My real estate agent recommended John, and he could not have been more thorough. It is my first house, and John sat down with me to explain what he found and when things should be repaired in order to keep my home protected. He then created a thorough report with photos that has been used as my «bible» for repairs ever since. I would not have felt comfortable with making an investment without John. He did see some potential dry rot, and pointed it out to my pest inspector, who was here at the same time. I’m a bit confused about the other review on Unilocal, because John is not a pest inspector. My understanding, btw, is that dry rot and even termites are the norm out here in the Russian River, and that everyone who buys a house should be prepared to deal with them.

Came out to the Russian River area on short notice and was very flexible with his schedule, pricing was reasonable(that’s where the two stars comes from). He was recommended by the realtors and I can see why — was extremely light with his critical inspection. Lots of termite and significant wood rot was overlooked or cited as «possible damage». Great if you are selling a home and don’t want someone too critical, pointing out every possible detail. Not so good if you are a potential buyer and really want to know what the issues and challenges truly are. Reading John’s report raised no red flags prior to purchase, only a few minor issues to be addressed. I had a second contractor come through for an inspection and he had a unrelenting list of issues with the property, to the point where we wondered if we were better off tearing the whole place down and rebuilding. After two years of rennovations, it was clear that the second contractor was much closer to being accurate.
