That chicken sandwich. Damn! Really great food and dessert. The French Macaroons are awesome and try some of the other cookies and assorted goods as well. I just shave a star off for price as it is a bit too much. Otherwise, cozy and efficient little shop and definitely worth a visit if you are on the go. Not too much seating.

The coffee is o die for and so is the food there. very unique pastries and definitely one of my favorite places in town. I just wish it was a little bit bigger and open longer hours, but otherwise its a great place to go to.

Nice little café/bakery. Tasty pastries that are not too sweet, and very good coffee.

It’s a small shop with a small menu, but this is hands down my favorite place to eat in downtown Phoenixville.

Great spot to drop into when I am in town and want terrific salads or sandwiches. The pastries are not to be missed. The fresh quiche of the day are one of my favorites. They know how to make pastry dough. It is a small place but the staff are always friendly and have a great chatty style that makes it fun to go there.

Solid solid. Pretty great coffee here and then theres also sandwiches which are fresh off the press. Shout outs to Chicken Curry! Would do it again anytime if I were in the area.

Have had breakfast, lunch and sweets here over the past 2 years. If you know anything about food, you just realize that you are getting great quality product in a cool, little setting. Be prepared to talk with other people who are sitting down if you get a spot. Love.

My favorite lunch spot in Phoenixville for sure! Every time I go in I have the hardest time deciding which delicious sandwich I’m going to order that day. The grilled veggie sandwich, curry chicken salad and grilled cheese with bacon and spinach are my staples. The bacon is always cooked to perfection. Oh, and if you’re looking for something sweet, I highly recommend the vegan chocolate chip cookies.

This is a really nice and cozy café and their food and coffee is awesome. So why am I only giving it 3 stars? Here’s what needs improvement: — They need to get an espresso machine and start serving espresso based drinks — Their staff needs to be a little better trained. There are too many excuses made for not having this or that. Or «I’m all alone back here so I can’t …» Customers don’t really want to hear all that, they’re just looking for good solid service. — They need more space for seating, the place is very narrow — They need wifi… seriously, in this day and age… Fix these things and you’ll have 5 star place that people will come to from all around.

The owl cookie was amazing — definitely something worth coming back for. I would have bought a sandwich but the place was pretty tiny so I figured I’d try it next time when there was room. Previous reviews mentioning poor service are pretty on target, unfortunately.

I think success has been the Wooden Spoon’s biggest downfall. On more than one occasion(the most recent one being last week), I have thought that I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. Went in there last week, around lunch time to get some delicious food(b/c it really is delicious!). I’m sure you know, this place has a somewhat limited menu – about 6 to 8 sandwiches, 2 to 3 salads and a mixture of sweet stuff. Every so often, a night time dinner special is available. So, on this day, a friend and I decided to pop in for some lunch. I went to order an item off the menu and was met with a blank stare by the increasingly unhelpful staff and then told, «oh, that won’t be ready until this afternoon.» I decided to go for option 2, and was given another flaky answer, «yeah, um, that’s not ready yet either.» It’s 12-freaking-thirty on a weekday and the place has been open since 9am. Does no one in that back kitchen know how to do prep? If you know downtown Phoenixville on a weekday, you know this place wasn’t bum rushed by rabid lunch-goers just minutes before our arrival. It can be pretty quiet. My friend and I decided to go elsewhere and spent our cash at another local establishment. It’s going to be awhile before I attempt to return for a visit. And yes, I mean attempt, b/c if they are out of as many menu items like this most recent time, I don’t know how they could possibly stay in business.

All I have to say is what the heck is going on here??? Am I on a hidden camera show or something??? That is what I was thinking as I stood in this«Café and Bakery.» It took at least 5 minutes before anyone realized I was there even though they were right behind the counter and I said excuse me to try to get their attention. The three teenagers working the counter were unprofessional, to say the least. One of them even loudly dropped the F-bomb about three times while I was there! There were some adults in the back room that seemed totally oblivious to the teenagers in the front and what they were doing. The sandwich I ordered ended up being plain turkey since they were out of everything else that was supposd to go on it, i.e. bacon, avocado, etc. I was charged the full price though. Once I got home, five minutes later, I found that the bread was completely soggy from the tomato being placed directly on it rather than putting the lettuce between the bread and tomato. It was a mushy mess. Ugh, I will not be returning to this place.

I hate to do it, but I have to knock a star off of my original review. On subsequent visits, I have found that sandwich sizes vary significantly depending on the day and the type(s) of bread available. While I found my first chicken salad sandwich to be bountiful, the egg salad sandwich(on a dense multigrain) that I ordered on my next visit almost looked like they forgot to put half of my sandwich in the to-go box. It was still delicious, though, as everything has been that I have tried at Wooden Spoon. Another reason I’m subtracting a star is that every time I go in there, I find myself wishing for a little more warmth from the staff(and I don’t just mean the teenagers working the register). A smile and a «hi, how are you?» go a long way in my book and would be more in keeping with the warm, homey atmosphere of the café. Still my favorite lunch spot in Phoenixville.

Wonderful! Our first time there today after many raves around town. I am having them cater an event and can’t wait to make this my new lunch spot! Everything was fresh and delicious. Perfect touches all around, so glad they are in town!

Update: If you see only kid/teens working the place, turn around and leave. I went back for the same meal and got a very mediocre sandwich with some extra lettuce & tomato, instead of the usual fresh fruit on the side. The oldest of the three working there(I think she was about 16?) just stared open-mouthed while the young boy did the work. I will happily return but won’t patronize if I see adults missing behind the counter.

Great sandwiches and baked goods. The breakfast sandwich had light & fluffy scrambled organic eggs, bacon, and cheese on baguette. I loved it. My kids love the BLTB sandwich. Best cup of coffee in Pville. Try it with a shark bar!

Nice little café and neat design, Love the communal table and shelves. The quiche was pretty good with a very buttery, flaky crust. Curried chicken salad was OK, a touch too dry. The best part was the macaroons I grabbed as a late afternoon snack. One start withheld because of the limited seating and noise level when the place gets full.

Another 5 star place in my new neighborhood. I love walking over, grabbing a coffee, and a snack. Note to all: If they ask you if you want your sandwich on x instead of the usual, say YES. It usually means something just came out hot from the oven. Paradise.

The variety of quiche served with fresh fruit is fast becoming a favorite for breakfast. The breakfast sandwich served on a fresh baguette was also delicious. The coffee is as good as I have found in town. The turkey sandwich with roasted peppers is also amazing! The baked goods are icing on the cake.
