Unfortunately, this restaurant is closing for good on Sunday Feb 24. I look forward to their re-opening in another location. I was enjoying the $ 8.95 weekend all-you-can-eat breakfast brunch that ran until 1:00pm; a tasty bargain. Our favorites were the fresh fruit, Grandma’s banana-leaf tamales, eggs in sauce, and the custom-ordered pancakes and omelets.

Had a very good lunch. Place is not upscale, but the food is very fresh and everything seemed to be made from scratch. Chips with Mole sauce and feta were complimentary and tasty. Fried chicken was very light, not greasy and came with rice and salad. The trio of tacos, chicken-pork-steak, came with mole and two other sauces and extra tortilla’s. All 3 were very good, and for $ 8 they were a bargain. Here’s something that I really enjoyed. Fresh brewed ice tea instead of that powdered junk, and black napkins. If this little place can do these things why can’t the so-called better lunch places??? Anyway, they take everything except AmEX, plenty of free parking around them, BYO, and the service was super friendly. As you can tell, I will go back.

Went here on a thrusday night before the movies and had the place to ourselves. Why when the food is awesome? I had the fried chicken and she had the fajitas, which arrived with steaming freshly made tortillas. Food is honest and simple and just good. I am definately coming back with friends.

Simplicity, honesty, quality and heart. That is what I’ve found in Antiqua Guatemala. The food is freshly prepared, served in an honest home style manner and it has never failed to please me. The menu is not overwhelming as they stick to the basics and do what they do well. Guatemalan food is not like«hot Mexican». It is subtly seasoned and tastes brilliantly clean and refreshing. The tamales are some of the absolute best I’ve ever had. The pork is stewed with green beans and then encased in homemade masa, then wrapped in leaves. A great meal. The tortillas served on the table in a basket are fresh from the grill… handmade. I give this restaurant a 5 star because it is the real deal. Nothing fancy. Clean. Great Service. Food prepared to order. Authentic. Done.

Thanks to Unilocal,we discovered Antigua Guatemala when we were wandering around Phoenixviile hungrily on a Saturday morning. The breakfast buffet was fantastic! We all love it and it is very reasonably priced, 7.95 adults and 3.50 for kids, drinks is extra. They serve the usual scrambled eggs, oatmeal, mini-boxed cereal, pancakes and french toast, sausage and bacon. What I like most was the huevos rancheros, the scrambled eggs with cauliflower, broccoli, peppers and onions was also very good. The black beans sauce was delicious and the fried bananas was great too. Then I tried their multilayer biscuits, it was airy and fluffy, dipped that into the black bean sauce and you have one delicious roll! We are pleasantly surprised and happy with the food. My 5 year old said to me a few days later: «We should go back, Dad» and I said: «Yes, for sure!» We will be back again.

I have gone to Antigua Guatemala many times and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the Salguero steak sandwich. The price is great for such a hearty and delicious sandwich. I am addicted to their(FREE) black bean and tortilla chips! My husband loves the Mixed Grill dish, because it has a little bit of everything. It is a BYOB restaurant. So, bring a bottle of wine or a few beers and kick back and enjoy the great food.

Have eaten here many times and strongly recommend it. There are a few negative comments about the food in others’ reviews, and I see where they’re coming from — the food is simple, not especially exciting or innovative, and it’s presented without any fanfare at all. But it’s solid, careful, consistent cooking, and I’ve never had a bad dish there. And you can’t beat the prices. The brunch deal, especially, is an unbelievable value. This may not be the place for a fancy date-night dinner, but as a place to take the kids on a moment’s notice, seriously, you can’t possibly go wrong. Also, there’s always Univision on, so you can brush up on your language skills while you’re there. Bonus! Oh, one side note: when you walk in the front door, you pass right by the entrance to(I think) the Moose lodge. Because of that, you have to pass through a sort of weird cloud of aromas, vaguely smelling like old cigarettes and disinfectant. Don’t be dissuaded — it’s not coming from the restaurant. Press on.

Miriam and I and a friend of ours ate here last night after reading all the great reviews. Maybe we didn’t order the right meals but the food was incredibly uninspired. There was little seasoning overall. It was fresh and well prepared but probably more like food suited to a retirement home. I had the fried chicken. It needed seasoning. The salsa it came with had no heat nor much flavor. It came with some rice with vegetables and a huge undressed salad. Blah blah blah. I am bored now as I write the review. Miriam had 3 tacos and asked for double beans instead of rice. She got one serving of beans and ended up asking for some rice because she got a thimble full of beans as her serving. They looked terrible, she’ll review them on her own most likely but the report wasn’t good. My friend ordered the grilled chicken. It looked exactly like my plate with grilled chicken. No spicy or special marinate on it and he said it was boring. We finished with a dry tres leches cake with a huge mound of caramel drizzled whipped cream. Yawn. I like South American cuisine very much. I was really disappointed. We’ll be back when we get our AARP cards.

A Phoenixville treasure. The family that runs it is unbelievably warm and hospitable at more than affordable prices and generous portions. Dined here twice so far, for dinner and for breakfast/brunch. Dinner was a mixed grill and also got to eat part of Mom’s tilapia because she was full. Both outstanding. The tilapia was not at all greasy and it was unmistakably fresh. Also, after seeing it on many a menu, I decided to live dangerously and try the beef tongue tacos. Well, at least I can say I tried them. Nothing at all on AG’s end, it’s just that it wasn’t for me. Breakfast — bar none, the best deal in town, maybe in all of Chesco. In particular I loved the sausages. One thing they’re going to have to work on though is holding the foods at a consistent heat level as the eggs ranged from tepid to stone cold. I see myself being at least a once per week regular customer. AG is more than worth the drive to Pville from wherever you are.

I came here tonight(Sunday) for dinner. I’m new to the area and, having moved from LA, am used to having a variety of great ethnic food all over the place. So I found this place on Unilocal and am glad. I had their Antiguan Chicken which came with a side salad, and a generous amount of rice. The boneless chicken breasts were HUGE. If the staff recommends you split something, take their advice. Patty was very sweet and recommended a new breakfast buffet they started this past weekend. Its from 7−1pm on Saturdays and is cheap. I think she said somewhere around $ 7. I’ll be bringing my friends here going forward!

My husband and I ate here. It was our first time having Guatemalan food. We loved it! This restaurant has a homey atmosphere. It is equally good for family night or date night. The food is not spicy-you add your own heat. We ordered the pupusas for appetizers: one pork and two cheese. They were delicious. I don’t know what other food to compare them to. My husband had the beef soup. It was huge, with large pieces in it, including half of a corn on the cob! I had the traditional fried chicken. Everything came with tortillas, rice and vegetables. We had also ordered tortilla chips with a tasty black bean sauce. I kept lining my tortillas with a little bit of the black bean sauce. My husband had the horchata(drink). It tastes like rice pudding flavor-wise. For dessert we had fried plantains. It tasted like they were dipped in a light batter before being fried. Very nice. We are looking forward to going back. I will try the mixed grill next time. The restaurant is run by a family. The husband is the chef the wife was our server(there are also other servers).

My entire family loves this BYOB restaurant! We have been diligently working our way through the menu. The ribs are fabulous, the tamales steamed in banana leaves are heavenly but my favorite so far has been the Pork Pupusas with Repollo(a latin sauerkraut) which is more like a slaw with a vinegar base, don’t be afraid, try it!!! My husband’s favorite is the Chargrilled Steak hand rubbed with special seasonings topped with Guatemalen salsa, scallions and guacamole. My 9 year old is in love with their Horchata(a drink made with rice, evaporated milk, sugar and cinnamon) Their black beans over chips is equally as addicting! The portions are ample, we usually end up taking some home and the prices are great(between $ 9 — $ 11 for an entrée) We have never had bad service no matter what night we have gone. The waitstaff is very attentive and extremely helpful especially to the Guatemalen food virgins who are not sure what to order. We feel very lucky since we are in walking distance of this jewel in Phoenixville.

So glad we found this secret gem! I didn’t even know it existed until a Unilocal search found it. I’m thinking it’s pretty new. Street parking but not bad since its off the main drag. The inside in huge like someone mentioned but it’s quite hidden from the outside because it’s in between trees and in an older building. The interior looks new, clean and welcoming. We were seated quickly early on a Friday evening but as we were leaving it was getting pretty busy! Started with horchata(may not get again). The food made up for that. Not a huge menu, which I prefer because that means they are focused on what they do make. Got the fried chicken and grilled platter. HUGE platters! Both came with fresh homemade tortillas(so good and texture was amazing!), pile of delicious rice, and side salad with dressing of your choice. The fried chicken was moist and not a lot of veins! The meat wasn’t dried and the crispness was great. The grilled platter is where it’s at. Three types of meat that are so perfectly marinated and seasoned. So tender… That chef surely knows what’s going on. I would recommend this platter because there’s a variety to try and it’s super good. I think for two platters and the horchatas it was around $ 28, so not bad for all the food you get. I highly recommend this place!!!

Very good latin BYOB. The revolcado(stewed pork shank) was excellent, but it did contain some«mystery meat»(i.e. non muscle meat), so be fore warned. But it was fantastic nonetheless. The guizada(sort of a beef stew) was very tasty(although the carrots’ and potatoes’ texture seemed as if they were frozen or canned). The pupusas were good; we liked the bean filling the most. The service was friendly, but a tad spotty.

Spectacular food & service! I ordered the Carne Asada which was grilled perfectly. My friends had the grilled chicken and the mixed grill plates and all had big smiles to go along with their big bellies. Priciest plate is $ 12.50.
