This place is hidden away. The best Torta Hogada in town. It’s just the right size it has beans spread on a salted French roll topped with Carnitas and picked onion. You can enjoy it with an ice cold Modelo. You

This place is OK. I mean, they have some pretty bomb horchata, but that’s about it. My husband likes to come here, i really don’t see the big deal. The have really good service, the food is kinda gross. I am a huge fan of beans, and their beans taste like straight bacon. My grandma said they probably cook it with pigs feet. Yuck. I know that’s a thing but they over do it with that, because all you taste is BACON. Really clean restaurant though. I am curious to see what their menudo tastes like… but I am too used to veracruz down the street… yum.

The food is great! Torta ahogada with the hot Sauce on the side is the best way to have it or you won’t be able to eat it. Our Server Vero was very nice and quick. See you soon! Thank you Vero

Food is flavorful, service was quick, and the music wasn’t bad either! Care en Su jugo was great, didn’t need any Chile or salt! Pozole was on point, and the hand made corn tortillas took it over the top!

I was in search of Carne en su jugo. Found this place through Google and so I had to go try it. I was impressed with my order, it was delicious and it filled me up. We also ordered a torta that was very tasty. Food is very authentic and service was good.

Wanted to try some torta ahogadas from this place and nope, nope, nope. Never again. I really try to be positive, but the food at this place, aside from the horchata I drank, was not great. The service was awesome but the food! Yikes! I ordered a michelada and take a sip and whoa! It was like sucking on a lemon. It was so bitter and couldn’t taste anything else. A thumbs down for the michelada. so here comes my torta ahogada and the hot sauce on the side is good but the bread was not the type of bread usually used for these types of tortas and the meat didn’t smell right, something was off. was it the big chunks they were cut into or wait, it that I found long strand of HAIR in my food ugggg!!! Never again.

Second time here and once again delicious I love the torta ahogada with the spicy sauce on the side cuz if I had that all over my torta I would probably die it’s that spicy. Had an agua de tamarindo light and refreshing overall this place is small yet the service and food are the best good job minerva!

The menu is very Guadalajara authentic food. Pretty good, not exactly phenomenal. The ambience is nice, soccer games on tv, micheladas from scratch. Nice place to come and hangout with the fam or friends. Price is average.

I’ve heard a lot about this place through the radio and what not. I wanted to try their tortas ahogadas and it I wasn’t disappointed. I read through other reviews to get get the salsa on the side because its very spicy. I took the advice and I’m so glad I did because its delicious but yes, its spicy. Hubby got the carne en su jugo and he also enjoyed it. We came with fiends and apparently they liked their food as well. I be retuning to try other stuff on their menu. Service was okay. We got there at around 12:30 and was full by the time we left.

My family and my husband are from Guadalajara and i lived there for 8 years. I went to this restaruant because someone recommended it to me. Ive been looking for authentic tortas ahogadas like the ones back home for years now with no luck so i decided to try this one place. i was very excited to see the menu and everything they had i hadnt seen since i lived in GDL. I tried the tortas and was very disappointed. The bread was not birote salado it was birote tostado the sauce was very watery and transparent they didnt give me any limones but i noticed that the sauce tasted like limones… i see a lot of people here loooved the tortas ahogadas and its obvious they have never been to GDL and tried the tortas close to la estacion de españa del tren ligero or las famosas even… my search continues… 3 stars for effort.

I decided to try this place out because of their tortas ahogadas… the torta ahogada I got was nothing to rave about. The ahogada chile was spice but was lacking in flavor and the Carne in the torta was dry. Not impressed a bit. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because of the service. I was seated right away and the waitress was very nice. If you are looking for a good torta ahogada the best one I’ve had(in the US) is tortas ahogadas ameca in East LA.

Not happy with this establishment. It’s overhyped, with its food. The only thing I liked was«aguas frescas». It took over 10 minutes to be acknowledged that we were there and another 5 to get a table. Not pleased with the service. Honestly I think they forgot about our order. At least it felt like that, because it took too long to get our food. The waitress even noticed that we were without our food for that long. Didn’t like the food at the end. The flavors were too plain. Not a good experience.

My hubs wanted to eat some tortas ahogadas so I brought him to La Minerva because my cousin had brought me here a while ago swearing that they had some of the best tortas ahogadas around. I remember that they were pretty good but I am not really a torta expert like my hubs so I suggested he try La Minerva. He had the torta ahogada with 50% chile and regretted it not because he did not like-he did– but because his mouth was on fire. He was tearing and buggers were coming out of his nose. I couldn’t help but laugh at him. But he really did like the taste of it and said he would come back to bring his family. But next time he would order the chile aparte-on the side.

La comida deliciosa, pero esperar 22 minutos para tomar una orden es demasiado … Deberían mejorar el servicio … Y las meseras tomar las órdenes más rápido o mínimo ofrecer bebidas para no ahogarse con los chips …

I tried the«Carne en su Jugo» which is basically thinly cut steak with«frijoles de la hoya» cilantro, onions and sprinkled with bacon bits. It was actually quite tasty and the side of freshly made corn tortillas topped off my meal. The only problem was it is way over priced(appx $ 14) for an average portion. We also tried the«torta ahogada» which is another specialty of the house — the medium hot was simply to HOT to eat. And to think they have two more levels of heat for this little sandwich! I suggest you try mild if burning the taste buds off your tongue is NOT your thing. Loved the horchata — downside? pretty pricey for a «no refill» drink! The waitresses were nice, however, took them to long to come back to our table to check on us. Looking forward to trying the pozole next!

In my opinion, this is authentic mexican food Guadalajara/Jalisco style. Hand made tortillas, quesadillas, sopes, tortas ahogadas and their specialty; carne en su jugo. Hands down, best in L.A.

We had Tortas Ahogadas, tacos volteados, tacos dorados, and pozole. The tortas ahogadas was delicious and spicy. The tacos were flavorful, unique, and fresh. The pozole was great, very comforting. Service was great! The servers were very kind, friendly, and patient. We will definitely be back!

Originally came with some co-workers and was waiting for an opportunity to come back. Nice little restaurant with your typical colorful Mexican décor. They have music playing and have a couple of televisions, although today they were off. Giving them 3 star because of the time we had to wait to get a drink, about 15 minutes. Although when I finally placed my order and received my horchata it was really good, not too too sweet, just the way I like it, The food was really good and tasty, but since I forgot to mention to them not to put salsa and the salsa was really spicey. Do try the tacos volteados. They are really delicious and full of flavor and the handmade corn tortillas are really good. The chorizo taco was also really good. And finally a must have for me was the cheese quesadilla which was not bad at all, but I have had better. Will probably come back again because the good did have a lot of flavor but this time I won’t forget to tell them to hold the salsa.

This is the busiest I’ve ever seen this place, I’ve been coming here for about a year and this a first! This place must be getting more popular and that’s no surprise to me, the food is delicious
