One of the many in Anderson Valley. The winery known for it’s sparkling wines. Tastings for a fee. Grounds are well kept. Room was large. Tasting offers five sparkling choices. Staff was pleasant and on point. Described all offerings well. We elected for one tasting to share. We both enjoyed much so. Sparkling offerings were on price point with tasting. We didn’t take any bottles home as we already had like a case between the three wineries we stopped in before here. Overall good experience.

Impossibly gorgeous setting. Wine tasting is only free for members — $ 6 for anyone else. My tip? Spend $ 8 and get a full glass of their excellent Pinot Noir.

Given the basic tasting fee($ 6) — you must conclude this deserves five stars. I prefer Roederer versus the other ‘supermarket’ CA sparklers(Chandon, Mumm, etc) — and there are several smaller batch wines to try here, too. A fantastic value and a very scenic spot. You are a Phool is you pass through Philo and do not stop at Roederer…

Stopped by this destination champagne house on my way back from Fort Bragg. Bottles of bubbles are reasonably price from $ 20 – 40, surprisingly. We ordered a bottle of the rose and took it out back to one of their patio tables overlooking the beautiful Anderson Valley. Bring your own lunch and they will supply the bubbles, glasses, ice bucket and cutting board and knife for all your cheese needs. I thought this place would be prestigious and expensive, but I was pleasantly surprised by their causal setting, friendly service and good prices.

We came here this past weekend for a tour and tasting. Make arrangements ahead of time via their website to schedule a tour. There was a slight mix-up in communication from the gentleman at the tasting room and who we e-mailed but it was all worked out. When we arrived at 1pm on a Saturday there was a large crowd gathered around the bar. The kind gentleman(I didn’t catch his name, but he said he had been working at Roederer for 4+ years), said that he might be able to give us a tour once the crowd died down. Roederer Estate specializes in Sparkling Wine with a storied history from their French owners Louis Roederer. I started my tasting with the Brut and Brut Magnum. Once I started the Brut Rose we were off for the tour. We got a great history of the winery and the whole process. My favorite wine was the L’Ermitage. I highly recommend Roederer Estate for a tour and tasting when you are in Anderson Valley. Make sure you grab lunch at Stone & Embers just South of Roederer. See my other review for details. Pro tip: schedule a tour ahead of time via the website!

One of the few places in the anderson valley that charged a tasting fee, however it was very reasonable at $ 6 for 6 pours of some fantastic sparkling wines. Saffron gave us our tasting, she was very personable and friendly as well as quite knowledgeable of the area and the history of the wines she was selling. The location had a very beautiful view and is worth making a stop at if you are a lover of sparkling wines.

Very pleasantly surprised. Typically a sparkling wine house is all about shuffling you through as quickly as possible because another freaking limo just pulled up. While the tasting room counter was full when we arrived, it didn’t take long to get a spot and the journey began. The sparkling wine was top-notch. Complex and diverse from top to bottom. Pricing was built to accommodate most price points without watering down the brand or coming off as too full of yourself. The grounds are great, planted at the top of a hill overlooking one of the more open parts of the valley. Only downside was that the view from the patio was obstructed by landscaping, likely due to the fact that some pretty stiff coastal breezes can come sweeping through and they probably need a windbreak. As with many sparkling houses, the still wine doesn’t measure up and much better alternatives can be found elsewhere. We had a chance to visit their partner, Domaine Anderson, earlier in the day and they had some fantastic Chardonnay and Pinot. Perhaps Roederer will start carrying D.A. to exhibit their partners?

As wine lovers from Europe, my husband and I were very eager to taste the Californian sparkling wines. Since we have great memories of our trips to Épernay and Reims, we were looking forward to become more familiar with Roederer Estate. Although we enjoyed their wines, we were very dissapointed by the commercially driven focus of their tastings. We were expecting to get more insights in the origins of the Estate, but instead were merely offered a flight of their wines. Which could have been somewhat satisfactory if the staff had shown appreciation for, and knowledge of what they were offering Also, don’t arrive after 4 pm because they will be cleaning up already and you won’t have the full trading experience.

This is an update of a review from last week. Stopped by Saturday and had a great time. Great tasting experience in part because of the great bubbly, the amazing views and our host, Jim. This is the Roederer I remember

While researching for my wine blog, I visited all the sparkling wine producers in the Napa and Anderson Valleys, and Roederer Estate is one of my top-2. Unlike many other chateaux, it is more about wine than entertainment: while the views are gorgeous, don’t expect a glamorous tasting room and fancy art. But the wines are excellent, and the service is cordial, personable and down-to-earth. If Jim is in the tasting room, take the winery tour with him! It will as informative and detailed as you want it to be and Jim won’t be shy to share his personal opinion. It is quite rare and all the more valuable. What’s more: at $ 6 for the tour($ 3 for just the tasting), the price is simply unbeatable. P. S. Tours should be booked in advance

I am shocked to see only 45 reviews. This is the best place ever. Fantastic tasting of a great brand. When I asked what their main offering was in France, the response was Cristal. Big Baller. Total blast – great value for the tasting – very knowledgeable staff –lots of fun

Roederer is a must stop. I personally have a huge love for sparkling wines and now that I have had true Methode Champenoise I will never go back to the days of drinking Cooks. These are exceptional wines. I love the L’Ermitage. Slow-rising bubbles; flavors of ginger, cinnamon, and a slight cherry finish. The staff is very friendly and helpful with directing you through a wonderful flight. Take a lunch to enjoy on their patio and pair with some of the best bubbly in the county.

On the weekend afternoon that we arrived at this pretty estate up on a slight hill, there was an inviting long table of free food. The spread was nice, and it was always refilled for guests, for it was May, the Pinot Noir weekend & Open House tastings for Anderson Valley! The tasting that we had was also free, which was nice. In total there were about 4 – 5 different kinds tried. But we are not big fans of the French, dry style of bubblies. We tried a whole range of them, and the trying was not easy, as our pourer was on the verge of distracted/disinterested/rude. The most minimal of eye contact. I know it’s a respected label out there. But even the highest end one lacked, for us, a great flavor that we could part with some money for a bottle. There is a nice large table outside, but the sitting outside in general is not plentiful. A bench here and there. The building is actually pretty large. Rounded left and saw other very pretty rooms, what looked like a kitchen-Walk around in back in order to see the rest of the property.

I’ve had their sparkling wine so many times I can’t count anymore. Pretty much every fine restaurant in the US carries it and it’s a wine country staple for a reason. Not to be confused with the Louis Roederer of Reims France, though they’re related by the fact that Jean-Claude Rouzaud was the president of Louis Roederer. If you do however like the French classics, the new world one holds it’s own quite well too

There’s not much to complain about when you’re sipping bubbles with your friends, surrounded by vineyards on a clear sunny day. Roederer got the job done, with a tasting flight of bubbles for just $ 6 in their classy hillside tasting room. I was impressed by the fancy bottles they were letting us taste: magnums of their grand cru, vintages you can’t find at Safeway, stuff like that. You can get some good bottle deals here, so if you’re a bubble lover you should consider stocking up. The prices and selection are quite special. Both the gentlemen working in the tasting room were professional, but not very warm. They must be sick of city slickers coming in just to get buzzed off their bubbles. Besides tasting, you can order wines by the glass and enjoy their outdoor patio overlooking the valley, too! Hence, the ability to get a little saucy. But hey, we’re on vacation! There’s only a couple bubbly dealers in the valley, so Roederer is a must.

Sparkling wine? Yes ma’am! Beautiful estate and a great tasting room. It’s also nice to hang out outside on the lawn or under the patio, especially on a nice day. I mean, really, who can go wrong with sparkling wine? Also, the sparkling wine was served at the White House. Definitely worth visiting for a tasting.

Pretty good Brute, that’s about it though. The view was excellent of the valley. The guy pouring our tastings, Jim was his name I think, was a bit off. The women that we were with didn’t appreciate the comments he was making about the Roederer bottling workers(a bit sexist) and he just seemed to want to talk and talk about nothing anyone really wanted to listen to. besides Jim, this is a great place to visit. We brought our own lunch and sat out side and enjoyed the sun.

If you love champagne and long car rides, this is your spot! Worth every moment of the drive to sample at at least 5 different sparkling wines. I would imagine that on a warm, sunny day a person could spend hours on the patio enjoying the view. With a full glass of bubbly, of course!

Anderson Valley usually has more intimate, smaller tasting rooms, but the one at Roederer Estate was very expansive, and had a large variety of interesting antique-y furniture. It was almost too stuffy and a tad ostentatious; kind of like if your grampa was a world-renowned explorer and you were sitting in his formal dining room twiddling your thumbs amongst his worldly souvenirs. We visited the day after Labor Day, so there were no crowds. Perhaps that’s why the person in the tasting room was so disinterested about her job; we got a few half-hearted smiles thrown our way, and she was by no means unpleasant, but I’d never seen anybody less excited about pouring wine. She answered our questions, but didn’t really volunteer information or make recommendations, which kind of dampened our excitement and made me feel whatevers about the estate anyway. While the sparkling wine was very good, Roederer’s pinot noir had an herbal, almost medicinal feel. So we ended up with a bottle of sparkling(great, since that’s what they’re known for). I’m glad I came here because I notice their name on a lot of wine menus every time I eat out now.

Of all the vineyards we went to, Roederer let me down the most — admittedly probably in part because we had such high expectations. The estate is certainly beautiful, though I feel like some of the bushes around the patio could have been shorter to let in more of the scenery. The guy leading the tastings was obviously overworked, as there were three groups of tastings, someone for a delivery, and someone purchasing a few cases, and there was ultimately a lot of time in between each of our pours. I will say, he did a good job keeping track of where everyone was during their tastings for the most part, though he barely spoke to us about any of the wines, which was disappointing. Can’t say I loved any of the wines, either, and I tend to be a fan of sparkling wines. I found most of them too dry personally. Lastly, there was loud music playing in this large hall, which made the experience feel a bit more contrived. I’m glad we went but would not list it among my favorites.
