Tony was named by New Times as Best Barber in Phoenix in 1987, and I started going there then, when his shop was in the Stockyards restaurant building. He moved after they remodeled to 48th and Van Buren, a dicey location at best. But he was still the best barber in town. Sadly, for us long-term and loyal customers, and there were many, Tony passed away on June 8, 2016. We will miss you, Tony. I will never get that good a haircut again.

At first glance, neither the neighborhood nor the interiors of this shop give you confidence of a good haircut. And Tony’s language might not help further. During the haircut, i was just hoping that i wouldn’t walk out ugly. But when i looked at the work, it wasn’t bad at all. And the old style mechanical vibration massage Tony gave to my shoulders was so good. Never saw the machine before. And for $ 8.5, i’d definitely go there again. I can’t comment on the other barber in the shop(though he kept on bragging about his experience)
