Really cool coffeehouse in Pilot Mountain. They apparently have sandwiches as well as coffee and wine during the day and open-mic nights, bands, and other entertainment some nights. There is a piano, so I suspect it gets played some, too. They also carry a variety of sweets, specifically lemon, fudge, and peanut butter bars that are small but really good. And the ladies who were working there when I stopped by were super-sweet, too. Worth a stop if in the area for sure.

We stopped in after hiking in Pilot Mountain State Park. According to Unilocal,it was the best vegetarian/vegan option in the next 30 miles. It was just before 1pm on a Saturday, and we walked into an empty space, but a comfortable one: the walls were covered in artwork; there was craft beer to purchase or a hat from the nearby high school. I ordered the hummus wrap(minus capers — sorry capers!) and my partner ordered the Portobello cheeseburger. I asked for an iced coffee as well, which was the best surprise of the order. It was refreshing and quite flavorful. Our sandwiches came out after about 10 minutes, freshly made and chock full. My wrap included local tomatoes, homemade roasted garlic hummus(VERY garlic-forward), green olives, lettuce, cucumbers, and mushrooms. The Portobello was enormous and included a dill pickle ranch dressing drizzled on top. Each of our meals came with a side of chips. For about $ 25, it was a filling meal and satisfying. Looks like the Living Room offers live music, and it had GREAT beer on draft(all North Carolina too). If we were in the area at night, we would most certainly return.

Great local dive! Nikki is a local celebrity and makes the best pickled anything! You feel right at home at TLR, been coming here for years. Great wine, food and beer!

I’m giving this coffee shop and extra star because I applaud its effort to make locally grown and brewed products available to a small community like Pilot Mountain, but outside of that I was very disappointed with my visit. First, I got a medium iced coffee and a sandwich and my total was $ 17. I understand paying more for local products and supporting small businesses, but that is bizarre, especially for lunch. Second, the woman running the shop was incredibly rude. She greeted me a blank stare and flat«welcome to the living room» before allowing her training employee to take my order. The new employee, by the way, was incredibly nice and was the only reason I didn’t leave. The entire time the employee was asking questions about how to use a machine or work the register the owner gave her condescending stares and comments back. I was appalled at her actions and shocked that the poor girl still wanted to work there. I am an avid supporter of local roasters and small-town coffee shops, but I would choose McDonalds iced coffee over this place because I feel it would give me a more pleasant visit.

My family came here while in NC for my sisters wedding and staying at A Might Oak Bed & Breakfast in nearby Pinnacle. I can’t tell you what a gem this place was. We came two days in a row and since there were 10 of us, basically sampled everything on the menu. The inside is cute and charming and the menu is healthy and inspired. The second day they were actually closed, but the awesome chef(I can’t believe I can’t remember her name!) came in just to prepare our order to go! It was so nice to find a place so happy and passionate to be cooking for its customers. We appreciated everything about it, and it definitely added to our wonderful trip!

I have had nothing bad there. Everything fresh and hot. The different coffees were great. Love that they have sugar free products as well. Live music most weekends. On Friday nights open mic. Love their smoothies. Try to go there at least once the week if I can.

This place has everything that I love. TLR has craft beer, local wine, farm to table food, local produce, fare trade/organic coffee, and kambucha. This is the kind of place that you would find in large city but it somehow ended up in quant little Pilot Mountain. Loved the service and the beer selection. I will stop by here any time that I am close by. I also like that there is a wellness center connected in the back with yoga classes and massage offered.

Seriously the most bizarre coffee shop. It’s also a bar, they try to get fresh produce, some organic, from local places, they’re a restaurant, they’ll have live music tonight, and in the back, the comfortable room with couches, on a Saturday at noon, they’re about to have a «Jewelry party.» They warn me so I have to sit on the hard surfaces of their dining area. They’re all running around like chickens with their heads cut off and they only have one order: two parents parents, their child… and me. I overhear her reminding them of stuff they forgot. And they took a «tab» for my order of coffee and a fritter, of which they did not know between the two of them if they give free refills. They didn’t have coffee ready. It’s just… insane. By the way, the«fritter» was basically a funnel cake smothering in icing served in a plastic salad bowl. Nice. I took 3 bites and felt my stomach turn. The coffee, served in what appear to be Waffle House mugs, was okay. Translation: they do a ton of things really poorly and I won’t be going back.

If you are going to call yourself a coffeehouse, your coffee should be special. It’s not. Leaving the coffee in a thermal container all day is more akin to something done at Jiffy Lube… and unortunately the coffee tastes worse than what i’ve had while waiting for an oil change.

Who would have known that such an unassuming place would have an amazing vegetarian selection for lunch! Great space, wonderful service and local sourced goods resulted in 5 stars… plus they have some credible local beers on tap. Had a veggie Reuban made with monster portobello mushroom and side of fresh sliced cucumbers that was served with their homemade ‘ranch’ dressing… tons of fresh flavor and herbs. Good thing I don’t live close by but will definitely be back on my next visit!
