This was a nice long hike. The views a B– at best compared to other locations. The problem here is that they charge you $ 4 per person when up in N. NH it is $ 3 for car! It can get very pricey for a family and is not really worth the expense. YIKES!!! I paid it because I was held hostage with 7 people wanting to hike. I usually pay $ 0-$ 3 in N. NH. Now the trails were clearly marked but they need to take a chain saw and remove some fallen branches. The look out tower is not accessible and my girls wouldn’t use the toilets. Take #2 this week in NH… Hopefully we will find something better… A big NO! NO!

For those who can’t hike to enjoy the view you have the option to drive and there’s two trails you can take if you do hike. From the top you can see old over night cabins as its part of the wapak trail range and it is a pretty popular hike for foliage season also Boston is visible on a clear day but it is a small fee for the climb at the toll booth.

Chose this place after researching a good foliage-viewing spot for a day trip from Mass. This park has a well-ppaved auto road all the way to the peak, if you want a good view but don’t have time/can’t hike, with decent amount of parking. If you do want to hike, it is about 1 hour up the hill(some hikers go back down using the auto road). There is a $ 4 per adult admission to enter the park($ 2 for kids, under 5 free, and NH residents over 65 free), so many people bring their own picnic lunch to enjoy a longer time here. There are many picnic tables. Also a small tower viewing area if you want to go up a little higher, and an area where a local audobon society chapter sets up telescopes to view hawk/raptors. Great view of Mt. Monadnock from this vantage point. Apparently you can also see Boston some times from this height, but it was too hazy on the day we visited.
