We visited to try the all-you-can-eat promotion I saw advertised on Facebook. It took several drive-bys to find the place, and once we did, we were kind of worried by the look of the building. But while Roca doesn’t have the swanky atmosphere of other local sushi restaurants, it does have stand out sushi. During our visit we enjoyed the Queretaro roll, the Sake crunch roll(which was huge!) and the Durango roll. We were not a fan of the Tlaxcala roll, but the server swapped it for the Roca roll, which was stellar. The only negatives for me were that they served Pepsi and not Coca Cola and that the chef was heavy handed with the sauce on the rolls. If she would lighten up a bit, I think the individual ingredient’s flavors would come together even more. We didn’t want to give up stomach real estate to the salads(sunomono, squid, tuna or salmon) or the rice, but nearby tables seemed to enjoy both. It was a pleasant experience and I think we will return again.

Love coming to Roca when I have a sushi craving but don’t wanna drain my pockets. Most of the rolls I have tried are great. The spicy edamame is DELISH! Roca Rice is also a must have. This place is not always busy so it’s very calm and chill here. Never a problem when I come

Wow, this place is definitely a winner! It was a bit out of the way and not in any of the«cool» McAllen area hangouts but it was worth the adventure. Walking in, I immediately felt like walking out, but that would of been rude considering everyone looked our way when we entered. So we braved on and took a seat. We didn’t know what to expect because there was only one server, I felt kinda bad for the guy. But this place won me over with their one of a kind sushi rolls! The sushi chef knows what he’s doing here, his flavor combinations were all pallet pleasing. We tried the, Aguascalientes roll — um yum! We also tried the, Cheli Roll which was my personal favorite. There’s just something about putting scallion in a sushi roll that gives it a real wow factor, not to mention the complimentary asparagus flavor, it just worked like a dream. We also ordered the edamame and the fried rice, tasty yumminess. I’m so glad that there’s a chef here that is daring enough to blend Japanese and Mexican flavors. Plus it’s BYOB/W LOVE!
