Adventures In Writing Camp – Piedmont

This writing camp was SOO good in so many ways. It really took into consideration its campers — kids! Each camper was sent a book before camp to read… a very exciting and fun story which taught while entertained. The use of different creative colorful fonts in the story reminds me of the popular Geronimo Stilton series that kids LOVE. It makes the words on the pages alive and draws in the reader. The book came with a CD that taught songs about writing… and as most people know, information is retained longer when its taught in a form of a song. Each song not only sounded professional but was really modern and fun. When I had play dates, my daughter’s choice of music was this CD! All the kids knew the songs by the end of the play date! I was also very impressed that the camp hired college students with interests in teaching or had writing-​related majors like English for helpers and a REAL INSTRUCTOR lead the camp! I was so impressed by that. Many other camps hire high school grads or college students to lead the camps, and it’s definitely not the same.
My daughter loved her 2 weeks at Adventures in Writing Camp, and I love that she enjoyed it and learned so much! She is excited to write in her diary every day now, and I can’t wait to see how her writing will develop in 3^rd grade after having gone to this camp! Thank you Adventures in Writing Camp for creating a camp that shows how fun writing can be!
