One of the best it’s just unfortunate it’s in a hard to spot location and there are so many other good mexican restaurants in town definitely as good as the rest and better in some ways as well they all have their unique style I definitely like this place as much if not more than MI Pueblo(not as crowded too) give it a shot you won’t regret it! Also those chips and salsa!!!

By far the smallest the smallest burrito I’ve ever paid $ 8 for. Not happy at all. It would probably cost 20 cents to double the contents in the burrito but they’d rather rip people off than to make people happy. I decided to try this place, in normally go to MI Pueblo. For the exact same price I get literally twice the size of burrito. Maybe more. Sometimes I struggle to eat the whole burrito at Mi Pueblo. Would not go here again. Taste was not bad. Was going to give 2 star but after eating and still extremely hungry I’m not happy at all.

It’s a rarity to find good food and good service in the same place in petaluma. It’s been so long in fact that I forgot what it feels like to be served by such friendly, competent, and attentive people but that is the norm at don ponchos. The food here is fresh and authentic. Freshly made chips that are perfectly salted and wafer thin. Delicious smokey molé sauce and refreshing margaritas. It’s tucked away in the most culturally diverse shopping center in town! I lovingly call it minority village. Where else can you find Chicago style pizza, korean, thai, mexican, 2 different Chinese restaurants and 2 different Vietnamese spots in the same parking lot? I think the close proximity of so many affordable, convenient eats competitively drives them all to be on top of their respective games. And best of all they reserve any judgemental looks when you put down an entire super burrito in less than 15 mins. In fact one if the servers gave me a fist bumb when he cleared my empty plate lol. What? I went to yoga today!

Leaving Petaluma heading back to Livermore 6pm on a week night, it’s a long haul. Found Don Pancho’s near the Trader Joes off the 101. Clean. Nice level of music and not too crowded. Met right away by a super nice lady that directed me to any table. They brought me my drink and some chips, salsa and some refried bean dip with chipotle. The beans were awesome. Ordered a #8 with a carne asada taco and a cheese enchilada. The carnet Asada had a great grilled flavor the beans were on point the rice was good the cheese enchilada was not the best but I ate it anyway. The service is great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some good Mexican food at a reasonable price.

I have no idea why anyone would have any negative comments whatsoever about this restaurant. Last Wednesday I stumbled upon Don Panchos during a lunch break at work and was wonderfully surprised to receive a friendly greeting followed by immediate seating. The dish that I chose was cooked to perfection. These people really know how to make their food. I will be returning for the Carne Asada & Steak Picado again in the future. The only set back which made me review less was when i came on a busy night and had to wait nearly 45 minutes for my meal to be served leaving me with little time to eat. You will find fast and friendly service 99.7% of the time when coming to this restaurant on most days however. Good job! :)

A hidden little gem in Petaluma! I’ve driven past this place for years but it looked so small from the outside so I never ventured in. One night after my son’s baseball game we decided to give this place a try. I’m so happy we did! The help is so nice and the ladies who greet you are super friendly. I’ve traveled around the world, and they offer some of the best soft tacos(pollo asado) grilled chicken I’ve ever sunken my teeth into. Haha. Our meals were BIG, and served with 3 types of salsa/dip with chips. Drinks were never empty, full bar and I noticed the waitress washing the menus with 409– always earns points with me since menus are teaming with bacteria. Prices are so cheap too. Will be back again!

When I decide to eat mexican food(which is often) I always go here. The waiters are always smiling and nice. It’s never too packed, which is nice. My boyfriend and I are always extremely satisfied with the food here. It’s a great little place to eat.

The service was decent enough to make a one star a two … but the food, Totally disappointed! How do you get shrimp cocktail so wrong ??? And tacos so flavorless?

Good Food, Great Prices. Slow Service. My 14 year old son tried to eat the Muy Macho Burrito. He is over six foot and can eat a horse, but only got ½ of this beast down. Lunch tomorrow!!! Keeping a teen age boy from being hungry, priceless!!! I had a 3 item combo which was awesome Never got chips refilled, and had to ask a few times to get water refilled…

This is a decent spot for Mexican food. Really nice staff, pretty good food. Clean bathrooms. East location to find in the big shopping center near KMart. Nothing spectacular but good, consistent food makes this place worth the trip.

Well, we couldn’t tell if they messed up on me getting chicken in my burrito and my husband getting pork in his chimichunga, so that tells you something. They were both shredded, both the same color and both tasted kind of nondescript. The sauce poured over my wet burrito was very watery and had some chunks of meat we also tried to distinguish, looking at each other saying, «beef?» There was no melted cheese on the burrito which is also not normal of a wet burrito. The food was edible but not deserving of a repeat.

I wasn’t expecting much from a hole in the wall Mexican place, but this was a nice surprise. The carnitas fajitas were great. All the ingredients were fresh and well prepared and the service was great. Homemade tortillas were a special treat.

Although the location isn’t great, Don Panchos is truly one of the best spots for Mexican food in P-town. The service is warm and friendly. Drinks are refilled before they become empty, and the food is awesome! During dinner service they bring a side of their special beans with the salsa and chips. This special dip is not on the menu and not available until after 5PM. Totally addicting. The carne asada plate and horchatas are a must try.

I found a large bone in my shredded chicken burrito which was bland to begin with, my margarita was all ice and little liquid and the table water tasted like it came out of a dirty tap. NEVER eating here again.

Don Pancho’s is a solid 4 stars. Literally stumbled upon this place while driving back to the bay area after a day in the redwoods… First, I was sicker than a dog when I came in. I had some sinus thing going on and I couldn’t stop sneezing. I sat down and the VERYNICE waitress came by with 2 wonderful salsas and warm refried beans and a basket of chips. I could actually taste the salsas. really fresh and flavorful. I wanted to eat this stuff by the spoonful but my sister wouldn’t let me. Anyway, I ordered a hot water with lemon. She brought that out to me immediately(no charge on the bill!) Then she suggested the chicken soup and that’s what I was going to get anyway… It was very good. It was a nice clear broth with cilantro, onions and rice and 3 pieces of chicken floating in it. 1 leg, 1 wing and 1 thigh. I think they use the breast for their other entrees. My sis got 2 chicken crispy tacos, piled on her salsa and she said they were great. The refried beans and rice were good. She said they could have used a bit more flavor — but that just shows that they’re not drowning their sides in lard! I like that. Anyway, the VERYVERY kind waitress brought me more hot water and lemons. She was genuinely concerned for my well being. Told me to try and breathe in the steam from the soup. it was quite funny. She got me to laugh even though I felt like cr ap. And said the squeezed lime in the soup will help me heal, too… If I’m ever passing thru Petaluma again, I’ll be back here…

Good solid Mexican fare in a traditional booth/table environment. I had sun glare in my face for my entire meal, but that wasn’t the fault of the establishment, really. Had a Cuban sandwich. I’d rate it like I rate the place; four of five stars. The service is pretty attentive and the atmosphere is family/semi-loud but laid back and the menu is extremely diverse. Something for everyone at Don Panchos!

My favorite Mexican food place, I’ve been here so many times that I have«a usual» :D Trust me, my usual is quite a complex Macho Burrito. They give a free t-shirt if you manage to eat a Muy Macho Burrito. I’ve yet to accomplish this.
