Mount Pilot’s claim to fame was being mentioned on the Andy Griffith Show many times. Unfortunately this will always be the case. It should be the golf here. Pilot Knob Park was built in the sixties and has hosted a few stops on some of the mini tours. Originally a private club it has become semi private during the week and is worth the few extra dollars to play. I played here most weekends during college and would put it up against any course within a hundred miles. Pilot is a relatively short course even from the tips. Just a couple of tough holes but shotmaking skills are at a premium. Many of the fairways are bent so a straight drive isnt necessarily a good drive. Conditions are always perfect!!! It can be crowded on the weekends however and during the week you can get behind gangsomes that are too occupied in their side bets to let you play through. There are several ponds on the course that have been stocked for years and if you ask politely you are allowed to cast a line if the course isnt too packed.
