Advantage Rent-A-Car

Negative stars. Worst experience ever today. I go to get my car rental that I reserved a month ago, and they won’t take my bank card. It’s a MasterCard/​debit credit card. He tells me it’s the business policy not to take that kind a card. I call my bank and they say my card should be good. Luckily I have a friend pick me up at the airport. I get to the hotel and go to check in and realize the car representative still has my identification. I call the service number in every option goes to a voicemail box that says full. I leave a message with the lost and found over four hours ago and I still don’t have my ID. Horrible horrible company.

What else can I say after reading other reviews? I wish I read them BEFORE I rented a car from them! As with other reviews, they switch and bait when you arrive. Good luck getting that low price listed on Orbitz or other travel services. They offer a low rate, and then you end up paying Hertz-​like rental fees. When returning the car, one guy is trying to process a cavalry of cars returning. I made my flight by 3 minutes because of the delay in returning my car. As stated by other reviewers, the customer service reps are some of the rudest I have ever encountered. Listen up Expedia, Orbitz, and others. drop this company from your client list! I am now hesitant to use Orbitz because they do not list reliable rental car providers. Are they the same with hotels? I may never know, since I will not likely use Orbitz again. For you travelers, don’t use them. you won’t get the listed price. Also, you will not get a car you will like. They tried to pawn off a Volkswagon Beetle as an intermediate car. Are you kidding? I said I would like another intermediate model and the rep said they didn’t have one and I would have to upgrade to a full size. I now pay premium pricing. If I want to pay premium price, I’ll go to reliable companies like Hertz or Avis. There were more annoyances, but I think I will stop right here.

Booked an economy car. Was told it would be a Smart Car. I called BS. I even went to their ramp and no Smart cars to be seen. Bottom line, Mark lied just to upsell to a higher level car. Didn’t work. After my vacation I’ll be notifying corporate, B.B.B. the Phoenix Mayor, Airport Authority, and the news outlets. Hopefully social media and the above list will get some notice!

Liars, never rent from them again. I would write what all happened but it looks like everyone has done it already.

Caveat Emptor… let the buyer beware…
The advertised price seems like a bargain, but there are hidden fees and extra insurance is very expensive.
$ 9.99 per day to add your spouse as a driver. So if you make the reservation and you are not the driver, there is a hidden fee…
Driving during peak tourist season, we thought we’d add fault free insurance, wow it’s about $ 30 per day
The car was great and the staff were very friendly no efficient, but probably going to stick with a Enterprise or another vendor in the future.

Crooks all the way. Totally unethical with their methods. I should have checked Unilocal for this one. If you book through Southwest for air and car and change your flight, the site makes you think it updated the car, but it does not. They get you at the airport when you return the car by charging you exuberant amount. Advantage customer service states the system does not update if it is less than a day. That is how they get you. Use American Express if you have to book with this company or better off, never use them. I NEVER will use these people.

I WILL NEVER RENT FROM HERE AGAIN! This is the first time I have ever rented a car in my hometown because I recently moved and I haven’t changed my license yet. The guy at the counter told me I had to get the insurance with them because I didn’t have insurance card on me to prove my insurance, which is a complete LIE!!! That total was $ 125. When I picked up the car, the tank was half full and I asked the attendant at the gate to note it. When I returned the vehicle with the same amount of gas, they charged me $ 50 for the other half of the tank that was never there to begin with! Worst experience renting a car I’ve ever had!!!

We rented a car from Advantage Rental Car and picked it up on November 19^th 2015 around 10pm and returned it on November 22^nd 2015 around 3pm. The customer service agent was very rude when we politely declined all his add ons.
He told us he wouldn’t charge for an additional driver if we upgraded to a car that was 150% higher then we reserved. We told him No Thank You. He said I needed to because the car was very small. Not sure if he was calling me fat or not Lol… Still Declined.
He told us about his great Fuel plan that would only cost $ 28. We only needed a car for 40 – 50 miles. We declined and he told us we better fill up within 2 miles of the airport and bring a receipt! We did fill up across from the airport and only used ONE Gallon of fuel at $ 1.79 Their was nobody to give the receipt to.
He was very rude that we declined all the insurance add ons.
We found the car in the spot he told us and it had a damaged bumper/​fender. I went looking for an agent to show. He handed me a slip to mark the damage.
We got home on the 22^nd and on the 29^th we were charged an additional $ 95 for three days of rental car. They said we returned the car on November 25^th. Not true. We returned the car on November 22^nd. There are signs to leave the car and Keys inside. No agents to talk to, or get a signed copy that the car was returned in the same condition.
The only proof we have is our Flight Itinerary and Boarding Pass that we returned the car on November 22^nd. After being on hold for nearly 20 minutes, we finally got to talk to customer service and she asked that we emailed her proof. We have done so and hope to see our credit in a timely matter.

I rented the car at Advantage rent a car. And NEVER AGAIN! When we returned the car the person check it and told us that everything is good to go. a month later the claims department called and said that we owe them money because there was a crack windshield. How would we have known if they had rented the car out to other customer. And why did the person said that everything was good than a month later tell us that the windshield was crack. I am an easy going person but I need to post this to hopefully help others. Check everything before you give the car back especially the windows and windshield.

Charge us 250 extra saying the gas tank wasn’t full after we were completed. When we dropped the vehicle off, the service provider acknowledged full tank and total price. Received a charge to our credit card for 250 more ! Thieves !

Great customer service by Martin, he was a great help and even got us to upgrade our car, something with a little more power as we were going to be driving all over the state. We ended up getting a convertible… unfortunately there wasn’t any windshield wiper fluid in it, our breaks squeaked a bit and it had a hard time getting up those mountains but we were so glad we had the convertible for the amazing views and Martin had some great suggestions for us. Thanks for your help, we’ll def. come back if we’re ever in the area again!

BEWARE RENTAL SCAM — This company will make you think the price will be one thing but in reality it is higher. They said I signed the LDW portion of my agreement but when you look at the signatures that is the only one different. I specifically told the guy at the counter I did not want to be charged anything else or have any additional coverages other than what my insurance provided. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY… GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

With a long line of customers waiting to be served, 1 of the 3 agents left. Now, with 2 agents trying to up-​sale items like gas @ $ 8/​gal, 2^nd. driver @ extra cost, additional insurance and then telling me that the car that I’ve reserved may not get me up the road to Sedona. Why are they renting these cars? She tries to rent me a Suburban but I upgraded to Chrysler 300 for the extra trunk space. With so many forms to initial and sign when you’re in a rush to get out, you don’t read the fine print. Because I was not very accommodating to the other items, she tells me to bring a full tank of gas receipt from any gas station within 1 mile radius of the return lot. That was BS, I brought back the receipt, but it was not needed. The car was not inspected very closely before leaving (no agent except the exit gate) and not inspected when I returned it. I should have take pictures before and after, but in situations like this, you’re always in a rush. Car pick up was in a dark garage with no agent to explain new car features, ie opening the gas cap, head lights, open trunk. I did not get a paper receipt and instead the return agent will email one to me. I never felt comfortable with what I read about Advantage all the time I had their car.

If you want to wait forever and in line to get your car this is the place for you and when you get to the front desk all they try to do for your next 20 mins is up sale you a better car. Then you get your car in a dark garage the car not washed and ask you to check it. And when you return the car they will come up with anything for you to fill out a report on the car. Thanks a lot advantage way to do good business NEVER AGAIN!
