Mechanical Brothers Heating & Cooling

As a resident in the Phoenix area resident the past 15 years, I have a great appreciation of that feeling of cool air rushing over me as I walk into an air conditioned house or store. Also as a Phoenix resident, I know the dreadful, sweltering, triple-​digit heat we experience in the summer months. However with the simple push of a button or two, my home stays at a cool 72 degrees at all times.
That is, until my AC unit decided to go on summer vacation and stop working last night! The indoor temperature displayed on the thermostat began to creep up slowly causing a mild internal panic as I thought of the idea of trying to sleep in the rising heat. Thankfully we live in the 21^st century and I can quickly find some help on the Internet. My only dilemma now would be the outrages fees I was expecting to come along with repair services that would be marked up with «after-​hours» costs. Also the worry of what time they would even make it out to the house late at night.
After calling around a few places I found here on Unilocal to compare the costs of just coming out and seeing what was wrong, I came across the Mechanical Bros. LIFE SAVERS! Besides, providing me a lower quote without even letting them know what others were going to charge, the gentleman on the phone said they’d have someone out to us in around an hour. Not too bad of a wait considering the circumstances.
Just around 30 minutes later, the tech was already at our house ready to go. Took him to the AC unit after checking out the thermostat inside and let him get to work. Before we knew it, the glorious sounds of the AC unit kicking in filled our ears! Quickly followed by that glorious feeling of cool air! The tech informed us that a belt and fan (not too mechanically savvy here!) gave away from years of hard work and beating sun. The tech also topped it off some freon to help with the cooling power! From now on these guys will be my go to for air conditioning needs. Efficient, honest, and best of all did not break the bank!

These guys are lifesavers! This is a review I should have left a long time ago when my father’s AC unit just broke down and left everyone in the house frantic. Since I live on the other side of town, I had to find a company that was closer to my dad’s house and would come ASAP (it was literally 110 degrees outside.) As soon as I spoke with the owner, he told me not to worry and that he would have one of his technicians over right away. Well, «right away» in customer service world is usually an hour or two, but nope! The owner had someone at my dad’s house after 15 minutes!
Now here comes the shocker… we were 100% positive the AC unit was kaput, and ready to shell out the $ 5k or whatever it is for a new system. Again, nope! The technician was able to repair a faulty wire and the AC was blasting within the hour. Saved us thousands of dollars!
This company is incredible: great customer service, honest and more than fair prices. 10 stars if I could!

It was 10pm at night. The AC went out and here I am stuck looking for people that won’t charge me as much, till I called Mechanical brothers. Saved my life and his prices were 60% lower than all other companies. Other companies were charging me $ 400 just to come out that late. Mechanical brothers charge me $ 40 and took care of the problem right there and than. Thank you John for your excellent service. Amazing guy

My A/​C unit was blowing hot. I called Mechanical Brothers and they were out in about an hour later. They fixed the unit and we were back up and cooling. I have since refereed them several times to my clients, family and friends. They have reasonable prices and great service.

We bought a new house last July, and it was clear that we needed to replace our AC. The air flow was poor, and it was always roasting in the master and our daughters room. Salty diagnosed our systems short comings, gave a competitive quote, and listened to our concerns. Then the team at Mechanical Brothers recently came out and replaced our AC, air handler and duct work. Everyone was friendly, professional, clean and most importantly they did great work. As the summer weather is starting our house is cool and comfortable. Thanks guys!

After having 2 other people come look at my AC unit they wanted to charge me a arm and leg came to mechanic brothers they were very honest and prices were reasonable would use again if needed

I called these guys because I had problem. They told me they could come the same day. They came fixed the problem and gave me the best price. The worker was amazing he was nice and now anytime anyone needs a fix I tell them to go to mechanic brothers! Such a great service!

My Air Conditioner broke down so I called a random AC company and the guy wanted almost 1500 to fix it so I called mechanical brothers for second opinion they came out quick and there technicians were clean and professional and they only charged me 150 and its been working fine. Highly recommended. Thanks guys

The pluses are that they come out promptly and are very nice and «professional. «
My major complaint is the charge for Freon. My unit uses R22 which is being phased out for 410. These folks wanted to charge me $ 75 per pound of freon. The whole can only cost between $ 300 – 350 (family in business in another state.) I don’t mind a business making a profit but since I needed 14 pounds I could have bought three cans. That is not profit that is rape.

These guys are great! The owner has helped me out with my own a/​c as well as several people I know over the last few years.
The most recent was a good friend of mine who’s a/​c went out completely. His condo was rather old and the units were difficult to access and work with. He had called another company and was given a quote of $ 6500+ (no telling if more would be required once they got in there) to repair it and also told he’d have no warranty as there was no guarantee it would even work. He told me about it and we both knew that was unreasonable.
I immediately contacted George for him who sent a guy out right away for an estimate. While it is true that there was unforeseen labor (a possibility we were made aware of), George still worked with us and at the end of the day, not only did they make the necessary repairs for LESS THAN HALF the cost of the other guys’ orig estimate (INCLUDING that unforeseen labor), he also warranted the parts AND labor to ensure we have piece of mind that these repairs will last. The owner is a great guy who really wants to help people. He’s not looking to get rich off of your misfortune. I would highly recommend them to anyone! (The techs were courteous as well.)

This business and their owner use some very questionable practices. They performed repairs on my AC unit in May 2012 and two months later the AC was broken. Come to find out it’s because they installed old, used parts when replacing my compressor assist unit (capacitor). After discussing the situation with the owner, George, he stated he, «didn’t give a rat’s ass,» and promptly hung up on me. Not the ideal response I was hoping for. Don’t fall victim to shady business owners… and NEVER call Mechanical Brothers Heating and Cooling (formerly America’s Comfort Heating and Cooling) for anything.
