Great food! The service was not good. The waitress didn’t check on us during our entire meal. She was rude when we asked questions about the food. Be ready for bad service!

I’m a big fan of this place and I’ll miss it when I move away from Pine Bush. It’s great knowing that I can eat anything on the menu and in my opinion, it’s all delicious. I try to get something different each time I go in and my son can’t wait to visit from college so we can do dinner at Pure City. I think it’s very reasonably priced and the dishes are very artful with healthy portions. Also, it has a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody.

Wow! Looked up recommended vegan restaurants — in the world — on Happy Cow for my wife and found that this place was rated well on their list and it was relatively close by. I am sure you could imagine, it is difficult to find good options for vegan food. I told her we would take a night where the two of us could go and enjoy without the kids. I am a meat eater but am open to any good food. I must say, most of the stuff she gets from the supermarket is not all that great and I usually pass up whatever she offers me. My kids on the other hand are not as open to even trying vegan food. Well, my son had a wrestling match in Pine Bush last night and my wife suggested we go here for dinner. I thought it might be a problem for the finicky kids but also figured if they really didn’t like it, we could hit a McDonalds on the way home and they would be fine. Based on other reviews and feedback, I was looking forward to the menu and I told my wife, if it looks or sounds good, lets order extra to take home. It seems quite a few people do this. So we ordered the combo appetizer plate, some fried wontons, crispy mushrooms — Excellent! Again the plan was to order extra to take home. Well, we finished the apps and nothing to take home. The kids loved it! I had the Spicy Eggplant Casserole which came out in a sizzling bowl — it was absolutely delicious. My wife and the kids did not finish — only because they were full. The leftovers that we took home, never made it to the refrigerator though as they had consumed everything before 10pm. So much for having leftovers to enjoy! My wife said she was temped to drive back up there to order today(it is about 45 minutes away). We are looking forward to our next visit!

Today was the second time I’ve been to Pure City, there appetizers and entrees were just as amazing as the first time! I wish the restaurant wasn’t so far from our house! We’d eat here regularly!

Wow! You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this food. I was hesitant to try this place out because I love my meat but I’m sure glad I did! My husband and I each had drinks, appetizers, our meals and desert and everything came out to less than $ 60 including a 20% tip. I will be coming back more often.

Delicious food, reasonable prices. Even if you are not vegetarian, you will enjoy eating here. It is tiny and gets very, very crowded because it is so popular. They don’t(or didn’t) take reservations, so you’d better have a plan B.

This place was really good. I still love meat but the substitutes were good and seasoned well. Very large portions. Their tea’s are very good too! I would def. recommend coming here and giving it a try.

Nice idea but all tofu, fried, heavy and dated concept of health. Lovely people, I hope they re-consider the idea of a healthy restaurant because pine bush needs it!

8÷8÷12 I loved their General Tso’s Veggie Nuggets & Sesame Nuggets. Delicious! I was so very happy to discover a Chinese Vegetarian restaurant upstate NY. I’ll be back again. My only complaint is that I wish they had a proper hot sauce, as the one they have isn’t spicy. I love Chinese chili sauce! I look forward to trying more of their dishes. Yummy!!!

I never expect much from vegetarian restaurants, but Pure City proved me wrong. The food came quick and flavorful, and left me & bf full at the end of the meal. Especially liked the eggplant and general tso’s nuggets(kind of tasted meaty, but if you took the time to savor… could feel the odd texture), appetizer platter was abundant & decent. Points deducted for some food tasting dry

I have never craved anything like I continuously crave Pure City’s Eggplant in Brown Sauce. It doesn’t matter if I had it yesterday, a week ago, a month ago… it always sounds good. I’m also a huge fan of their veggie nuggets, whether they’re orange flavored or General Tso’s. Lastly, their vegetable soup is the comfort food of all comfort foods. Just an all around amazing place run by a really nice, hard working family. We’re so lucky to have it in the PB area.

I was finally able to return to Pure City for the first time in several years after having an enjoyable dinner there with friends a few years ago. This time I was here for lunch. Since it was a hot day, I appreciated that many of the teas available could be ordered iced. The plum ice tea was sweetened like a plum sauce. The ginger ice tea had a very strong and pure ginger flavor, and I wonder if they actually steeped minced ginger. It’s tricky to make a good hot-and-sour soup without meat in the soup or in the broth; theirs is pretty good considering. Both the soup, and my entrée had chunks of firm tofu as well as vegetables. The lunch special portions are reasonable, and I like that you get brown rice instead of white rice. The vegetables are fresh and crisp, though everybody at my table agreed slightly more flavorful sauces would be even better. I wish it weren’t so far out of my way; I’d return for dinner more often.

Ate dinner here a few days ago with my wife and a couple of friends. I am pretty much a carnivore but I agreed to give PC a try and figured at least I could bail and grab the vegetable fried rice and that is exactly what I did. Not being a vegetarian the pseudo-meat dishes were non-starters for me so it was going to be something simple that I would go with and that was the vegetable fried rice and vegetable wonton soup. The soup was okay, nothing special and the wontons were filled with something fake-meat-paste-ish that, while not bad, wasn’t what I expected and kind of put me off. Next up was the veg fried rice. I thought that would be fairly straight-forward and it wasn’t bad, but there was something that just didn’t taste right. I am sure it was the type of rice they use or something like that. All I know is that for me, it was a bust. The others in the group had mixed results, some loved, some were«meh». I am sure if you are a vegetarian this place rocks, it always gets good reviews based on the vegetarian angle, but from my point of view it left quite a bit to be desired. I doubt I will be back.

I would not have expected to find such a vegetarian/vegan friendly Asian restaurant in the middle of Pine Bush. Luckily Unilocal had Pure City listed and since we were in that neck of the woods, we went right on over. The rather plain and humdrum exterior hides a little magical world within. The walls are decorated with Chinese proverbs, decorations and pictures. The tables are a nice dark wood which gives the small space, perhaps about 12 tables, a warm cosy feeling as if one needs to speak in hushed tones. I ordered a hot Date Tea. I had never had one before and it was unusual and sweet and tasty with chewy little dates dancing it in. The L. got their green tea which was presented in a self-steeping covered tea cup. The green tea was very fragrant and fresh. But the food. Heavenly. The Lady proprietress was there and helped us choose our lunch. We started with steamed dumplings and Thai Basil rolls which were clearly made to order. They were delicious, light and full of flavor. There were just too few dumplings. Their presentation was also very old school which was great. For my main I had their lunch sized Tofu Szechuan Style which came with a choice of Hot & Sour Soup or Miso Soup and a generous mound of steamed brown rice. Of course I got the H&S soup as usually I do not order it elsewhere since it tends to have pork in it. Pure City’s version was so good so hot and yet so sour! It was great. I could eat a Homer bucket of it, LOL! My main was spicy with little emeralds(edamame) sprinkled within it as well as rubies(diced red bell pepper). It was the perfect amount as was very filling in a good way. The L. had General Tso Veggie Nuggets and the mock meat was such a convincing«stand in» for the chicken one who may not not eat vegetarian cuisine regularly may have second thoughts. All their mock«meats» are made on premises and are a far cry from the ones found at your local supermarket. For dessert we shared a chocolate tofu«cheesecake» with raspberry sauce. I am usually not a fan of tofu cheesecakes, this one was pretty good. Creamy, dreamy and chocolatey. While this was our first time to Pure City it won’t be our last. Great vegetarian food can be hard to come by in our area and now that we found a restaurant that has a menu from which we can choose everything we will just have to make our way through it! Not fancy, but funky and delicious and well priced. Happiness on a plate.
