RIPOFF! GOUGERS! I was suffering with the Flu(had been in the hospital, too), and needed to get easy-to-use thermostats installed to get control of the temperature in our new home. Stevens Plumbing and A/C agreed to come that afternoon. Mark shows up, begins his work and tells me about the Braeburn 1020 he recommended for the thermostats. He uninstalled the 2 old stats and put in the new ones. He mentioned that the first one would cost something like $ 240 and the second one about $ 210. I was too sick to think much about it. The install went fine. Took him about 10 mins a piece to install the new thermostats. Although he checked the furnaces, he didn’t replace the filters(which I assume would be a standard thing for a new home owner to need). I paid him $ 576.91. Today, feeling a bit better, I went online to see what these Thermostats cost. Retail price is about $ 35 each! A handyman could have installed for a fraction of what they charged. Plus, the receipt is not itemized. SHAMEFUL! I got burned and that’s my fault. But the power of the internet will be a major payback that will cost Stevens Plumbing and A/C FARMORE! I even gave Mark a $ 20 tip. He probably thinks I’m a sucker. He’s right.

When I want reliable work and don’t mind paying a little more, I go with Stevens. Yes they do charge more than what is reasonable, but thus far their work has been tremendous. Upon purchasing our house, our first two water bills were over 400. We didn’t live in the home at the time and gave Stevens permission to enter and fix the problem. 1200.00 later they replaced two toilets and our bill was back to normal. They have also installed a water softener for us and fixed a toilet. They do the job right, but do charge more. There are so many scam artists in the valley that sometimes its just worth the money to get it done right.

Steven’s Plumbing re-plumbed my house in Arcadia before i purchased it 6 to 7 years ago and have been trying to rip me off ever since. I figured I would use them due to their familiarity with the property… what a mistake! Recent quotes over the last couple of years include… $ 1200 to replace a hot water heater during the middle of the week. This is more like a weekend emergency price from a reliable competitor. $ 800 to replace a reverse osmosis system. Had the exact same system installed for ½ the price. $ 185 to install a $ 200 kitchen sink faucet. Got it done for $ 50! $ 571 and a 2 week time frame to replace a shower valve cartridge and rebuild the interior shower block. Not including the $ 50 service call to tell me it would cost nearly $ 600 to get my hot water working. I paid $ 65 for the part myself at a plumbing supply store and $ 150 to have it installed the next day. Needless to say there was no need to rebuild the shower block. HIGHWAYROBBERY!@#

I called them out for a water main leak estimate. Quoted 2 — 2.5 hrs for repair in labor and $ 100 in parts. Total estimate $ 750!!! I guess they just wanted to collect my $ 49 fee to give a ridiculous estimate! Almost $ 300 an hour to dig a hole and cut out and replace a pipe??? Not to mention, the tech thought he was a comedian. NOTFUNNY! Thanks for wasting my time and money guys! Just received another estimate for $ 225. That’s more like it.
