I heard about the place through friends. So, I took my wife, brother, his daughter and husband to try it out. The place was immaculate, the staff clean and friendly. Everyone smiled and their body language indicated they enjoyed working there. The food was delicious! We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was the best I have had in the Richmond area. My niece and I had porterhouse steaks and they were cooked exactly the way we wanted. The green beans were indeed fresh. The other had scallops, fried oysters and smothered chicken. Everyone gave the food two thumbs up! Definitely going back again!

Stopped in for a quick dinner with a party of 13. Danielle was our server and the service was amazing! Once we told Danielle that we were in a hurry, she took care of our entire table while being organized and prompt. The food was good enough to return another time.

Spectacular meal. The best I have since arriving to Virginia. I opted for a surf and turf of broiled scallops with a ribeye steak. Both came out as ordered and very tasty. The pipping hot dinner rolls hit the spot as well. The meal was filling and almost enough to take some home; however, the flavor won out so I finished it all.. Definitely will be back.

Quick service. Great food. I had the Crab Cake sandwich. It was delicious! The fries were very crispy. Will stop by again. Now open for lunch.

I work nearby, and am so happy to have a new lunch spot that is reasonably priced, with good service, and good quality food! I’ve eaten here over a half-dozen times now and never been disappointed. Yum!

For a seafood and steak place, we expected a little more. The prices reflect a more upscale restaurant. The food was good but the atmosphere is much like a chain restaurant such as Applebee’s. Very average experience overall.

Off the beaten path and well worth it! I’ve had the steak, pork chops, chicken and seafood(not at one sitting of course) and they were all excellent. Sides are plentiful and full of flavor. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating and the owner takes care of his patrons. Save room for the hummingbird cake.

We went here for dinner tonight. I’m afraid it’s pretty overpriced. The service is great and the chocolate cake were amazing, but the steak was overlooked, the steamed broccoli was not fresh and also overcooked, and the atmosphere was a little awkward … Bright lights, everyone can hear everyone else’s conversations, the floors are ceramic tile and echo everything, and the tables are loud/clanky without tablecloths. It has potential, I guess. But did I mention the chocolate cake? Mmmmm.

The very unassuming building seems to be in the middle of not a whole lot, but the inside had some very pretty features. The menu is fairly simple, but enough to work with. Our server, Diana, was great! The lunch menu we were using only had fried shrimp, not grilled, but as it turns out… The shrimp were perfectly breaded and huge. They were delicious and my father, a rather picky eater, says they were the best he’s ever had! The roast beef sandwich was cooked hot roast beef, not cold as expected, so my husband wasn’t quite as thrilled with that. High chair is perfect with a tray attached complete with cupholder. They don’t however have a sling or a regular high chair I could flip over for my infant car carrier, so we just had to keep him on the ground or turn a chair sideways and be very careful it didn’t fall off. They have no milk in the building at all, so we ordered juice for my toddler, which we try not to give her very often. The worst part was the fact that there was no place for me to change the kids when we were done with our meal. Without a changing table in the bathrooms, we had to change the kids in the car… Very careful. And then he realized he didn’t even have a trashcan door, but my husband walked to the rear corner of the building to throw the diapers in the dumpster. Food was pretty good, the restaurant was very clean and nice environment, but the lack of accommodations for kids make it a place unfortunately we won’t stop on our way back.

This place is an absolute delight. The waitstaff were very helpful and pleasant. I ordered the chicken avocado BLT on wheat. Everything was crisp and the flavors blended well. With 3 slices of bread, I was afraid that there would be too much bread/toast but there were so many other ingredients that it was fabulous to the last bite. My husband had the fried flounder and pronounced it one of the best he ever had. This is a fabulous place to eat and relax.

Joe’s is still a great place to eat in the Dinwiddie area, but I’m quite disappointed tonight by the food. My crab smelled of bleach and ammonia at the joint pieces, I ended up with a mouthful of chemical meat I ended up spitting out, and I’ve been feeling ill since returning home. I notified the manager/kitchen and they didn’t seem surprised. It doesn’t surprise me why they season the joints so much on the crab legs now. I believe how it works is they defrost legs and leave them to sit in water in the fridge until they’re ordered, If they don’t get ordered they get frozen again and then back into the fridge bath again the next day… There’s no telling how many times a set of legs will go through the cycle before being eaten, other than the crab legs and illness — the supper was decent, and the service was good. I just know not to order the crab legs ever again.: S

Great service, nice atmosphere. VERY clean. Affordable quality food. My husband had a rib eye which came with 2 sides and a salad. Ordered Med Rare, cooked perfect and seasoned perfect. Shrimp Tacos are yummy. Will go again. Went to Outback not too long ago. My steak was tiny the service was awful and my steak was still mooing, had to send it back. Thanks Joe’s Steak and Seafood! a pleasant surprise and much needed addition to the TriCities.

This was our third time visiting Joe’s and our first large group outing there. With 18 guest in attendance the staff and kitchen did not disappoint! Every appetizer and entrée showed up on time, at the right temperature, and absolutely delicious. Joe’s has a great selection of food to satisfy whatever your taste buds want and I can’t thank them enough for making our 5th Wedding Anniversary event a success! I recommend Joe’s Famous Chicken and any of the broiled seafood/fish dishes.

My first visit was a pleasant surprise! I was pleased with the ambience and décor. The staff was courteous and prompt. And the FOOD… delicious! We started with the Shrimp & Lobster Rolls! I dined on the scrumptious Blackened Tuna Steak. There are many more dishes I’d like to try. I’ll definitely be back.

It was a little out there but well worth it. The restaurant was very nice. They had a nice patio to sit out with your food and drinks. I will try that next time. I got the seafood platter with flounder, shrimp and scallops. The only thing I didn’t care for were the fried scallops. I would recommend to others!

Summary: Food was well prepared and cooked correctly. Higher quality than most restaurants in the area but a bit pricey for food that was good but nothing exceptional. I live in Petersburg and this place just recently opened. My friend wanted a steak so we headed over to Joe’s to try it. She ordered Prime Rib($ 20) and I ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter($ 24). She had a soda and I had water. We split a desert. The total bill for two came to $ 52 — $ 61 with tip. The waitress brought the drinks within a few minutes The salads took about 10 minutes. The salad was excellent quality with fresh vegetables and tasty house dressing. We finished out salads well in advance of receiving our main dish. The restaurant was busy and there was a party in the room next to us. Waitress was as attentive as she could be considering how busy they were and how many tables she was attending. Very polite and I did not have to wait more than a few minutes to get my water refilled(I had to ask). It was also quite noisy with the party going on and nearly everyone in the party drinking. The food arrived and was hot and smelled delicious. The seafood platter came with baby salad size shrimp and bay scallops. Considering the price, I was expecting large or jumbo shrimp and sea scallops. They were tasty and not over seasoned. The flounder was excellent. Cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. I did not need any sauce on the flounder, it was great tasting and tarter sauce would have hidden the flavor. The prime rib was ordered medium rare and came more on the medium side. It was seasoned perfectly and the side vegetable were fresh and cooked to perfection. It started off well, but we were only able to enjoy the food for a few minutes. The air conditioning was obviously set to a very low temperature. It was very cool in the restaurant and the vents were blowing right down on us. Our food was cold within 5 minutes — well before we could finish our meal. When it was hot, I would give it 4 to 5 stars but since we were not able to enjoy the meal, I have to knock a few stars off for the atmosphere and price. Considering I am from Hampton Roads, I am used to generous seafood platters with large scallops and shrimp for under $ 20. All in all, for the area, it was a very nice meal. There aren’t that many local owned restaurants in this area with decent quality food. It is a nice restaurant and the building architect really did a fine job designing the building. Joe’s stands out in that regard. Will I go back? Maybe, but I think I could drive down to Williamsburg and get seafood in a 5-star restaurant for a little less money and much better ambience.

Traveling on business and found myself in the Petersburg area needing dinner. Based on the reviews I decided to give this place a try. The restaurant was clean and the staff very friendly. The dining rooms have TV’s in them that kinda ruined the atmosphere in think they are trying to create. Lots of people but the noise level was not overwhelming. The food — I ordered a ribeye — medium, salad, green beans, and a sweet potato. The beans were incredible! Perfectly done and with just a little spice. When my steak arrived I did the usual cut in the middle to check the doneness… It looked perfect. Unfortunately I realized later that one end of the steak was rare, the other end well-done, and only the middle was what I had ordered. The potato was overcooked and had several bad spots in it. My waitress was super friendly and just the right amount of attentive — much appreciated! My check, however was for a collection of food that I had not ordered! After that was straightened out the price was fairly reasonable. So, was this place better than anything else in the area? Yes, I think so. Give it a try… Have the beans… Check your steak in more than one place!

Joe’s Steak and Seafood is a new locally owned restaurant opened by the owners of Guiseppe’s. Joe’s opened this past Thursday, and my boyfriend and I dined here the next night. We arrived around 8:00 pm and the restaurant was nearly full, but we were seated immediately. There is a nice patio out front as well as multiple dining rooms and a full bar inside. Our server, Estela, was lovely, and provided prompt and courteous service. Servers were dressed in white collared shirts with red bow ties, but dress for patrons was casual with many customers dining in shorts. For being opening weekend, the restaurant ran like a seasoned and experienced establishment without any of the mistakes or delays we expected. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip($ 7.99) as an appetizer which was tasty but nothing stood out. My boyfriend ordered the seafood platter($ 23.99) consisting of shrimp, scallops, flounder and a crab cake with the option to have these fried or broiled. His meal was also served with two sides and he selected the spinach and the mashed redskin potatoes. He was impressed with the quality and portions of his food. I ordered the 6 ounce sirloin($ 13.99) medium with spinach and a loaded baked potato($ 1.95 extra). My steak was very juicy and the potato was huge and truly loaded to the point of overflowing. Spinach could have used a bit more flavor, perhaps garlic, but I appreciated the healthier side options. With two beers, an appetizer, two entrees, and tip, our bill was around $ 70.00. We definitely could have eaten here for cheaper, but the quality of our food and service was equitable to the price. The ambiance inside was nice if a bit generic. The lights could be dimmed a bit, the TVs could be removed from the dining rooms and concentrated in the bar, and the walls could use some local art. However, for Dinwiddie, this place is quite nice, and I truly hope they succeed.
