I had the most delicious lunch today. It was probably the best fried green tomatoes i have ever had. The FGT was expertly fried and on a bed of lettuce with balsamic vinegar and a special sauce. Yummy! I also had a tuna salad that was so fresh and delicious. The staff was so friendly! The 2 cooks were very awesome!

They do trivia on Tuesdays so a group of us decided to check it out. Other Unilocalers had recommended the fried green tomato melt so that’s what I ordered. The waitress didn’t know what they had on tap, but she could’ve been new so no worries, I walked over to the bar to order a drink. Very small selection of beers for a bar, but still fine. What was crazy was how slow the service was. As a half hour passed and other people got their food, I asked my waitress if the order had been forgotten, but she assured me they were working on it. I received my sandwich over an hour after I had ordered it, and I have to say, unfortunately, it wasn’t at all impressive or worth the wait.

The food here is stunningly good for a such a small venue. One of the chefs, Gary, makes and amazing she crab soup, full of crab and delicious. If you come on a Sunday morning, their brucn menu is expansive and full of different breakfast foods like the alibi club, which has any meat and a hamburger party AND an egg. The staff is friendly but not overbearing, and they’ll do any kind of food you’d like.

We were greeted when we walked in, but you seat yourself to a table of your choice. We had three different people check on us throughout our stay to make sure we were doing alright and enjoying the food. I ordered chicken and waffles with potatoes and a glass of orange juice. The chicken breast didn’t have much seasoning on it, but it was tender. I don’t like too much salt, but I do appreciate some type of flavor. The meal kept me full for a few hours. Overall the employees are friendly, but the food is regular. It wasn’t crowed around 1pm on a Saturday afternoon.

Food was ok. They messed up my order and overcharged me. The service was very slow, it seems like they would rather sit around and talk rather than take the time to actually do their job. My wife had to go up to the bar just so we could get our coffee refilled. We won’t be going back.

Just had«dinner». I really didn’t eat it. Ordered Apple Salad, which was one third rotten/slimy. Returned it, and just went for a grilled cheese. I got wonder bread slices with terrible cheese in it. You don’t believe me? Check out the pictures! Btw, we are new to the area, and we tried this restaurant based on the pics on Unilocal– no such beautiful food was served to us. Oh the fried green tomatoes were good indeed! The atmosphere is nice. I have to go home make dinner now– oy vey!

Came here for trivia night which by the way is on Tuesdays! And if your team comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd you receive prizes! A really cute place to have a drink or some food in Petersburg. I tried the deep friend green tomatoes BLT and let me tell you, soooooo amazing. I found my new love for deep fried green tomatoes and I highly suggest giving it a try if you end up here. Prices are great too!

Nice atmosphere Slow service. Like noticeably slow, sometimes you wonder if they remember you ordered your food. Trivia on Tuesdays is great and rewarding though. Everyone is local and super fun to be around, just need more people or quicker cooks

My daughter ordered the«BB»(?) salad as her entrée. Cost — $ 10; Value — about $ 4.99. It was the equivalent of a side salad at Sizzlers. The burger I had was really good, but the order took too long to get to the table. In general, service was slow and the value was not quite there.

Good food, good service! I got the burger and onion rings and they were great. My dad really liked the butternut squash(but it’s pretty garlicky) and bbq. I like the atmosphere and will probably be back!

$ 27 for a shot of Jefferson on the rocks. Really!!! And their beer selection seems to be local stuff. There wasn’t much of others to choose from. Other than that, the place is nice to hang out. The live music wasn’t very loud, so you still can talk to people. Maybe I’ll try the food next time and skip the alcohol.

I’ve been here a few times now, and I just couldn’t decide how I wanted to rate the bar. It’s very clean, has a nice setup, nice tables. The food I’ve had there was good food. The service is probably why I give it a 3 star. Out of all the times I’ve gone in I’ve had DECENT service once. I’ve been in on busy nights, and not so busy nights, and both times it seems to take me a while to get a drink. And I think that’s another 3 star reason, is that this place is a hit and miss. Sometimes it is crowded, other times it’s empty. Sometimes it closes before it’s supposed to. I’ve been by once and it was closed an hour and a half before the close time was listed on the door. They appear to have some good specials going on every day, and their beer choices are okay. They have your regular run of the mill beers, and then a few nice craft beers. Overall I go in every now and then to check out what’s going on. They do a lot of acoustic singers I’ve noticed and they’ve been pretty darn good. If you’re in the area, I’d check it out. Especially for food. Their menu is exquisite.

Don’t waste your time or money. This place has really declined in 6 months since we were last here in early March. We started with easy mozzarella caprese and some slightly over cooked onion rings. One boy got a shrimp Po boy that he finished. Our guest got the pan fried chicken served with no gravy. The biggest disappointment was the shrimp and grits. Only 4 shrimp. Fresh yellow corn grits with little flavor. No cheese or bacon, and more like a soup with watery broth. Service was adequate but oddly overly personal and less professional. We’ll try another old Towne Petersburg place the next time.

Pros:. Can’t beat the customer service, this is the type of place you want to succeed Great atmosphere — can’t believe the improvements they made to the interior Have yet to hear anything bad about the food, although it isn’t my style(more comfort food) Cons: 4 – 6 local beer taps, rarely anything that catches my eye Not that I’m looking for it, but not a «pick up bar»

Great atmosphere, horrible service. I’ve been there three times and every time they’ve gotten my order wrong. Served me a flat beer last night and there was a thirty minute gap between when my friend got his food and I got mine. Food is also a bit on the pricey side for what you actually get.

Nice little hole in the wall. There was a wedding party in the back looking like they were having a great time, really mixed eclectic group. Music was jamming at 4in the afternoon and found myself people watching, but not being intrusive. I wanted to try a different drink outside of my Cosmo so I asked the waitress for a suggestion. She made a really good punch, not to strong and not to sweet really nice kind of reminded me of a mimosa. I ordered the rib eye and the brusell sprouts as a side. The steak was perfect just like it. The atmosphere is really chill here if I make it back in town I’d definitely come back later in the evening to check out the music.

Very pleasant décor and greeting by the«bartender”/ waiter. Asked for Irish coffees on a rainy and cold afternoon. «Bartender» correctly asked if we wanted Jameson’s or Bailey’s in them. We asked for Jameson’s and watched as he took two mismatched mugs, poured coffee in them and then dumped in the whiskey. That’s what we got; no brown sugar, no cream or whipped cream. His ignorance completely stunned us and made me very uneasy; they don’t know a classic drink, how could they know how to cook? Gulped our«Irish coffees», grabbed our check and ran across the street to the deli where we had a great meal and great service.

Good job on this place! The makeover was absolutely worth it. The new face of this restaurant is quite amazing. It went from dark and dingy, to bright, clean, and very welcoming. Matt and I went in here for dinner and were amazed. The food was tasty and the prices were reasonable. He had the lamb rack and I had a trio of tacos. Not going to lie… the tacos definitely won. I had the venison sausage, chicken, and fish tacos and all three were beautifully seasoned. The fish one was tangy and the fish was grilled to perfection — not over done and not undercooked. The chicken was seasoned well and the venison sausage… can I please have a vat of it?! I’m not even too sure what it’s seasoned with but OMG… was it tasty! Matt’s lamb was good although the spaetzle that it came with were undercooked. A few weeks later, we went back for brunch. They had a new cook and a bloody mary bar. I mean, really? How can you compete? The new cook Chef Christian’s(who previously pushed out amazing food at Rappahannock Restaurant) debut was that day and we just happened to be one of the first customers. Wow… were we amazed. Brunch was amazing and the winner of the morning was definitely the lamb sausage gravy. TODIEFOR! :) Great job! Will we be coming back? Um… yes. Every week. At least once.

Had the shrimp and grits to die for. A Cajun dish with its spiciness without the hot. The crab cakes without the overwhelming fillers. Entrees pleasingly dress to the eye. Can’t wait for Zack’s new fall/winter menu. Had a new beer of sweet potato and sage. Potent but not strong to the taste added an orange to bring out a tinge of sweetness. Also had a concoction shot of simple syrup of honey and water mixed with bourbon made by Renee the manager. Started strong with the bourbon but ended sweetly with the honey. Couldn’t put it down. Will definitely be regular. Nice to meet Renee and Zack(the chef).
