Great phở and wonderful egg rolls! I went for Vietnamese, so I didn’t eat any of their Chinese food, so I can’t say anything on those dishes, but my party was very pleased with the quality, taste and service on our first visit!

I have ordered multiple courses here. The food here is pretty savory and hit the spot for me. The food is great but just not the setting.

If you are thinking of stopping there you better keep driving to the other side of India School to Da Vang. If you want Bad food, Bad service and an incorrect order well this is your place. It was take out, or I would of walked out of the restaurant. Lets start unfriendly, no cutomer service skills very abrupt I did not know the worst was to come. Food the worst Phở Soup I ever had .As I opened up the container it was ¾ and a disgusting layer of grease floating on top there was enough that you could measure it. So in good faith I tried to soak up the grease with napkins. Less than half a container later I made that second attempt but all I tasted was grease. That order was out. The order of fried egg roles should come with mint, lettuce and parsley. NO mint. I requested an extra fish sauce for fresh spring rolls(which were rubbery by the way) in addition to the peanut sauce. So when I opened the fresh rolls fish sauce no peanut sauce. I asked for extra sprouts, well I am sure you can figure out the answer no did not get them. In short as I retreated the beginning keep on driving Da Vang is north on Indian School on the west side of the street I have almost never have establishment a worse rating

My favorite for phở! Friendly service, prices are just right and the food is absolutely the best! No complaints here, always a great experience from this long time customer.

I have been looking for another restaurant with good phở and I think I found it! I had #34 the shrimp, dumpling and pork soup with egg noodles which was suggested by our server and it was delish! The service was great and our server was friendly and seemed to give suggestions to everyone in the restaurant if they weren’t sure what something was.

Great, cheap authentic food. We had the vegetarian spring rolls, iced Vietnamese coffee, and the #45. I’m writing«#45» because I have honestly no idea how to say or write what I ordered. It’s some form of bun with shrimp, BBQ pork, and lots of veggies mixed in. Delicious and the perfect size for a lunch. My companions had phở of various sorts(reportedly there are types with tripe and types without, in case you’re not the adventurous type). Service was prompt and friendly, and according to our polyglot toxicology attending, our waitress speaks Cantonese and is excited to practice with whoever wants to chat(he’s a little nervous since apparently his Cantonese is a little rusty). I’m looking forward to bringing my husband!

The rudest staff I’ve ever encountered. Food was okay, but the poor experience I got there was enough for me to decide to never come back.

I don’t usually leave reviews but I thought I should for this spot. The staff was attentive and friendly which is a huge plus for me. The menu had plenty of options and there was a good sized lunch crowd. I think that also says a lot about a place. That being said, I would have given more stars had I liked my meal. I ordered the chicken Phở. Which I usually love. unfortunately the soup was basically garlic broth. I really love a genuine phở and this place added so much garlic that I literally couldn’t taste the jalapeño. I’m sure there are plenty of garlic lovers out there whom would rejoice but I am not one of them. So this review is for all the people like me who would rather not have garlic in our Vietnamese soup. Da Vang also adds a ton of garlic to their soup. Hope this helps some of you out there.

I dig this place. It’s nice that it’s so close to home, too. It’s affordable(I hear«cheap» has a bad connotation…). Everything we’ve eaten here has been delicious. And I hope to try more. The ambiance is… a little sanitized. Pretty much white, white, white(walls, floors, ceiling) with minimal décor — fake plants, cheap art on the wall. But that’s not why you come here. I enjoy the hot tea(and also very cheap… I mean inexpensive). They have an ample section for vegetarian choices, which I appreciate. I don’t feel I can recommend any specific dishes, yet, but that day will come. All we’ve tried has been worth it. The service… well, that’s one of the grey areas here. When we first left, we laughed about how many stereotypes this place filled… sadly…but truly. Service is one of them. It’s not untrue to say that some Chinese and/or Vietnamese owned establishments lack the same…“tenderness” that many American bred peeps tend to expect. And it can be frustrating to be ignored when you want your check. That’s all. If you’re debating, give it a shot.

Uhhh this place has a bit of an identity crisis. It looks like a phở restaurant, but has mostly a Chinese menu… A bit odd. I took my dad here for a late Father’s Day lunch. Our waiter was nice, but the rest of the staff were very stern and not extremely welcoming. We decided to try a little of both sides, ordering chicken phở and the moo goo gai pan lunch special along with some pork fresh rolls. The rolls were ok, but the sauce lacked flavor and typically the rolls have more herbs in them… overall, they tasted fresh, but more bland than others I have had. The moo goo suffered the same fate, very bland. The portion was large and came with hot and sour soup(which was very peppery, but not bad), but the food itself had little to no flavor. The phở was probably the best item, though it didn’t have the typical herbs in it — it came with cilantro but no basil… The chicken in it was good, but the broth didn’t taste like phở, just chicken soup. It wasn’t bad, and the portion was large, but if I felt like phở, this would not do. The bill was fairly inexpensive at about 15 $. With other phở and Chinese shops in the valley, this would not be my go to.

Good family atmosphere, and attentive service. Food prepared fresh upon ordering. Large pieces of steak with my meal. All the meals were good sized and tasty. Also purchased the egg rolls(more like spring rolls), crab rangoons are not available. Averaged about $ 9/meal. We’d eat there again!

I had the phở with special rare beef and stuff. $ 6.95 per bowl. I also had an order of the cha gio for $ 2.95 a order. The cha gio was exceptionally good. Probably best I’ve had in a while between here, Da Vang, Phở Thanh, Phở Avina, Little Saigon, Phở Tempe and a few others around the valley. The phở was good but nothing special that needed noting. They gave me a decent amount of vegetables. All in all, not bad. Place is clean, service is fast. Pricing is average but better than the Downtown and Scottsdale spots. I’ve had the Chinese food here and it’s good. Not as good as what I make at home but good, heh.

This place is a hidden gem in the desert. Small and quaint however, If You love Vietnamese food you’re going to love it here. Number 36 with beef is my favorite. Their phở soup dishes are out or this world.

I went with my daughter for lunch. I had passed by many times and figured I give them my business Instead of going to Da Vang where I usually go for Vietnamese food. The lady who was hosting was very attentive she pulled out a chair for my daughter and came to help us right away. She answered all my questions and was friendly. Usually at these establishments staff is efficient but not more than that. The place is very clean and organized all the tables had the utensils neatly arranged. My order of spring rolls came out first with peanut sauce, in used to the vinegar dip w shredded carrots which is the more authentic dip. The soup had rice noodles as they were out of egg noodles she said. I ordered a spicy phở with vegetables and the dumplings were stuffed with mushroom. I have never had phở with dumplings but this made it more filling and I loved the different tastes. The toppings to my phở were generous and the vegetables were fresh. I would definitely return to try more of their menu.

In all reality 4.5 stars. But here;s a breakdown of what’s up… It was about 1:30 or so… maybe 2 at the latest and I am standing on Osborn and 19th Ave… I find the place(it’s not facing the street) and walk inside… I grab a menu and take a seat to look at it. They have lunch specials each day from 10:30−3 that are $ 5.25 each served with steamed rice, soup, and an egg roll. Upon looking through the whole menu I decided to do the first lunch special, the sweet and sour chicken(or pork but I chose chicken) as well as a French coffee with cream($ 2.50) I went up to the counter to order… they’re not the most friendliest people; they’re very direct but they’re not rude… within 2 minutes after ordering my soup was brought to me as well as the coffee. The hot and sour soup is definitely hot lol. But it was good, and before I could finish the soup the chicken rice and egg roll were brought out. The rice was done nicely… not dry like a lot of places can be, and the sweet and sour chicken had peppers and onions mixed in as well as an orange colored sauce that was pretty good. It was a good sized portion… I left full but not overly stuffed. BUT… the best part of the whole thing was the coffee… I was slightly confused at first because it looked like it was black, but after stirring it a couple times I discovered it wasn’t. It was a deliciously smooth and rich cup of coffee that was worth the $ 2.50. The only downside of the coffee is they serve it in a glass with no handle so it can be a little hot to pick up. But the coffee definitely made me leave happy. I will likely be back. Maybe brave phở again… but maybe not.

This place is yum-may! I’ve been looking for a phở place near downtown. I’d become disenchanted with Rice Paper ever since they started charging $ 3 more for 2 «individual» bowls than the cost of one large that most people split. Seriously? Any who, this is about Maxim’s…this is a hole in the wall, no frills, order quickly kind of place. As any one who’s ever walked into a local hangout where you are standing there with Newbie written all over your face, be prepared, you will be the newbie, all the other patrons will have knowing looks on their face, and you will sheepishly sit down wondering if you will actually be served. Take breath, laugh at the situation, and be prepared to get some damn fine food. I ordered the«various cuts of beef» bowl and was quickly told to get #16 instead. The waiter had a Jerry Seinfeld-esque nature about him, so I complied. I had visions of standing in line and being told, «no soup for you!» Which, of course, made my friend and I laugh even harder. So my rare thin slices of beef phở came and for all the new kid on the block nervousness, it was well worth it. Broth was tasty, the meat tender, the phở fixings fresh. My vegetarian friend ordered the veggie egg noodle soup which was equally good if you’re into that non-meat sort of thing. In fact, they have a decent variety of vegetarian dishes. We shared an order of veggie spring rolls. Not as good as Rice Paper, but hey, you can’t have everything! I look forward to becoming a non-newbie and trying their extensive offerings. Enjoy!

This is probably a good place to go to as far as it comes to real Vietnamese food. I’ve been to other places and I was not impressed. I got the mi đac biet(egg noodle combination) and the broth contained a lot of flavor. I normally don’t like to add anything else to my bowl except for lime. The noodles were over cooked but the broth redeemed itself!

Kind of a dive, but delicious. I’m a fan of this place because it’s inexpensive, and the dishes are fabulous. Who cares if it’s in a cheesy strip mall. I love that they have plenty of vegetarian options, so I am quite happy about that. I’m not a restaurant snob who lower restaurants ratings just because it’s located in the seedy strip mall. As long as it’s good, and the service is great. I’m giving this independently, and family owned local business 4 stars.
