On top it is white fudge with Oreo cookie bits, bottom right red velvet and white fudge with milk chocolate shavings, and last but only for today (till I go back for more) is the salted caramel with chocolate fudge. From this place who likes to share their fudge with the community and I thank them for doing so. mmm The Nest Egg in Phoenicia, N.Y. I say if you see the sign for Phoenicia go there and STOP AT THE NEST EGG.

I was in there twice last weekend — once by myself and once with another person. Both times I said hello to the young dark-​haired girl that worked there and both times she stared at me and skulked away. The person I was with went up to try to buy some fudge and the girl gave her such a stink eye that she walked away. This is pretty much the opposite thing that I would expect at a store like this.

I saw an ad for this place while trying to do some local gift shopping. This is probably the best Country Store I’ve been to — they really have a great variety. Their fudge, which we got to sample, was amazing and I got some for my Father for the holidays. I also found a pair of cute pink Catskill Mtn sweat pants as a gift and other candies as well. I also bought a hot pair of sunglasses for $ 4.50! I would have paid like $ 15 in Manhattan — what a deal. I’d be back and would come back out of my way to hot this place up again. There were also some cute restaurants nearby that would pair up nicely to another trek out here.

Yeh, they have it. This is one of the most comprehensive «country stores» I have ever seen. I make sure to stop by every time I visit Phonecia and this time was no exception. This was one that Katie had to experience first hand.
I really wish I had noticed the sign the said «please don’t play with toys» because man was that pop gun loud but a lot of fun. We left with locally made fragrant candles, maple sugar candies and some preserves. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

This is one of my favorite «country» stores. The Nest Egg sells EVERYTHING from candy (and home made fudge), to souvenirs, greeting cards, magazines, post cards, toys, camping/​fishing equipment, fishing maps, books, fresh fruit/​produce, plants, etc… etc…It is a total eclectic mix — and it WORKS.
The upstairs has an insane collection of vintage Christmas decorations, cards, bumper stickers (we’re talking «Alf» & «Ziggy» here), mugs, etc… etc…
If you’re visiting Phoenicia, the Nest Egg is a must. So charming and old school. Stores like this have become rarities.
