Well, I visited Golden Skillet during my recent trip. I have relatives in the area but do not recall anyone mentioning this chicken spot back in the day. We ordered the fish sandwich(trout with bones) — 2 stars out of 5; the boneless wings — 2 stars; potato salad — 1 star; curly fries — they were fries, sweet potato pie — 1 star(way too sweet), and they no longer server dirty rice. I guess my mistake was ordering all but the fried chicken. I just wasn’t in the mood at that time for chicken(fighting a cold). Definitely my mistake, based on Demetria M.‘s review. The next time I go to Petersburg, I will try the fried chicken and that’s it.

Yes, yes, yes! Golden Skillet is just as Dewayne said, ‘the original from back in the day’! When I was growing up in the area, Golden Skillet was the chicken spot, not Church’s, not KFC, so after taking my first bite I immediately flashed back to the olé days… yes, it’s just as good as it was back then and they’ve even added baked chicken to the menu and it’s better than the fried! That’s right, crispy, well seasoned, baked/rotisserie style chicken at the Skillet… don’t sleep on that hidden treasure my friends, it’s not to be missed!

Just like the original Golden Skillet from back in the day… I have been to the location Hull Street and Williamsburg but they don’t have there seasonings right to compare. Plus the Petersburg location has Fish and Pork Chops as well.
