Nadine C.’s Adventure to Phoenix!

This is the BEST UYE that I have EVER attended in the State of Arizona! Can I get a «WHOOP WHOOP»? Yeah! Let’s hear it for my Twinsie, Joyce W., who orchestrated her very First and very Successful UYE (Unofficial Unilocal Event)!!
Because of Joyce’s bright idea (why don’t you drive to Phoenix from Laughlin, NV — it’s ONLY a 3 hour drive), I had my first visit to Phoenix and had the opportunity to meet the AWESOME Unilocalers from the Grand Canyon State!
Eight Unilocalers from Arizona gathered with their +1s and this Unilocal Hawaii representative to create a Party of Twelve! We had Hello Kitty Valentine favors from our Hostess and Macadamia Nuts from Hawaii! The centerpiece was a Hello Kitty Lunch Bag filled with Trader Joe’s goodies, HK tatoos, and a Fortune Telling Horoscope Book which was awarded to the person who had travelled the farthest to attend the UYE!

The venue was perfect because we had the tables closest to the entrance and away from the other customers so we could have some privacy and more fun! Our server was great as she was from Mililani, Hawaii. Her Aloha Spirit encouraged us to be ourselves, so we really partied!
The food was delicious — the homemade bread, the ono soft-​shelled crab, the miso ramen with salmon and black fungus — WOW! The atmosphere was calm and pleasant so we had great conversations!
You might be wondering how we chose this location to meet up… We had seen Laz’ check-​in at Cherryblossom Noodle Café (4 Unilocal stars) and he said it was a good place! Too bad he wasn’t able to attend. We missed him! It was a convenient place as Snoh is right next door for some yummy dessert! Ahhh! What a perfect ending… until we meet again… Aloha oe! Mahalo to Unilocal Arizona & Joyce W. (aka J-​Wow)! No ka oi! Hana hou!

Ain’t no party like a J-​WoW party, cuz a J-​WoW party don’t stop! It was like walking onto the set of a game show. Prizes to the left, prizes to the right! I even got a prize for «BEST BIKE SHORTS». Nadine C surely left a positive impression with this cyclist.
And Bonus! I walked away with a new Unilocalmiga, Danyel M, who’s passion for Kauai exceeds my own. Danyel was rolling with her stunning eliteness, Meghan L. Finally Kazi H, the most gorgeous Persian ever, dropped some amusing stories on us.
And the food! I ordered the banbanji, just because it was fun to say… and it seemed in line with my dietary restrictions. Now I’ve been sugar-​free for almost 4 weeks, so I’m probably pretty sensitive, but that chicken tasted sweet! Could it have been brined in a sugar/​salt solution? Methinks…

And I’m so glad I did. Tasted fresh and was delightful. Went with the spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll, and I highly suggest you do the same.
And the festivities continued long after dinner, because Snoh Ice Shavery was right next door. It was the perfect environment to continue catching up with those favorite people you never see but once every couple of months… although J-​WoW did try spoon feeding me a delightful confection, I rebuffed her attempts… that temptress!

Had a fun night seeing and meeting everyone. Thank you, Nadine, for all the great goodies! Your twinsie Joyce won’t stop jabbering about how much she loves you. Hello Kitty is now on the bed and the beer is chilled in the fridge. I had a nice time eating and talking with you guys. Hope to see you again, Nadine!

What a fun night! Although I had the title of hostess, I felt like I was an attendee on the Great Nadine Show! I had brought some Hello Kitty Valentine’s for everyone but Nadine brought all of Hawaii and Unilocal!How did it all fit in her luggage? She must have put an Undetectable Extension Charm on her purse like Hermione Granger. There were games and prizes along with macadamia nut party favors… Whoa! Hats off to my cheerful and bubbly twinsie! She represented Unilocal Hawaii well and I want to put her in my purse and keep her forever. –MY– TWINSIE!
I had Miso Ramen tonight and washed it down with a Fuzzy Pink which has white peach syrup with house sake. After some noms, lots of pictures, laughter, and matching Hello Kitty ink with my twinsie, we all went to Snoh to indulge on some sweets. That Thai Iced Tea with egg custard pudding and condense milk… mmm!
Following many hugs and well wishes, I had to let my twinsie go. :(Hawaii is SO lucky to have my little twinsie [I’m older by 5mins.]! Next time, let’s have a UYE in Hawaii! Thanks for coming out to the desert, Nadine! Unilocal Phoenix misses you but I miss you more! Also, thank you to the perfect dozen for attending my first humble UYE. It was fun hanging out with everyone and sharing and introducing you to my twinsie! :)
