asked if there were any chicken specials — none on the menu– and Daghar said he would make one special for her! Now that is service. The other great memory was the wine selection. Daghar opened about 6 bottles on our first visit and he let us try each one until we settled in on a Nero D’Avilo 2012 for only $ 10! If you do go to C&H make sure you engage Daghar. He is a gracious and entertaining host!

Yum! Carriage and Horses is tucked away in them thar hills of Pine Mountain, Georgia. Who would have thought such delicious gourmet food would be found Here? We dined with a group of about 15 couples so our dinner choices were limited to chicken, salmon and pork chops. The salmon could have rivaled any salmon at any high end restaurant in any large city! Included were potatoes, itty bitty green beans, and carrots. I wanted to return for their Sunday Brunch but it just didn’t fit into our schedule. Guess we will have to make another trip to Pine Mountain!

Last night we had a very special dinner at the Carriage and Horses. My wife had a wonderful salmon and I had the best pork shank I have ever been served. The sauce for each was perfect. We were so surprised that out here in the woods is such an excellent restaurant. The owner Dager treated us to a glass of Port after steering us through the day’s choices. I would suggest you listen carefully and enjoy.

Great relaxed atmosphere, the food is always good as is the service. I’ve eaten here literally a hundred or so times since Dagher first opened, and I’ve never been disappointed. Great place for a special event, too. Call ahead for reservations and enjoy.

Dagher is such a wonderful host. He made wonderful wine recommendation and gave us free appetizer(cocktail shrimp, smoke salmon, etc) The food is as good as any fancy steak house. We ordered filet migeon, lobster tail, lamb shank and salmon steak. All was very good. Oh, did I say there is live music. The meal made our day!

Great atmosphere and excellent service but food was only so-so. I had duck and my wife had ribeye. Duck was tender but bland, sides were good but nothing beyond what you’d get at your local diner. Ribeye was done right but not a good cut, a bit tough and thin. Reviews about Dagher are right on. He’s a character! But also a very sweet man and very pleasant. We went on a Thursday when business was slow. He came and sat at the table, had a great chat. He did some little things for us that were very kind. Overall we very much enjoyed ourselves. It was a memorable night.

This was quite an experience! FABULOUSFOOD but don’t DARE show up without reservations!!! On a weekend jaunt and after hiking in the State Park for several hours, we were starving. So we decided on fine dining. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, but dated. The linen table cloths and stemware are accented by dropped ceiling tiles. It’s an old, gorgeous home that could use a renovation, but it has a certain charm. When we walked in, we were one of 4 tables being served out of a huge house! They asked if we had reservations. We did not. So the hostess said she’d have to see if «Dagher», the proprietor, would serve us. He graciously allowed us to be be seated. However, he came by and chided us harshly and mentioned that«no one knows how to make reservations anymore! Mashed Potatoes do not grow on trees!!!» I haven’t had my wrist slapped so harshly in years! lol It’s a horse farm house in the country. I had no idea! He informed me he is 5 stars. I didn’t find him on Michelin or Fodors. It was 4STARS on Unilocal. However, I admit the food was spectacular!!! We shared Grape Leaves for an appetizer and they were as good as any I’ve ever had. I had steak and lobster and it was exceptional and perfectly prepared. ! My dinner companion had prime rib and raved! Once he warmed up, at my request. he chose an amazing Pinot Noir to complement my meal and even offered us a gift of raw oysters, which were succulent and shockingly delicious. .. unexpected for middle Georgia!!! What an extraordinary experience!!! I highly recommend this restaurant, but beware if you are offended easily and don’t have reservations. Dagher(pronounced like Dagger) will eat you alive!!! However, i suggest you hang around. The food is worth it !!!

First the gps address takes you to Butts Farm, which is about 2 miles further away from Pine Mountain. We found this place on Unilocal so we thought we’d give it a try. Its an old farm house with a horse farm behind it that has been added onto 2 – 3 times to increase the size of the dining room. We both had steak, both steaks were grocery store quality, slightly tough for rib eye’s, and lacked any spice. Steamed vegtables were ok. Service was fair, we showed up on time and the waitress had to finish a reservation before she seated us. It appears this place make its money off average food and service and serving wine. They have 3 – 4 tables full of different wines they serve for 7 – 8 dollers a glass. We were dissapointed in our visit, not sure we’d go back.

I dine at Carriage & Horses restaurant every time I’m in Pine Mountain. I’ve even driven from Atlanta several times just to eat here. The food is excellent. I’ve tried many menu items and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the filet mignon, lamb shank, salmon, and greek salad. The ambience is beautiful and classy, but not ostentatious. The owner, Dagher, makes a point of greeting the customers and makes everyone feel like they are part of the family. It’s well worth the drive to dine at Carriage & Horses. You won’t just be having dinner. You’ll have a wonderful dining experience.
