Drew’s Sandwich & Burger

The food is great, as well as a great beer selection here. Try anything on the menu, but I like a plain old cheeseburger with everything on it, add avocado.

Been here twice now, three actually… the first time I was told they ran out of burgers, so I left and went elsewhere. On the two times that I did eat here, it was underwhelming… long wait, mediocre food, and the impression that the employees are in training. In fact it appears that the employees here are always different… High turnover?
Nothing special here, and the almost empty deli fridge at the front desk gives the impression this place is ready to close any day… in comparison with the deli up the street which is always packed, but always seems to get your order to you within 10 minutes or less. Waited almost 20 minutes at Drews for a simple burger and fries.

I’ve really been wanting to try this place for a few months. They’ve got weird hours and I’ve made an effort to stop by twice. First time they closed before their posted hours with a makeshift sign put up citing staffing issues. Came by again today to find another sign saying they were temporarily closed due to an «impasse with property management». 1 star for not being able to keep a simple sandwich shop open. Save your time and money and go down the street to Mr. Pickles.

I’ve been here 4 times, the first two times were fine but the more recent were not.
For the food: it’s good, I can’t complain too much, I order the Sonoma burger, only one time the avocado looked bruised and unappealing. The fries and onion rings were average as they look like the frozen ones I can buy at the store.
Service: On 1^st time I went in during lunch and felt rushed to make my order, Drew was there acknowledged my presence even as he was working with the staff, burger was tasty so I came back.
The 2^nd time was after lunch only two women were working, the girl at the cash register made comments about the religious symbol I was wearing, because it differed from her beliefs, that made me uncomfortable.
The 3^rd visit I took to-​go because that girl that made remarks was there again I didn’t want to hear any unnecessary comments as I was the only customer in at that time.
The 4^th visit just a few weeks ago, Drew was there but it wasn’t too busy. There was one party of 3 ordering in front of me, Drew and a cashier were talking to them and taking their order for gyros or something. I stood there waiting to place my order for just under 10 minutes without even a «hello» or «we’ll be with you in just a minute» from anyone. So I left

Low quality, ZERO money put back into anything in this place. No hand soap in a very dirty bathroom. Carpet so old and the whole place smelled like a musty gym locker.

Been going here since 2012. Consistently good quality and it’s kind of unusual to find a place that can make cold deli sandwiches as well as serve hot burgers.
I love liverwurst and had that today (I know it’s an acquired taste in CA but I’m from back East). They made it with evenly sliced layers and put slices of sandwich pickles in it (not pickle chips).
I’ve had the Reuben and the Pastrami sandwiches a couple of times and they are tangy too, as well as a cheeseburger.
Drew is very personable and made me feel like a regular on my first visit. When he’s on the phone taking an order his staff make sure they get your order right. They have a good variety of bottled soda and juices.
In good weather you can sit outside. It is clean inside and there is plenty of parking. When I worked in that neighborhood, I would call in the sandwich order on my 10am break and they would ask what time I would be in, like 12:15 or 1. I had a half hour lunch and this was a very nice service. I never had to wait, so I could enjoy a lunch with my friends and relax a while.

I was driving through town and I saw this on Unilocal.I am so super glad I came in! We ordered the mushroom burger and it was extra delicious. Combine that with the wonderfully sweet staff, the RC cola on tap, and the great prices… You’ve got a recipe for a terrific place. I can’t wait to come here again!

I wish there was an option for zero stars, my co-​worker and I got very sick (food Poisoning) after eating here, don’t recommend their food. go to other sandwich shops instead unless you want to get sick!

Found Drews through Unilocal on our way to Bodega Bay. Food was very good and the customer service was great. We had mixture of everything… Hamburger/​Fries, Veggie Burger, Club Sandwich, Asian Salad, Ham Sandwich… and everything was tasty. We will definitely stop by on our next trip.

Been working in Petaluma for about 4 years now and have stopped in Drew’s every so often for lunch. I like Drew a lot. He really makes it a point to familiarize himself with his customers’ names and faces. Makes you feel welcome every time you go in. Food is pretty good overall. The only issues I really have are with his staff sometimes. I’ve spoken to some before over the phone who made me feel like I was inconveniencing them at times. I realize they can get busy, but rushing usually leads to errors in orders. It seems to be more on the days that Drew may not be there. The staff (not Drew) also tend to make quite a few mistakes with orders. I think they really need to pay a little more attention to details with that. Also, I don’t ever see staff wearing gloves or washing their hands. I’m not a germaphobe, but it’s not appealing to see someone wipe their hands all over their pants & butt area or cleaning things off and then start handling your food, as I’ve witnessed this several times in person. I think gloves or stricter rules about hand sanitation would help a lot. Other than that, it’s a good place to go. I don’t see many places that stack their sandwiches as much as Drew’s.

Drew’s is one of the only restaurants where I saw the owner himself. I always get the burger and it’s amazing. Whenever I’m home on weekdays I crave Drew’s. It’s great for the whole family. I go with my whole family and everyone enjoys it. Drew’s is a must if you are in Petaluma

Here’s an update, no I have not been back to try them again, but after my last review the manager emailed me with an apology. He was very nice about everything and in my book great customer service like he has deserves an automatic 2 star bump.

This team rocks! Fresh bread delivered every morning. Daily hand pressed burgers. Out door patio. If your I’m the area it’s a must.

Very good Sandwich.
I had the Turkey, Jack and Bacon on sour dough toast.
The employees were nice and cared that I was happy with my visit.
The place has a little patio to enjoy the outside.

Awesome sandwich spot, definitely with checking out, we found this place by accident and the food and the service was excellent.

It’s been over a year since I first posted about Drew’s when my job moved up to Petaluma. UPDATE: Yum…
I’ve tried quite a few of their menu items since I first went and haven’t been disappointed. Here’s a tip: Ask them for whatever extra’s you want but do not tell them how to cook your burger. Just let them do their thing.
Current favorite lunch: Shroom burger with caramelized onions and a side of their gnarly-​good shoestring fries (eat those first, and fast).

I had to try this place because of the Unilocal reviews I read. I love the one about the rookie beer truck driver. Anyway, I wasn’t totally impressed. I ordered the chef salad. It came after my friends burger. I had a stack of napkins that I fetched myself next to me, and I thought it was funny that the waitress took them away and put them back.
About the food, my salad was very average. The blue cheese dressing was yellowish. What I liked about it, was that it came in a bowl. My friends burger must not have been too great as she boxed ½ of it away and remarked that she’s is going to store it upside down because the bottom bun was soggy, and the top bun was about 2 inches thick.
I’m going to give them another chance because having a salad isn’t a fair test.
One more comment; Drew was very pleasant and he actually reminded me of Drew Carey.
