Not too many Unilocalers venture up to this neck of the woods, except passing through on their way to Clark’s in Tioga. Pilot Point is but a bump in the road. So any restaurants or stops along the way, besides grabbing some gas for the car, are just a blur in the rear view. This little hole in the wall, was actually another place, but I guess new people took it over and started to make some good home cooked Mexican food. It’s in a nondescript strip mall that really boasts nothing in peticular, and their sign is just a vinyl banner up above the door. The place itself is maybe 20ft wide by 250ft deep. It’s small. Five tables go straight back for seating and the whole length of the right side is take up by the small kitchen/pantry area. Jarritos, Jumex and Sangria sodas cooling off with some Coca-Cola products in a visible cooler and a TV tuned to the History Channel. As for the menu? Really small, but I’m sure it’s good. Daily you can get tacos, quesadillas, tortas, burritos and gorditas. Plus tamales by special order. There’s also daily specials. M-Chicken Flautas, Tu-Green Enchiladas, W-Tostadas, Th-Red Enchiladas, F-Carnitas, S/Su-Menudo Meat choices are pastor, chorizo, beef and chicken fajita, and chicken. I tried a torta, and was very happy with the choice. Pastor(pork) had a good flavor, not overpowering and mixed well with everything on the sandwich. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickled jalapenos, avocado and mayo. The bread was great and what was nice was that it was two small tortas, not one huge one all for $ 6.50. Not too bad. I want to go back and try some more. Hopefully I will soon. Venture up to North North Texas and keep searching out those small out of the way places. Enjoy.
