Phoenix City Grille

A very unimpressive meal today for breakfast. I’ve always loved PCG, but my service today was a little on the weak side, and my eggs benedict was very disappointing. The hollandaise was super thin and I could detect no taste to it at all. They no longer had the pork tenderloin benedict which is listed on their online menu, but without good hollandaise I doubt that would have been much of an improvement anyway. I think I will stick to dinner here in the future.

I hadn’t been here in 10 years and was pleased to see it was still a great place to eat dinner. There are a lot of options on the menu, no matter what you’re in the mood for. The eggplant sandwich caught my eye, and I was glad to have ordered it! The crispy eggplant with the jalapeño jelly was delicious and unique. The fries that came on the side were hot and crispy. I also ordered a red sangria and it was one of the best sangrias I’ve had; it was a little drier than most, which I liked. I’ll be coming back to try more items on the menu!

I’ve lived down the street from PCG since December 2015 — finally got around to visiting. AWESOME! Really great atmosphere — much larger on the inside than you would expect from looking at the outside. Rebekka was our server and she was fantastic. I ordered a side salad (not listed on the menu but they were happy to prepare) and asked for a dinner roll. The roll was crusty on the outside, soft on the inside and served hot with butter on the side — the roll was delicious! In fact — so good that I ended up asking for and eating two more :) I selected the Smoked Pork Shoulder ($ 22.00) and my dinner companion selected the Bowl of Chili & Cornbread ($ 12.00). For dessert, we shared an order of the Bread Pudding ($ 8.00). All items had a great presentation and all were very, very delicious! The portions were generous. Looking forward to my next visit — it will be soon!

I’ve been here several times and have always had a good meal. I wanted salmon today… but I’m always reluctant to order salmon out. Even at upscale restaurants it tends to be way too fishy for my taste. I went out on a limb and ordered the salmon skewers over arugula and roasted beets. It honestly might have been the best salmon I’ve had out. It was cooked perfectly — with no fishy taste whatsoever — melt in your mouth good. The salad was wonderful as well. I ate every yummy morsel. I will definitely be back for lunch and this will be my go to.

I’ve been here dozens of times and each time they’re 5 stars.
The queso dip is the 2^nd best in the city! I hear it’s the same owners and Sierra Bonita…
The street tacos are amazing and along with the green and red salsa they’re the best in the city.
The portion size is bigger than avg. The prices are spot on for what your get and definitely worth it. Not cheap, not expensive.
Service is always fast and friendly.
Not hipster, not trendy. Just awesome food and great service.

I would never know that this place was here. It’s so hidden in the corner.
THE PCG hummus is a must. I would so come here just for the HUMMUS.
We came around 7:30, 8 o’clock. It was so dead inside. It was just my boyfriend and I in the restaurant. My boyfriend joked around and said that he made reservations just for us to dine in the restaurant. ahha. No. Lolz.
My entrée was the crispy eggplant Burger and fries. The fries were so crispy hot and fresh. My boyfriend devoured it. My burger… Ehhhh. I don’t how I feel about it. I didn’t taste the eggplant at all. I taste more of the bread crumbs and the bun than the eggplant. There was also a slice of a thick tomato. I can also taste the tomato, bun and the bread crumbs. that’s it. there was no spice or flavor to it.
From the outside, you would never know its so spacious and elegant inside. I love the wine bottle area, of course I had to take a picture in front of it. *smiley face*

This is a good place to eat. I had a steak sandwich, with cole slaw. I thought it was good. Steak was very tender, served on a roll. Serving isn’t to large which in my opinion is good. Have to cut down on my portions. Everything is upscale, even the presentation. I could care less about that. Only thing I care about is taste.
Service was very good, did take a while for the food to come out. However with six of us, we had plenty of talking to pass the time.
Is this a good place to eat? YES!
Is there better options? ABSOLUTELY!

I went in for a burger and I had a neighbor that had raved about this joint. Finally made it in a few days back.
I got the roasted beet salad and the16th street burgers with sweet potatoes fries.
Roasted beet salad was on top a bed of arugula that by the time I got it was a bit wilted from either the amount of dressing or the beets, that were freshly roasted. Beets were a good flavor, could taste the roast, but seemed to be more of an arugula salad with beets then the other way around. The citrus, few apple shaving, and pecans, were a nice complement to the salad. The vinaigrette was a nice compliment to the salad– though for me over dressed and I had forget men to ask for it on the side. Still tasty.
The 16^th street burger was good not anything spectacular. I happen to like my burgers a tad more rare than some chefs are willing to do — a bit more medium and dry than I prefer was what I was given. The cheese on it was slightly over powering, the mushrooms good and not over cooked and the few onions made a good compliment. Overall not a bad burger. Sweet potatoes fries fried to the right point and made great leftovers.

Loved the tasty food here & cocktails! Came here for happy hour that soon went into dinner. Their happy hour specials are great! We kept ordering their amazing French 75 cocktails non-​stop. The bartenders make it to perfection there, so I highly recommend it! I had the grilled asparagus with lemon aioli that was yummy! My fiancé ordered the carne asada tacos, which he said were fantastic. For dinner I had the beet salad that was good. Staff was friendly & food was good. Don’t forget to try the French 75… it has become my favorite cocktail thanks to this lovely place & brilliant bartenders :)

Locally owned and the food is fantastic and also locally sourced. The cedar plank salmon is one of their best sellers and is delicious and the beef short rib just melts in your mouth. The other really good dish is an appetizer that you can share and that is the The Original Griddled Corn Cakes. Layered corn cakes with black beans, chicken and cheese, it is awesome.
Give this place a try and you wont be disappointed.

This an upscale, independent, neighborhood restaurant that takes reservations. They offer gluten free options, happy hour and brunch. So why don’t I frequent this place? I just don’t know… I’ve never left here thinking the food or service was amazing but I’ve never thought it was bad either. This is a place I agree to go to at someone else’s suggestion, but I never suggest it on my own. So try it, I guess, or go a few more miles and spend a few more dollars at Hillstone where you are guaranteed a great dining experience.

I’m not sure if it’s the generic sounding name or if it’s just the nature of your typical american grill type restaurants not sounding exciting to me anymore, but I seem to always forget how good this place actually is.
The Restaurant itself is located in a strip mall but the inside is very well decorated and service is always friendly.
I don’t really have that much to say here — it’s your typical American Grill with some Southwest flair but unlike most of those places it is actually very good! And it’s local to boot!

Excellent food and service. Salmon was so tender and moist and the sauce wonderfully complementary for the fish. Portions were perfect. Vegetables were delicious.

I was invited to brunch with friends who are regulars. I’ve passed by this place a bunch of times. It’s in a strip mall and doesn’t look like much from the outside but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was casual with a touch of elegance. Our server was Nina who was delightful and pleasant. I decided on an Arnold Palmer for a beverage although my peers were having bloody mary’s and mimosas. I decided on the breakfast sandwich and asked that it be served on the gluten free hamburger bun. It was one of the tastiest breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. A couple friends had the «catch» of the day which I believe was salmon and they enjoyed it. I will absolutely be back.

My husband and I absolutely love coming here! The food is always spot on and delicious! On our last visit, we brought our 9 month old daughter and requested a high chair. The straps on the chair were broken so we asked for a different one… And the 2^nd high chair was also broken. The staff was amazing, food tasty, but would have been a perfect experience if we didn’t have to worry about the baby slipping out of the high chair.

Phoenix City Grill is a classic institution. Food has always been good and the service is great

Best place for a private event. If you are a rep looking to do a dinner training event you have to book this place. They have the private room next to the kitchen — away from the rest of the restaurant so it’s fantastically quiet if you are tying to give a presentation to a small group. No fee for the projector or screen — private bathrooms– personal server and top notch food. They made us a personalized limited menu but they will also offer full. Sheldon is the owner and he really set up a great facility — I travel the west looking for decent places to give small dinner presentations (8 – 20) and it’s always too loud or the food is bad. 5 stars all the way for Phoenix city grill

What can I say about this place that hasn’t already been said. It is a solid restaurant. The food is great, the service is always attentive and friendly, and it is always clean and well kept.

Terrific place. Hosted a dinner for a group of 8 on Christmas Eve. Food was excellent and the service was simply outstanding. Some of the best food in Phoenix in a pleasant, comfortable and accessible setting. Pork shoulder entrée was not only tender and juicy but tasty and interesting. One of the other guests couldn’t stop raving about the burger (I thought a questionable holiday dinner order but he loved it — was sure he was going to order Prime Rib). Everyone at the table was pleased with their food — scallops, pork shoulder, burger, pasta with chicken and cream sauce. Desserts were all tasty and big enough to share. All around great meal and enjoyable experience. I’ve been here a couple times and each time we walk out talking about what a terrific place this is. Highly recommend!

Came as a holiday party for my work. We were a huge group of people tucked into a party room. Service was excellent, food was hot & fresh. I had the cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. Both were excellent ! The burger was cooked perfect to order — thick and juicy. Fries were hot and crispy. Also had the hummus and pita app, FANTASTIC !!
I would love to come back on my own and try something else

Wonderful food, Shrimp, Short Ribs, served by a truly attentive wait staff in a cozy warm environment. We be back and soon.

Staff and ownership is overall wonderful. If something ever goes wrong they will make it right. Very rare do bad things happen. Great vibe. Great music. Happy hour all day Monday and Tuesday

Just stopped in for free lunch for Veteran’s Day. I had the 16^th St Burger and Horseradish Mashed Potatoes. WOW! I sat at the bar. The service was awesome and everyone made a point to thank me for my service. Feeling proud after this visit.

I keep giving this place a shot because it’s in my neighborhood but honestly. It just isn’t worth it. The service is what gets me. I can never flag someone down to place an order. I always leave and go to either Luci’s or The garage across the street and three years straight I have gotten spectacular service there.

We found the Phoenix City Grille by accident while visiting Phoenix. We were there for lunch and the food exceeded our expectations. The service was very good. The next time we are in Phoenix this will be our first stop.

What can I say about my local happy hour/​dinner favorite in Phoenix. They effectively cover all the bases for a great local resto. Chef prepares great apps, get on the email list if you are not already, and has a perfect range of entries that cover most appetites. Food is always prepared perfectly and the bar is a great place to gather. Can’t go wrong here. Planked Salmon, bacon wrapped shrimp and the Hummus plate are faves! Get some!

Came here for lunch with my co-​workers. I ordered a salad that came with beets and pecans… I forget the name. it was quite small for $ 10, but it tasted good. I wanted a pasta, but did not see any dairy-​free options on their menu. What was annoying is that my food came out about 5 minutes later than everyone else’s… even though it was a SALAD that did not require any cooking. what’s up with that?!
The nice thing about this restaurant is we were able to get a private room for our party of about 9 people.

Unfortunately we had very poor service for lunch one day. The foods was very good, I had the lunch special salad. Lunch for two people took over 90 minutes and it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. The location is easy to get in and out of, there was plenty of parking, the ambiance was relaxing and the place was very clean. I hope to come back and be able to write a better review.

We just had a small group dinner in their private room and once again they did outstanding! The food was great, the service was top notch and the private room was perfect. We do many private group dinners, usually at the chain steakhouses (Flemings, Maestros etc) but this place beats them hands down.

Had a ceaser salad and Huge bowl of Dreamy Draw chili comes with big wedge of cornbread for only 13 $ great service and friendly staff made it a great first time visit

Great place for a work lunch! There weren’t a ton of vegetarian options but the ones I tried (appetizer and entrée) were both excellent and I’d happily eat again. Like many other Unilocalers recommend, the crispy eggplant appetizer is really really good. Perfect balance of textures and a really great combination of flavors. I also had the season vegetable plate which contained a variety of roasted vegetables like cauliflower, carrot, and potatoe served with a lemony aioli which was perfect and spring-​like. On another visit I got the crispy eggplant sandwich, which is like the appetizer but super sized and served between two delicious brioche buns. Both entrees are fantastic! Service was great and the space is nicely lit with a lot of natural light. It’s just a little bit on the pricey side.
