Phoenix Rack and Axle

I haven’t even got my car back (Lexus SC400) and I’m already giving these guys 5 stars. Instead of «throwing parts» at a driveline vibration they put my Lexus uup on the rack, spun the wheels and SHOWED me a U-​joint problem and a problem necessitating replacement of the differential. When I said, «How much $ for the diagnosis» the answer… NOTHING! So now they’re installing a replacement diffie for me, rebuilding the drive shaft, and I have no doubt the car will come back smooth and quiet. Too bad Arrowhead Lexus simply pointed their finger at the transmission mounts as the cause of all the problems.

Can’t recommend these guys enough. I bought a reconditioned steering rack and installed it myself. Noticed that one of the inner tie-​rods was a little loose. Drove the car in and the guy says «put it up on the lift and we will fix it, no questions asked.» And they did.
A+ on customer service and honoring their warranty.

Great service! I highly recommend these guys. I took my 96 3 series in, w/​a bad carrier bearing, flex disc and u-​joints. I dealt with Bernie and he took great care of me, he let me supply the parts I was able to find a better deal on, they also stocked the u-​joints that I could not find even at BMW. (They only sell replacement drive lines) I will definitely use these guys again!!!

These guys saved my day. 1500 miles from home and my driveline starts clunking — they were straight with me that I’d save time and money to pull it myself, which I did in their lot. They took it in the back and checked it out and brought it back saying it just needed grease in the splines. They greased the whole thing and didn’t charge me a dime. Don’t go here thinking they’ll give you a freebie, but you know these guys are honest business people when they’ll do something like that for someone they know isn’t even likely to be a repeat customer.

I’ve seen some negative reviews on this place so I thought I would write one since I run a business and know that getting 2 or 3 bad reviews out of some 20 to 30 thousand customers per month that you deal with like I do could be damaging.
I phone shopped around for advise and pricing because my 2000 GMC Sierra had a good size dent in the aluminum drive shaft and I suspected it was causing the vibration I was experiencing since I had already replaced the rims AND tires.
I took them the shaft and because my truck is a 4X4 they suggested I go with steel instead of aluminum and it would actually cost about 5 bucks less.
I left them the drive shaft on wednesday at about 12:30 and was told they usually get about a 24 hour turnaround.
The time was fine so I left them the shaft.
I went home and went to sleep because I had been up for about 35 hours straight because of having an inventory at work.
When I woke up at about 5:30 later that day, I had a message that my drive shaft was done and that they closed at 5:30 if I wanted to get it before then.
Well obviously I picked it up the next day and now that it is in, my truck even with its 185,000 miles on it, rides as smooth as glass.
These guys might come across a little rough but THEY ARE WORKIN GUYS!!!
Sure they don’t use a lot of yes mam’s and yes sir’s when they talk to you, they just talk to you… Kind of matter of fact.
They are very cool in my book since I don’t like a bunch of BS anyway.
If you need something done that they do, deal with the fact that they are just real people and take your stuff there.

Back in 2009 I was nursing along a 1997 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro that I purchased from a private seller with about 175,000 miles on it. At that point I was unfamiliar with the complexities and nuances of the Quattro setup in these cars and what components wear first and what causes vibration.
After replacing the wheels and tires I corrected about half of the vibration issues and after replacing all of the CV axles on all four corners I still felt vibration and a certain motion during acceleration and deceleration. A quick search on the internet found that there is a two-​piece driveshaft on these cars that is partially made of carbon fiber and that the car has a very sensitive balance element to it. I ordered the center joint and end joints and took it to a local VW specialist who does great things but he didn’t have the tools to handle the job.
After a quick internet search I called Phoenix Rack n’ Axle and was invited down the same day. I arrived at 11:00 AM and they quickly assessed my situation and said «no problem.» A few hours later they had mounted all three joints correctly and had balanced the unit and had suggestions on how to align the center driveshaft yoke correctly to eliminate wobble. The car was as good as new afterwards and while the car was sold to a friend two years later it still drives perfectly nearly 120,000 miles later.

Took my Dodge 2500 quad cab 4×4 here today because I had a vibration problem in my driveline. They took care of it and now my truck runs smoothly. I called and got friendly professional help on the phone, they gave me a quote and said I could bring it right over. Got my truck back the same day and the problems is fixed perfectly. All done for a very reasonable price. I could not be happier, I’ll recommend Phoenix Rack and Axle to all my friends! As someone else noted they have moved to 32^nd Street on the West side of the street between Van Buren and Washington.

Im pretty well known for destroying things, bummer when its a part that keep the wheels turning while out 4 wheeling in the middle of no mans land. I have used 3 other shops in town over the last 8 years. happy to say I was turned on to these guys by a local hot rod shop. now I have solved all my needless driveline issues with other shops!
Quality, customer service, timely service and fair prices are things that have left most business’s a long time ago, seems Steve’s shop held onto it!
I run their drivelines in my 4×4 truck, rock crawler, blazers and for a corvette project for a friend. they have got it right, the first time. each time. Bernie and curly hair steve in the back are great to work with, willing to spend time to see exactly what I need and have become friendly familiar faces!
I recommend and send plenty of folks their way, all have been pleasantly surprised and happy, you will be happy to Im sure.
They can take car of your drivelines, cv shafts, steering gear box’s and have have a mechanic as well for any other need or pesky issue your car may toss at you. Prices in my opinion are fair and service is above par!

This is a very good shop. The boss is a great employer. They have the best drive line guys in town. Bernie and Steve both drive line guys know what they are doing. The rack and piñón part and the axle part have good employees too. All of them seem to work together and get things done.
